How did you meet your DH?

Tim ... so cute. Was it T Sweets or Halo Pub?
- Dana (spent four years across the street)

:) It was T Sweets. I love that place! We were in Princeton last night again...ironically after getting Coldstone. It's just so nice to walk around there, especiallyl the fountain off Washington.

This is a great thread! :teeth:

I had to go all the way from the UK to CA to meet my DH! :sunny:

My sister was living in San Jose, so I went over to stay with her what was supposed to have been a few weeks (ended up being 10years!). Her DBF played drums in a band and DS and I went along to one of their gigs. DH played keyboards in the same band. We started hanging out together and before I was due to come back to England he asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes! On the 11th of June we will have been married for 18 years and have two beautiful DD's

DH and I met online through Boston.com/personals in August of 2002. Had our first date after two weeks. I knew he was the one by October! We moved to the midwest together in January 2004 and married in October 2004!

He is my soulmate...

I was invited to a 4 year old childs birthday party by some friends. The birthday party was all the family members from both sides of the family and I was the only outsider. Talk about feeling uncomfortable, I met my dh there.

We didn't start dating right away but he helped me move and then invited me and my son to go swimming. Our first 7 dates all included my son. After that, the rest is history. :thumbsup2 We will be married 20 years this October. :teeth:

I was dating a good frind of his. My BF would talk all the time about this guy(future DH). I got so sick of hearing about him all the time. He told me he wanted me to meet him when he was home on his next leave. 11 days before Christmas the BF was killed by a drunk, along with his best friend. A few months later I heard the friend I had been so sick of hearing about was going to be on leave. A couple of friends brought him by to meet me. We both wanted to meet just to say we had since he had heard a lot about me too. I remember looking around the corner and seeing him, thinking boy he is cute, but I wouldn't have a chance with him. We talked a lot that night. We ended up doing the long distance thing and ended up married when he got out of the Navy 2 years later.

We met our senior year of hs. We had our first 2 classes together. :)

hope you don't mind 'Brit' posting on your thread :thumbsup2

I saw your thread and just had to join it

My Dh and I met through these very boards, when we had a separate UK board we used to pm each other which led to us talking on msn. Then when the boards crashed we thought we'd 'lost' each other :( Luckily we were able to get back in contact through the good old US site and decided to meet up in London. It was love at first sight for us both............ and the rest I guess is history! :cheer2:

We got married in 2003 and haven't looked back!

gotta love the DIS eh? :cloud9:

This is unusual...we met at a garage sale! I have 4 car garage behind my house and is a pretty busy/nice area. My sister called and asked if she can borrow my garage space for a garage sale. I said sure why not.... one of her friends were going through a divorce and had a hot tub for sale... it was in the ad in the paper. His buddy at work wanted to come look at a lawn mower in the ad and Mike was looking for a hot tub... he NEVER goes to garage sales, but his buddy just kept bugging him to come w/him and check it out...so he finally gave in and came. Normally, I would have took my son to the zoo or something fun but for some reason I didn't... and sure enough...we just started talking...we exchanged #'s ... started talking..started dating.. which also always included my ds3! :) Then on Valentines day this year...he proposed...and asked my son ds5 now...if it was ok and my ds said "yes" and so did I! We went down to WDW for 10 nights end of April beginning of May this year!! We were married April 27. Talk about a gift from god! I'm gone 12 hrs a day so I had no clue how I would meet someone. My life was work and ds w/not much time to spare... just shows you that when you least expect it... you'll meet the man or your dreams!

Sweet stories! (esp. love yours, UKANGEL!! So nice that the DIS has so many uses!)

DH & I met at a California Golden Seals hockey game 32 or 33 years ago - waaaay back when Oakland had an NHL team. We were among the group who bought General Admission tix, then moved down to the more expensive seats (behind the goal). We would go to a bar & grill near the arena after the games where the team's booster club would hang out. We both joined the booster club and started just seeing each other there. Once hockey season was over, we were a couple! We will celebrate our 31st Anniversary in September!

One of my sisters met her husband when they lived in the same building.
One brother met his wife at church & two other brothers met their wives at work.

My DH and I met in college. It was the spring and I had just broken my foot. Because of this I had to sit out the season for my sport team. So I decided to try a different sport as I couldnt train with the team. I joined the sailing club. I still remember when DH walked into the room, I thought he was very cute, funny and friendly but too old for me. He was the staff advisor for the club, but had only graduated from college 3 years before so he wasnt very old. Time went by we talked at club events, then I was made President of the club and we had to work together a lot. We started talking over IM and then started going out. After that I left the president position and a coulple months later he moved for a much better job 5 hours away. We stayed together one of us traveling to the other on the weekends, it was hard. In total we have been together for 8 years now. Looking back I have never been so glad to have had an injury.

I met DH when I was an aide to our local Congressman. The local elementary school was having their annual Halloween costume contest (back when you could still do that) and my friend was in charge of getting local business and political people to be judges. I went on behalf of my boss and DH was there representing the pharmacy where he worked.

We started talking and he asked for my number. We started dating and were married a year and a half later.

Our son ended up going to school there and it was funny when his teacher asked if we'd ever been to the school before. She enjoyed our story! :sunny:

When we first met he was working for a regional band who played the bar I was the talent buyer for. I saw him a few times there, but we didn't even know each others name. Fast forward a few years, I was working for Bonnie Raitte and the concert lighting company he was working for had been hired to bring in the spotlight rentals. We ran into each other and tried to figure out where we knew each other from.

I was "involved" at the time, and he was coming out of a long term relationship. We exchanged numbers anyhow.

He called me a few months later and asked if I wanted to hang out, but I had plans that day and told him no.

Then a couple months later I called him to invite him out to see the band I was working for at the time (Great White?). It was all good except a girl answered the phone. So I kept it very business like when I asked for him. It was his sister who had answered, she had recently moved to the area and was staying with him until she could get settled.

Sparks flew that night, and we've been together ever since--over 16 years now!

Anne

We met in school.

8th grade. Age 13. Became friends first and then at age 16 started dating.

Married 5 and a half years later. Still together now at age 34. :thumbsup2

I was dating DH's friend! :rotfl:

This was waaaay back when I was about a freshman in high school. Nothing too serious and he was really more interested in another girl at my all-girls school. Well, I happened to be over at DH's friend's house and saw a picture of DH and was S M I T T E N!!! This had to be the cutest boy I had ever seen! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

So... my friend ended up having a b-day party and I told DH's friend to bring DH along. Not that I thought I had a chance with this guy... DH and I hit it off. We ended up dating for 7 years and have been married for 10. And my DH is still HOT HOT HOT!!! :smooth:

By the way, I did hook DH's friend up with the girl he was eyeing at my school (same name as me, but with an "e") and they eventually married. DH was in their wedding. They have 2 beautiful children.

These storeis are all so cute!!!

Tracy

Met my man in Graduate School.....studying of course!!

Met my DH at college. He lived on the same floor as one of my friends from high school. He was dating someone else at the time, but his friend ended up dating my roommate so we had a lot of togetherness. After talking, we realized he had been on an internship in the Florida Keys with my Dsis's boyfriend (only about 20 people from Indiana University went on this trip). Long story short, we eventually ended up dating for 3 years and then getting married (Dsis also married her boyfriend!).

10 years later we are still happily married and are celebrating in WDW next week with our 2 DDs!

Blind date......my best friend and his best friend were dating and they fixed us up. Been married 26 1/2 years!! :love2:

We met in an 'old school' BBS run by a university and mostly frequented by students from everywhere.
