Although I have FIVE contracts with DVC, including TWO direct contracts, GFV (150) and RIV (194, fixed week)...I guess they still feel it necessary to send this email :

Dear Disney Vacation Club Member,

On behalf of everyone at Disney Vacation Club, Welcome Home. As your home resort is just the beginning of your Membership experience, we wanted to take a moment to highlight other opportunities at your fingertips.

You’ll hear a lot around the neighborhood about something we call “Membership Magic,” which represents the three foundational pillars of the Member experience – Value, Flexibility and The Disney Difference – and is often enhanced by an ever-changing array of special “Membership Extras.”

While new Members must now purchase their ownership interest directly from Disney in order to access these “Membership Extras” (including, but not limited to, select merchandise, Annual Pass and special event ticket discounts; special Member offers, events and experiences; and access to vacation point exchanges in the Disney Collection or Concierge Collection), all Members, including those who, like yourself, did not purchase their ownership interest directly from Disney, enjoy the three foundational pillars of the Member experience. This includes access to select, distinctively themed Disney Vacation Club Resorts† and thousands of other resorts around the world through exchanges with RCI®*, as well as select Member offerings noted on your Membership Identification.

Please note that taking advantage of these offerings and making vacation reservations requires you to officially identify yourself as a Member, and your proof of Membership is available now online at disneyvacationclub.com. Once on the site, simply select “View My Membership Card” from the “My DVC” menu. You can print your identification(s) to carry with you, or – if you’re accessing the site through your mobile device – simply capture a screenshot to present as needed, along with your valid photo ID.

Our dedicated Member Services team is ready to serve you, so please don’t hesitate to give them a call at (800) 800-9800 to make vacation reservations or ask questions about your Membership.

All of us at Disney Vacation Club look forward to welcoming you home for many years to come.

Best regards,

Disney Vacation Club Membership Administration

Why does this annoy me!? This clearly doesn't apply to us yet the verbiage reads rude.

EDIT***

Mystery solved, I received the email because the contract now shows on my dashboard, although with zero points showing available, when I should have 262. As per the chat agent, it could take "several weeks" to show available...of course.

Meh. Doesn't bother me. Seems more informative than rude to me. And we already know that Disney doesn't like resale.

What did you do to trigger getting this notice?

It may be because we are waiting for another resale contract to hit our dashboard. Maybe it is an email they send all "new" resale members before the contract shows on the members end.

I got this exact letter when i bought resale Feb 2021. It was hanging on my fridge. Member Magic is different than Member Extras and that is a good thing.

I just got the same email when they loaded my BRV resale contract yesterday. Like you I have several contracts, direct and resale. It's just a information form letter when they load a new resale contract.

It came from Don O'Treply, the guy that loads contracts at MA: donotreply@disneyvacationclub.com

Anytime companies start talking about “foundational pillars” and defining them as abstract concepts you know management has no idea what they are doing and that they are relying on outside consultants to do their jobs. Disney is definitely in a death spiral of sorts due to incompetent management. But that’s what happens when you no longer hire and promote based on merit.

Disney is the consultants and has been for decades. They have books and whole program and school thing about it. You know, their top notch customer service as housekeeping barges in your room at 8:55AM.

Sounds like something automatically sent for a resale purchase. I would have no issue with getting such an email and would prefer NOT to pay someone to write software or manually look to see who should or should not get the email.

If you already know the info, just use your delete key. Not worth getting upset, IMHO.

In short, I do NOT consider this a very good example of poor customer service.

I suppose I am just easily offended. Personal insecurity I'm sure.

This letter is intended to make you feel good! Good that being just a poor soul only owning resale doesn’t actually apply to you. It’s a reminder to help brighten your day.

While I agree that sending the email irrespective of whether the resale buyer is already a member is NBD, I do think it is important that the information in the email be accurate - DVC cut ties w/ RCI quite some time ago, it’s just sloppy to not have updated that IMO.

I doubt their executives use their inside team exclusively, unfortunately. I know for a fact that they use at least one—McKinsey. I suspect they use others too. I wish they were self-reliant. But you have to remember you are dealing with deeply insecure, incompetent people who did not get where they are because they were the best for the job. Those types of people do not just look to consultants for information, they also go for ego stroking. Above all management consultants are salespeople and they are very good at making management feel important.
