How *exactly* does the California Grill work with the dining plan?

Howdy folks!

My first post here, and I've got a question. I've got a reservation for a stay at the Pop from Sept. 24th to the 30th, with free dining from a bounceback last year. My girlfriend and I want to have dinner at the California Grill one of the nights we're there, and we understand that this will use two of our table service credits. That's not a problem. What I don't understand is exactly what's included having dinner at one of those premium restaurants, as opposed to what's included at say the Rose and Crown. The menu indicates more courses and so forth.

So, anybody been there on the 2008 Dining Plan?

California Grill

DDP

Any main course or one of the two most expensive Sushis ("Yoshis" and "Snake in the Grass")are considered entrees, choose one.

Choose any dessert.

One non-alcoholic beverage.

DxDDP

In addition:

Choose one from flatbreads, sushis (excluding the two most expensive Sushis), or first courses as appetizer.

I don't know what category the Cheese Board is in.

Attractions of the California Grill:

View from tower is outstanding. If fireworks are scheduled during your dinner you can go outside to viewing area. Be warned, table seating 30-60 min. before fireworks can be run behind schedule as diners linger.

Atmosphere is adult and sophisticated (this is a quality of the signatures in general). Atmosphere is romantic. James Bond would probably go to the California Grill (well, Disney and James bond may be a stretch). Children are welcome but in the minority

Sushi is great, wine list and bar is great. Food is good/very good.

If you are interested in sophistication, romance, Sushie, view etc. than California grill is worth your 2 credits. If you just want very good food there are a few 1 credit TS which would compete.

Narcosees is another sophisticated romantic signature restaurant I have been to, and I prefer the food. California grill is a bit more hectic, but view is more spectacular.

The cheese board can be dessert on the deluxe so I would guess it could be on the regular as well.

Reaper, we love CG and go every trip. But it might be better paying for it out of pocket and using that credit at a one TS spot. I would check the menu and figure out what you would order (knowing that the menu will change at least a little anyway). When appetizers were included, I thought most one credit restaurants were a better "value" than signature ones. Now, I think the difference is even greater.

But don't cancel. It's so good and has an amazing view.

You may want to see if you want to pay the difference between bounceback and the DxDDP and upgrade to the DxDDP. Since you get three credits per day on the DxDDP, to be used for any combintaton of CS, TS, dinner shows and signature (dinner shows and signature are still 2 credits). Paying for the CG OOP would probably run 2 adults $90-100+ which could be very near 2 days of the upgrade cost to the DxDDP.

I appreciate the heads up, but I've spent as much money as I'm willing to, reasonably. This will mean we have to do something out of pocket one night, but burgers aren't likely to kill us. And we can do that reasonably cheaply (as I recall, after many visits) too.

It'd be something nice to do, and it would be within a few days of our second anniversary.

Is there any other restaurant, part of the dining plan, that would be worthwhile to consider?
