How about a NO KIDS WEEKEND?!?!?!?!

OK ... sap alert!

I honestly couldn't bare the thought of going without my kids or seeing the joy and magic reflected in the faces of other children. I know, I know ... pretty sappy ... just MHO. I have two amazing kids ...12 and 7 and have been a teacher for almost 22 years (and married for 22). Anyway ... I can't help it ... I love kids. Now ... of course, some kids are a bit harder to enjoy than others :rolleyes1 ... but regardless ... it adds to the magic for me.

It would be mostly parents going don't you think!?!?!?!? I don't notice other people's kids when I am out with my own, but when I have a night off the very last thing in the world that I want to do is listen to somebody else's crying kid  !!!!!! I love going to the parks with my kids, but what parent doesn't dream of a child free Disney vacation????? I could just eat my own food, and go "potty" only when I needed to and BY MYSELF!!!!

THANK YOU! I thought I was the only one who thought this way!! If I wanted a vacation without kids, I'd rather go somewhere peaceful where I could just relax...Not WDW! I can't imagine enjoying Disney without family members and younger kids are part of what makes Disney magic for me. You're not sappy at all!!! I 100% agree!!!! :thumbsup2

I have a suggestion to the "kid-free weekend" for those of you who love the idea...What about special days with "kid free" hours? Put use to things like the Neverland club! :thumbsup2

OK sign me up for a "NO KIDS" weekend. Yes I have children and yes I love them but believe me, when I do the rare girls only weekend thing, I come back rested and recharged and my kids are 18 and 21!! AND STILL AT HOME! We're doing a girls getaway to Disney this year for a few days before Christmas. I'm really looking forward to being a silly girl again!

Um, ok, I won't.

it just doesn't sound like it's for you
It's not but I'm still allowed to post my opinion, aren't I? Or this thread only for those that agree with the OP's idea?

I just wanted to put in my two cents that kids being there is what makes the World fun for me and while I would enjoy a weekend without my kids, I would not enjoy a weekend at the World without any kids around.

I love my DD but I have to admit that sometimes I think the reason we fell in love with Disney World is that we went on our Honeymoon, before kids. It was nice to go on your own pace. We would go swimmin at 3 am! I agree that they would probably sell out a no kids weekend.

Same here. DH had never been to WDW before our Honeymoon, so of course it's the same fond memory as you have. I'd definitely be in for a no kids weekend. 2 days out of 365 is really not asking for much if you stop and think about it!!!!

Sounds like a great idea to me. I'm there at least twice a year with my mom and my sister a girls's weekend and love it. We've already got reservations for April and are thinking about when to go in December. It's far less stressful when you don't have to worry about the kids.

:lmao:

I am still half asleep :surfweb: so I did NOT notice that my niece is the OP of this thread, and as I was reading it, I was thinking to myself "this nutcase sounds just like Christie!" :lmao: Then I get to the bottom of her post and see MY name in her signature and realize SHE posted this! :rolleyes1 (She is not exactly a frequent poster on this board, so I never expected to see a post from her ;) )

First of all, I have to say that when I am in WDW, with OR without my own kids, I really pay very little attention to other people's kids. And I don't mean that in a bad way, I just mean that I'm having such a good time that other people's kids just don't bug me or anything.

Secondly, I agree with whoever said that WDW would be SOLD OUT if they ever did this! :earboy2: However, I also agree that it would be kind of strange to be there and not see kids of all ages!

Thirdly, I also understand how parents would want to go to WDW without their kids. Now that my own DSs are older (will be 18 and 15 in the next couple of months), DH and I have been able to go to WDW without them (they don't want to go anymore anyway. lol), and we have a second adults-only trip planned for May. We really had a great trip last fall, and it was nice to just do what DH and I wanted to do, it allowed us to try different restaurants and attractions that we knew DSs wouldn't be crazy about. We did take a family trip to WDW last summer, and they spent most of their time at DTD and DisneyQuest.

The fact that we take DSs on Disney Cruises :boat: (which they DO enjoy! :sail: ) lets us enjoy these WDW trips without feeling guilty. :thumbsup2

Oh, and SusanWasHere, WELCOME TO THE DIS BOARDS!! :welcome: I love your avatar, and in fact just yesterday Robby was cleaning out his closet and found his "Am" stuffed animal (Craig had "Si", who is now in a box up in the attic, I believe. lol), anyway, he put Am on the floor in the hallway and told Mushu "Here you go, Mushu, meet your new wife" :lmao:

Are you all insane? Disney World and/or Disneyland without kids? Going to Disney World without my kids for a weekend -- fine. But a weekend with no kids in the World? How terribly sad that would be. No little princesses. No dirty smiling faces.

I don't care how much of a kid we all become (and I become as big of a kid as anybody when I visit Disney -- sometimes to the complete embarrasment of my oldest DS) but, especially when we're on return trips to a Disney park, as adults, we'll never match the magic that hits a child while he or she is at Disney (unfortunately, I'm not a good enough wordsmith to describe but we've all seen it). To me, the kids are part of the Disney magic.

Again, I could go without my kids and I could even go along with EMH with no kids but a full day? No thank you.

Ah ha, those that object finally show their face!!! I must say though that I'm happy to see the tons of others that would love to see a Kids-Free weekend like I would! SOLIDARITY! hahahaha :grouphug:

SeaSpray...please don't let Mushu reproduce. Between you and Susan, this country will be overrun by WeAreSiameseIfYouPlease's!!!!!!!!!

Why stop at kids? How about nobody else? Just me and whoever I feel like bringing. That way I'll be sure there won't be anyone that I find annoying around. We can call it "plastic bubble weekend". ;)

I'm just kidding, but feel free to flame away. I find it amusing to see a post quoted in that pretty highlight yellow followed by a well thought out opposing viewpoint. It makes me tingle inside. :teeth:

We were just talking about this at airport with other people! We thought it would be a great idea too! We do not have any kids so kids is not part of the Magic for us like it is for other peole. We talked to other couples who had kids and didn't have kids and we all thought adults only would be a great concept for a day, weekend, whatever. We'd all be there!

Thats it...lets start a new club...we'll call it the:

DWAOB

(Disney World Adults Only Brigade!!!!)

Who's with me?!?

:lmao:

My DH and I do not have kids (by choice) it;s not that we don't like kids we just don't like being parents. We travel all over when ever we want. We also love WDW and go often. It is not just for kids...after all, how do kids get there..parents...

There are more adults in WDW than kids, but if you want to go when there are less kids, and parents with strollers, timing is EVERYTHING! We go in September..mid to late in the month. It is after ALL kids are in school and before MNSSHP starts. All I can tell you is it's divine! Everything is walk on or at most a 5 min wait. Restaurants are not crowded, hotels are quiet. We get to the parks at 9:30 after a nice quiet breakfast go where we want, go back to the room late afternoon and go for a swim and a drink and relax before a romantic dinner. The weather is still hot, and there is always the threat of hurricanes, but it is no big deal. It's all good! We were at WDW staying at the GF during a hurricane and it was a blast one of our best stays ever. So you don't need a kids free weekend....there is almost a full month of that. You just have to know when to go. If you don't mind going when there is nothing going on, September may be for you.

Goofie - I am with you on the September thing! DH and I just booked a cruise on Royal Caribbean for September, and we are ecstatic at the thought that it will be minimal kids! My daughter will be staying at my mother's for that week, so it's just DH and I, and some friends. But we thought the same thing about September....oh what a glorious month!!! hehehe!!
