DH is thinking about Thanksgiving week of 2004. Will it be packed and crazy? More kids will mean more kids for activities for 11 DD. Thanks!

We went Thanksgiving week of 2002. It didn't seem crazy, but I don't have anything to compare it to. I do know that the ship was not booked fully. I never thought at any time that it was too crowded.

Just wondering if they do a big Thanksgiving dinner on board or is it a regular dining schedule that week? TIA!

We sail every year on Thanksgiving on the Wonder. It's typically a capacity crowd, but it never feels overly crowded. We usually notice more kids on the holiays, so your DD should find plenty of friends on board.
They offer a traditional Thanksgiving dinner in addition to the regular menus.

We did a land/sea combo that began on Thanksgiving Day a few years ago. The price was great, but the ship was booked to capacity.

You would have never guesed how many people were onboard. There are so many different activities and areas on DCL...everyone is spread out!!

Don't let a full ship keep you away!!

Being on the ship on a holiday isn't like being at WDW on a holiday. The ship can only hold a certain number of people....they can't pack them in like they do in the parks. The passenger/space ratios that you can find in the promotional literature are based on full capacity, so you would actually never be crushed by the crowds. WDW can very in attendance from something like 15,000 vistitors in a day to maybe 125,000 in a day.(??) The ship isn't like that. It is full a lot of the time. There will be more children, but there are always a lot and the activities are always plentiful and "up and running." You will pay a lot more for that week vs. the week before or after though.

How is the weather around Thanksgiving? We are also planning to go around that time (eastern)??? Can you swim and wear shorts???

The rates for that week are really high. It would be a great time with DD out of school for 3 days. Maybe between now and then my ship will come in. ;)

The ship was full to capacity, and the only place it was noticeable was Castaway Cay. We were in the middle of the Norwalk virus crisis then, so it was kind of a weird time, but it was great. Normally, the big Christmas tree goes up in the main lobby on the day after T-giving. Bc of the illness, they did not do this.

There was a traditional Turkey meal with all the fixins if you had to have it .. DD and I did...it was just ok, really envied DH's pork dish but I could not bring myself to do it on T-giving! LOL BTW - we were in Parrot Cay and it was semi-formal night. It was fun being all dressed up and in such a festive environment.

You are right that the prices were SKY HIGH. For what we paid that week, we could have cruised the following 2 weeks straight! However, we were very limited last year by my vacation schedule and DD's teacher, so we bit the bullet and it was worth every last bit.
