After reading about the folks going to DIScon and how far they must travel to get to the airport I started thinking.

I wish all the residents of my city could read about how far people have to travel to get to an airport! Our state airport is in our city and people are constantly complaining about the noise, etc. Most of the complainers bought their houses LONG after the airport was established so they have no reason to be surprised at any of these things. What they fail to recognize is along with the convenience we have all the related businesses (hotels, restaurants, car agencies) and tax-revenues that it brings.

We live about 2 miles from the airport and when we bought our house we were fully aware of the downside as well as the benefits. Before the days of increased security we could leave our house, go to the airport, and fly to Orlando....in about 4 hours!

We're only about 15 minutes from the airport. We're under the landing path for the airport, but it's really only loud when there are low clouds because the clouds trap the sound. However, once we get to the airport, it still takes forever to get anywhere. Our airport is tiny, so you basically have to have at least one layover regardless of where you're going. There is one daily direct flight to LaGuardia, and the airport is very proud of that flight.

Depending on traffic and speed. 10-20 minutes from the airport.

We are within an hours drive from 3 different airports:D ...........Cleveland,Pittsburgh and Akron airports are all within 60-70 miles from us.;)

Kermit, I'm under one of the landing paths too, and like you I don't hear them much unless it's a cloudy day. :)

Before our airport expanded its' terminal about 8 years ago we were similar to Kermit....very few direct flights anywhere. We'd have to drive to Boston for more options and low-cost flights.

One of the perks of being so close is the times that the President has come to RI. We've been able to park near the runway and watch Air Force One take off.....up close and personal!

We are 45 minutes from Lansing airport where we then fly to Detroit's Metro airport.:D

About 45 minutes.

I know the Warwick airport. Went in and out of there a few times. It's a very nice facility.

We are 15 minutes from John Wayne (OC) airport, 35 minutes from Ontario, and 45 minutes from LAX (which is where we normally fly out of.)

It would take us about an hour and ten minutes or so to get to the nearest airport-Chattanooga Metro. I've never flown, but I've been to the airshow near there.:) It would take us about 3 hours at the minimum to get to the Atlanta airport (next closest). There is a tiny, tiny, tiny airport about 15 minutes away, but since I've never flown, I'm not sure I'd want to get in one of those canoe-sized airplanes the first time.

We are only about a 20 minute drive away from the airport :)

LOL, thanks EROS. I'm not sure I should explore some of my fantasies (I have a great imagination).;) Btw, none of my fantasies involve women:teeth:. I have a fear of flying, but I want to overcome that fear by jumping out of an airplane sometime (tandem jumping might help battle that fear:teeth: ).

I might get that book sometime.:) Thanks again, EROS.:)

I am about an hour away from two airports. I fly out of one of them all of the time but have never tried the other.

With no traffic we are probably 20-25 minutes away, however, no traffic in Boston is a joke. So, we usually take the "Logan Express" which is a bus that goes right into Logan and picks us up about 5 minutes from my house.

5 minutes from Reagan airport, 20 minutes from Dulles, 30 minutes from BWI. I'm flying out of Regan on Thursday and back into Dulles on Sunday. Its nice having 3 international airports within a 30 minute drive.
