How do other brands compare to Bare Minerals?

I've tried Bare Minerals, Everyday Minerals and L'Oreal. I took the L'Oreal back to the store for a refund and I gave the Everyday Minerals to my daughters.

I love my Bare Minerals and in January they came out with a few more foundation colors, one of which is better for me than what I had been using for 2 years. Such I began using Bare Minerals I don't get break outs anymore and my face still feels great at the end of each day... and I have a LOT of long days.

I use the Rare Minerals when I wax to keep bacteria from getting into those freshly opened pores. I was a devoted Clinique user before Bare Minerals and now I don't even bat an eye when I see the Clinique Bonus Time ads! Now that's some emotional growth, isn't it?? :rotfl:

On the Everyday Minerals forum, several of the users are recommending Monistat Anti-Chafing Lotion as a Primer. I tried it the other day on my eyelids, and no creasing. Today, I tried it very lightly on my whole face, and my makeup looks just as good now as it did when I put it on 12 hours ago. And I was grilled in Court today for over an hour by a defense attorney, so it withstood a very tough day. I was sweating up a storm, but my makeup didn't suffer a bit.

I use the Monistat, too! It's terrific and inexpensive, compared to MU primers out there with basically the same ingredients.

I think it's Bare Minerals? I got a sample a week ago of the expensive stuff in their mall store (it was a promo and I love it!) - - anyway, I'd like to buy some during Walgreen's BOGO L'oreal offer. Has anyone tried it and liked it? Did you also try Bare Minerals - how do they compare?

Thanks!

Just decided to reorder my Bare Essentuals, I have tried Loreal and just had to go back... the Loreal made my skin look dry...

I just started using Bare Minerals - thanks to another thread that was on this board a long time ago (it took me that long to talk myself into buying such expensive makeup!:lmao:). All I can say is "WOW!" I'll never use anything else. It's that good.

I went to a BE store in Burlington, MA and got the makeover - they showed me how to use it, let me try it out....I was hooked!

Oh, this is another vote for the Monistat. I read about it on a MAC board - I've been using it for about a year as a primer. It's FANTASTIC!! :lmao:

There are tons of small mineral makeup companies out there that make excellent products and most sell samples of their products. Be sure to check the list of ingredients and make sure they don't have any bismuth in them as that is what causes most people itchiness and irritation. Also make very sure you have some good brushes as good, soft brushes make all the difference. The synthetic brushes are best for foundations, primers, and top coats and the fiberoptic blush brushes are great for putting blushes on lightly. Make sure you have some nice flat tops or fat synthetic bukis for your foundation and an eyeshadow buki, plus a nice tapered eyeshadow brush for eyeshadows. The secret to making your mineral makeup look good and last is to always use both a face and eyeshadow primer, then your foundation, then a top coat, all brushed on in very, very thin layers. Too much and you will look powdery.

Some excellent companies that I have tried are Pure Luxe, DreamWorld Minerals, Aromaleigh, Silk Naturals, Meow, Lumiere, and Cory. There are alot of others out there, but these are my favorites. I love the foundations and finishing powders from DreamWorld (but don't like her eyeshadows or blushes as they are too glittery). I do love the eyeshadows and blushes from Pure Luxe, and the blushes from Silk Naturals especially. Go to makeupalley.com and do a search on mineral makeup and read the reviews. I used to use just Bare Escentuals and loved it, but found that these other smaller companies make much better product for a fraction of the price. Most have very cheap samples you can try. As far as dept store brands, I've not found anything that I like and usually wind up trashing whatever I do buy.

Ive tried Avon minerals and Cover Girl minerals and NOTHING is as good as Bare Escentuals!

I never wore foundation until 2 years ago when I found this stuff. I hated the cakey feeling. My girlfriend turned me on the bare escentuals and I love it! I get mine online at Sephora for $25 it last me about 7 months.

I have been hooked on Bare Minerals for 2 years and have tried others from the drug store but they are not as wonderful as Bare Minerals...I get so many compliments on my skin!
