So thinking ahead to the Spring CP, hoping I get in, my 21st birthday is at the end of January. My understanding is that no matter what, if you arrive and you are not 21 you have to be in wellness housing. However, I can move into non-wellness no questions or extra costs when I do turn 21. Is that right?
It's not that I'm concerned about drinking myself, I'm more concerned about getting caught and being terminated because of an underage roommate who may not care about the internship as much as I do. This is obviously just hypothetical and I just wanted to run it by here just to clarify things. I figure if I can, I should take the opportunity to be in non-wellness in order to avoid such a problem. Thanks!

Yes, that is correct. When you turn 21, you are allow to move into a non-wellness apartment without having to pay the fees. Its a very good idea to move the minute you turn 21 so you won't get blame for any alcohol that is found in the wellness apartment. I had this happened to a friend of mine who was 23, but wanted to live in a wellness apartment. Apparently, one of her roommates brought alcohol into the apartment and security found out. Guess who got blamed? The only one old enough to buy the alcohol in the first place. She got terminated. That is why I warn anyone who is 21 and older who wants to live in a wellness apartment to be very careful.

You are correct. I definitely recommend it unless you are getting along well with your roommates and trust them not to bring in alcohol. I have always heard that if alcohol is found in a wellness unit, anybody over 21 is terminated as the automatic provider unless somebody else owns up to it. As alcohol/drug violations are the #1 resaon for termination, there is no way I would be willing to risk it.

Wow alright then I'll definitely have to keep this in mind and arrange for that. Thanks for the advice!

my boyfriend turned 21 3 days after his checkin, you're not allowed to move from the original apartment they assign you until you've been there 3 weeks. . .so anyway. . .they let him move into a non-wellness
