We have the opportunity to go to MVMCP on It's first night this year. Good idea or bad?

Have never attended this event but this will be a short trip and will give us 5 extra hours in MK.

Anyone been on the first night? How is it? Crowded?

My partner and I were there for the first MVMCP last year. It was on a Sunday night. We got there right at 4:00 so we were able to get in and head for the Party Specific Merchandise. We had a Fastpass for the Jingle Cruise (Holiday Overlay Of The Jungle Cruise) at 5:00. We had dinner at Casey's Hot Dogs on Main Street. Then we went off to do some rides. I would not say it was really crowded. There were plenty of people around but it was no where near enough to actually cause us any grief. We always wait to catch the second showings of everything because once the first ones begin LOTS of people are congregated in front of the castle which means almost non-existent wait times on the rides. We caught the second parade of the night and the second castle forecourt show. We actually just sat down on a bench in front of the castle at midnight and just relaxed and waited until the masses had pretty much exited before we headed for the exit. You can actually get into the park beginning at 4:00 with your party tickets. So technically you could get 8 hours at the MK that day. One thing I would NOT suggest is doing any type of table service dinner.

Good info, thanks! I did not realize there would be TWO parades. Is there anything else there are "two showings" of?

We will have hoppers anyway for that day, so we will be probably doing Epcot in the morning/early afternoon. We will likely do a very late lunch or early dinner, if we decide to do TS, otherwise we will just get CS somewhere at MK. Thanks for the reply!
