How bad is it? Positive tests

I am hoping your last statement was just a generalized comment to all and not directed at me. To be clear, My question was if we would be put on a no fly list and for how long. I did not say or mean to imply I or anyone in my party was planning to fly with a positive Covid result. Just trying to make plans for worst case scenarios for the cruise along with my daughter’s move across country 2.5 weeks post cruise.
It was a general statement. My apologies if it seemed otherwise!

As I have noted before, you can celebrate the relaxing of restrictions and mask policies on board, but the cruise lines are just passing the buck. It's a false sense of convenience.

It's no longer about getting sick or needing medical care - it's this travel logistics mayhem that unfolds once you test positive.

I'm not aware of any guidelines anywhere that say you should go to work or get on an airplane with Covid-19.
Do you really think people take tests every time they get on an airplane or go to work? I never have. The point is people are out and about with Covid. If cruise lines didn't require testing people would be getting on ships with covid and no one would care. Most people on here want the testing ended.

Not to pile on but what is this no-fly list for the airlines? At one point in the pandemic they did ask you to attest that you hadn’t recently tested positive for Covid when you checked-in but that went away awhile ago at least for United. I was not asked that question during check-in when I last flew in May. I just assume that someone on every flight I am on has Covid—whether they know they do or not— and mask up.

You said that guidelines changed. I'm pushing back on that. There are no guidelines anywhere that suggest going to work or boarding an airplane when you have Covid-19. And please, don't think that you speak for "most people".

We were on the Fantasy 6/11. One member of our travel party (in a different stateroom) tested positive three days in. (We had brought our own rapid tests and then the positive was confirmed by the medical staff.) Her husband and son were also tested, but were negative at that point, so they were given the option to either all quarantine in the original room together for the remainder of the cruise, or she could go to a new room alone to isolate. She opted for the latter and was given a stateroom on a deck 9 with a verandah - an equivalent room to what she had purchased. From what I understand, Disney took very good care of her. She had an excellent guest services person assigned to her who handled everything - making sure she had an abundance of food, internet access, etc and made arrangements for their departure. The son and husband had to continue testing daily (rapid tests provided by DCL), and a day or two later her son tested positive and joined her in isolation for the remainder of the cruise. They were put on a no fly list, so DCL took care of a 2 BR suite in a deluxe hotel in Orlando (not on disney property). DCL paid for their rental car to the hotel and their meals. Ultimately, they decided to make the 16 hour drive home rather than wait until they could fly again, so I believe their rental and meals on the way home were also paid for. In addition, DCL did prorate the cost of the cruise, refunding any money for missed days and excursions.
This matches the experience we had on the Fantasy 5/21 sailing. My son came down with Covid, and he and I were moved into isolation in a verandah stateroom on deck 5 for the last 4 nights of the 7-night sailing while the rest of our family could go about the cruise normally as long as they self-tested each day. Thankfully none of the rest of us ever got it.

I’m not sure if there’s an actual no-fly list, but the ship’s public health officer and guest services manager made it very clear to us that the rule for flying is still 10 days from start of symptoms (see https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid19.html). The two of us ultimately decided to drive home (the others flew as originally planned), and DCL covered the rental car, meals, and hotel along the way. Alternatively, they would have paid for hotel and meals for our entire party of 5 to stay in Orlando until the full 10 days had elapsed, plus any airline change fees or fare difference.

Of course this was over a month ago, so I don’t know if things have changed.

5 days reduced or no symptoms you can go back to work. They don't even swab people coming into the hospital anymore unless they have symptoms. Yeah, it is most people.

There isn't such a list. There are no-fly lists for other things (e.g. terrorists), but as far as I know, there isn't one for people who have positive Covid-19 tests. That said, when airlines found out about people lying on their attestations, then did start banning them from future flights and giving their information to federal authorities to fine them. I don't know if they'd still bother to do that these days, though.

I don't know about United Airlines, but other airlines are still requiring you to attest that you don't have Covid-19 and haven't recently tested positive for it.

If you're vaccinated and if you wear a mask for five more days, yes. By the same CDC guidelines, you still aren't supposed to travel for 10 days after testing positive.
If you think people abide by these rules then continue to think that.

It can't be that many or they wouldn't be able to operate the ship properly.

Royal only tests their crew like once every 14 days. That's likely how Disney operates by only testing sporadically but someone would need to comment how often the crew tests.

As for testing positive its a possibility. I would simply take extra care leading up to the cruise and on the flights.

We got Covid from our June cruise and at this point if we go on a cruise in December or January I am just planning on being sick the week post cruise.

Fully vaccinated and all that.

This is how I was till I realized it wasn’t worth it and moved if to February, we will do land trips to NYC, etc. but I have a autoimmune and would rather not feel death like the flu I had once in 2014
We went to NYC last month and all 4 of us came home with COVID.

Looking at the bright side, we should be safe on our cruise next week🛳🛳

Did you wear masks inside and outside in NYC we will be doing that. Takeout whenever we can and things outside

We flew delta in May and were never asked if we had covid. We also picked up covid from the airport before the flight home.

No Fly List was the wrong phrase (that’s for extreme cases, like suspected terrorists). There is a No Board List but I don’t know if that’s just self attested or if the cruise line can actually put you on it. My bigger concern was if they can, for how long.

This is helpful to know. We would drive home and knowing they would help with those costs is relieving.

We were one of the unlucky families to have a positive test in our group the night before our Mediterranean cruise in Europe. We heard that a high number could not sail due to Covid (whether testing positive at the port or soon before) — only 1700 out of 1900 made it on board. From following our Facebook group, there are a lot of positive cases on board as well. We wish we had not spent the three days in Italy sightseeing beforehand, and had hunkered down here. There are a lot of cases right now. All four of us are vaccinated and boosted, and the kids were boosted one month before the cruise. Their symptoms are more mild than my husband and I but ALL of us caught it and are now quarantining in an AirBnB in Rome, trying to take things day by day and get better. We’re very sad and disappointed and would not wish this on anyone. :(

losing 200 passengers is not a high number at all. Keep in mind that not all 200 tested positive either it's due to being with that individual who tested positive.
