We have always going to WDW in October/December or April. Because of works schedules in 2006 it looks like the first week in may will be the best time for us to go. How are the crowds and weather?

I would like to hear about this also, we'll be there from 5/13-5/20! I've only been there in the summer or in March up until next year!

From what I have heard, early May is supposed to be good. It is not the value season (lowest attendance time), but it is moderate (not peak, which is what you really want to avoid, in my opinion). I am scheduled to be at WDW May 8-13. The weather is hot, but the kids are back in school from Spring Break, and it is before school lets out for the summer vacation. :flower:

We were there the first week of this past May, actually during the time of the 100 Yr Celebration kick-off so I expected it to be busier than normal and it wasn't bad at all. Pretty much every night they closed one of the parks early for press events. I thought it may make the other parks crowded but I didn't find that to be the case at all. The crowds were light for the most part.

It was also the last of the comfortable (lower humidity) weather so that made it good as well. We had some overcast days but I don't remember much rain. I wouldn't hesitate going back again this time. Definitely lighter crowds then when we've been in April or October.

With Easter being a little later in April in 2006 I'd bank on it being a busy time in April. October has been busier the past few years because of F&W. And, December is always "iffy" of course depending on when in the month. We've never been there this close to the holidays (we're leaving Thurs), so I'll report on that. Early Dec. has always been good for us although been hearing mixed reviews on that this year.

I would imagine it's pretty much like this well into the month of May. I've heard it gets much busier toward the 2nd to the last week (just before Memorial day weekend) since many schools start letting out then.

We were there this past May (6th to the 15th) and it was wonderful. Weather was great and the crowds were not bad. I think it may have been busier than normal because the 50th Anniv. celebration had just kicked off. My sister and I are going back again this year, just the two of us, the first week of May. Gotta use as many days as I can on my AP before it expires!

Early May is awful --- way too crowded and hot -- you don't want to go then. They close all the rides and there is no parade -- only stores are open. Anyone who reads this, you are better off in April or June.

(Just trying to keep my May vacation uncrowded :) :) :) :)

I always look at the scheduled park hours to see what Disney thinks the crowds will be like. We are going May 26-June 2, 2006 and MK is open until 11:00 each night, MGM, 10:00; Epcot 7 and 9; and AK, 7. The parks are open later this week than at any time of the month of May. We are leaving the day after school gets out and even with the Memorial Day holiday we think the crowds will be manageable.
