Hello all-- I am going to WDW for the first time next week, with DD, age 11.

AK is supposed to be such a huge park, and I know it will be crowded-- is it terribly far to walk between Asia and Africa, for instance? I'm thinking we'll do EE first thing, get FP's for KS, then do Primeval Whirl in Dinoland, Kali, etc...then back to KS. Does this make sense or is it too much walking. (We walk a lot, in general, but when people say how big AK is I begin to wonder.)

Just to give you an idea of how big AK is..you could fit MK, Epcot, and MGM inside AK. That is not to say that getting around from land to land takes forever. I find it very easy to manuver around rather quickly. It is set up in the hup and spoke system just like MK.

My suggestion would be to go through Dinoland 1st thing and get a fp for EE. Then head to KS. There shouldn't be much of a wait if you get there at park opening. Then head back for your return time on EE or stop by Kali which is really close to EE. Keep in mind that you will get drenched on Kali so plan accordingly. After you finish everything you want to do in Asia, you can go back to Dinoland. I think you will find that the park doesn't feel as big as it really is. JMO

Yes, AK covers over 500 acres, but much of that is taken up with Kilamanjaro Safari.

AK is actually pretty small when it comes to walking from land to land.

AK is HUGE, but that doesn't mean a whole lot to you and getting around. AK is as big as it is because it has the safari, the zoo areas, and the biggest back stage facilities one could imagine. (animals have to live somewhere) But that doesn't translate into having to walk a lot. In fact, I would imagine that walking EPCOT is much further than AK. We always go back and forth for FP's and such whenever we are there.

Don't miss "It's Tough to be a Bug". It is a great 3D show inside the Tree of Life. Probably the best 3D every made. Actually, now that I think about it, with the smell and such it is, I guess, a 4d show?

I remember hearing that the entier Magic Kingdom can fit inside the Killamanjaro Safari Ride

Be sure to visit us at Rafikis Planet Watch too......we are worth the train ride there!

This is the one thing at AK I have yet to ride, besides EE. Tell me more about it! And you say "we"? I assume you work there?!?
