How do other brands compare to Bare Minerals?

I have the bare minerals I bought the starter kit at ulta around christmas time. I love it, but I hardly ever wear it due to the fact that I usually only go to work or to run errands or what not. I wear it if I go out, but I don't want to waste time putting expensive make up on just to sit in the apartment if nobody is going to see me. I really do love it though and for the price of the kit and all that you get its a really good deal! :thumbsup2

I second stacielee- Everyday Minerals are terrific!! You can order a kit containing sample sizes of 3 different shades of foundation, one blush, and one concealer for FREE (there is a $3-4 shipping fee) to test it.

I heard about EM on the DIS- it got raves for coverage, staying power, and non-itchiness. Tried it, loved it, threw away all my other makeup. Over 2 years later, it is the only MU I will wear- I love it!

QVC sells bare escentuals. You can buy everything you would need individually. They have a thirty day money back guarantee also.

I usually get a huge jar - 9 Grams maybe - of BE off ebay for around $20 shipped. Of course you'll need to find your color first.

I agree. I would go w/EM over Loreal or other reg brands if you are just trying to save $. If you look at the ingredient lists, the other brands have fillers like powders and corn starch and EM only has minimal ingredients. Bare Minerals has bismuth added, which I like because I find it looks more creamy and reflects light. But if mineral makeup makes you itchy, or you like more of a matte look, Everyday Minerals is great!

I ordered this kit and was not impressed. IMO the quality is nowhere near that of Bare minerals and it only costs a little less. It did not give me adequate coverage and wore off quickly.

Where can you try on the makeup in the store? We dont' have a Sephora anywhere around here.

Do you have an "Ulta" store? They carry Bare Minerals -

I also have tried other brands, and agree, the brushes make the difference - it is messy, so I wanted the brush and minerals all in one - big mistake - neither item worked very well!

you can use the handiwipes/baby wipes to clean your brushes!!

When you go to the bare minerals website they give you some locations in your state where you can buy it. I happened to be passing an salon that had a sign saying they sold BE (it's not on the website as a place that I could buy it on the website) so you might want to call a couple of upscale salons in your area. If you still can't find it in your are, buy it online sephora they have free returns.

Another vote for Everyday Minerals. I don't wear lots of makeup on a regular basis, but when I do, this is the only thing I will wear. Everything else breaks me out (although I've never tried Bare Minerals)... Everyday Minerals pricing cannot be beat, you can order multiple samples to find your perfect shade and blend, (just have to pay shipping..) I don't think I'll ever buy anything else.

That's an 80% thumbs down rating on the Loreal brand. Not very good - I'll be taking it back (bought two with B1G1 at Walgreens).

How about the Pure Minerals they sell at Costco? And how much is a jar of Bare Minerals, anyway? I didn't even ask. Are there codes for it or for any store that carries it?

Thanks!

I use Bare Minerals and have for about 3 or 4 years. I really like it. It is expensive but it does last forever. Definitely go into the store and have them do a free makeover thing. They can do your colors and everything. Then buy a kit. You really save a lot of money this way. Also, QVC has some great kits when they have Bare Minerals on (which is often!). Enjoy!

If you like bare minerals you'll like aromaleigh. It's a small company out of South Carolina who make everything by hand. They have great prices on samples, free shipping on those samples, and LOTS of colors for your foundation color. LOTS of eye colors. I can't say enough about them. I've been using them for years, and every order they send you a few new samples and the samples are very generous. You can find them at Aromaleigh.com. I pay 16.00 for the large size. They have a formula for regular skin and also one if you have dry skin called Voile'. It's creamier than the regular. Worth it to try the samples. They're around 2 bucks per sample with free shipping. A sample would last you a week at least.

I'm going to go against the grain here- I love the Maybelleine brand and have no problems with itching.

I have very sensitive skin and had a makeover ast Sephora once and had the worst itching and red spots ever. I am not sure if it was the makeup or the cleanser and or lotion she put on before. I had told her I am sensitive to alot of things but she used them anyway. I went purposly to see if the Bare Escentials would cause a rash.
I just bought the Loreal yesterday and used it last night and had no problems. I want to go back soomday and try Sephora again but I needed something to use on the plane for my flight to FL next week. I wear makeup maybe 4 or 5 times a year, mostly when I fly and want to look less blotchy.
I got the Loreal at CVS for $9.99 with a $2 coupon from the Sunday paper and got $5 coupon back so it worked out to be fairly cheap. I used the $5 to buy some self tanning lotion (on sale and a coupon of course) so I don't look like the abomidable snowman when I go to the pool.

I got samples of both Bare Minerals and Pur Minerals (not the Costco brand, but the one from TV) I've found they both cover the same, but I liked the Pur Minerals better because it's pressed and doesn't make the mess that Bare Minerals makes. It's also cheaper.

I didn't like the Pur Minerals blush that they sent with the starter kit. It kinda smells like crayons, but I love the foundation and warmth.

Does anyone know if or what the difference is between Bare Minerals and Bare Escentuals?
\

Nope same company. I believe the company name is Bare Escentuals.

I have use Bare Minerals now for about 3 1/2 years. I love it. It lasts a long time in my opinion. I used to use Clinique for years and years. You can also get some really nice sets on QVC when Leslie is on there. I think that is her name...the founder of the company.

I have also ordered online at Sephora.

My 18 dd also uses the Bare Minerals. She has extremely sensitive skin/eczema and it has worked great on her skin.

I have used Bare Minerals and I also tried Maybelline's line. I loved Bare Minerals, the Maybelline was not good.

Bare Essenctuals is the name of the company. Bare Minerals is the name of the product line.

The JC Penny where I live (Oregon) has a Sephora counter. They might carry it.

I've used Bare Minerals for years and I love it. I really like the coverage and how it feels.

I buy my bare minerals on qvc.com. They have a "try me" kit for $30. I've been using bare minerals for well over 5 years and love it!!!! Before that, I never wore make-up because I didn't like the way it felt on my skin. I stick with the basics (foundation, bisque, mineral veil & clear radience) and get tons of compliments on my beautiful "skin".

I find Pur minerals to be more coverage than BareMinerals. Great for someone looking for more coverage. I don't really think it's less expensive though.
