Anyone know how I can get a discount in September? This is our first trip to Disney and I don't know how these discounts work. We will probably stay at a value resort since we have kids ages 4 and 7, and are trying to get the best deal possible. Any help is appreciated.

If I were you, I'd wait until May and see if they offer the free dining plan to the public. This is the best discount, in my opinion, and worth waiting on. If they don't offer it, the resorts are still in value season, so it will still be a good deal.

Also, go to mousesavers.com regularily. You can subscribe to a newsletter. And the DIS will also list deals for that time of year. Have a great trip!!

Last year we stayed at POP for 7 nts with park hoppers and free dining for $1556.30. It was myself, DH, DD 6 and DS 4. It was a great deal!

Is it best to make a reservation without dining and wait until May to see if we can ADD the free dining...OR, get a package with dining (because we need it either way) and see if we can get the package price reduced if there's a free dining package? Not sure how that works. Thanks!

Free dining isn't always the best deal. If you have a room w/2 adults and 2 children, free DDP is worth roughly $100/night. If you get a 40% off room discount code and the rack rate is $400, that's $160 off.

How about if we have 6 kids? ;) I'll still do the math, but we've got some big eaters! LOL

I'd be interested in advice on this question as well, please. Anyone?

Also, Swan has a sale on for Sept right now.

If you stay deluxe, the 40% off is still the better deal if your kids are 10 and under. Of course w/6 kids, you probably have two rooms so that's another part of the equation.
