Anyone ever do a house rental in WDW area? I'd need at least three bedrooms.
Any good recommendations on specific management companies to work with? Or where to email/write for brochures and information?

Thanks a bunch.

Hello....There are literally thousands of rental homes within 20 miles of Disney World. They come in 3 to 7 bedrooms and the price can be so reasonable for a family or group that it is hard to believe.
As with any good product or service , the main ingredient is dealing with someone you trust and location, location, location.

The best locations for homes very close to Disney are just off Hwy 192 west of Disney. Locations out on Hwy 27 are farther from Disney but the price may be a little lower.

I would like to give you 3 popular options that thousands of families and groups use every year to rent a home. Each involves a different source of the rental.

1. Direct from the owner...check out
www.vrbo.com
www.greatrentals.com
or www.vacationrentals.com. and link to Florida then to their sites around Disney World. Here you will find hundreds of homes. In my opinion I would concentrate in Emerald Island, Formosa Gardens, Oak Island for homes very close to Disney.

2.Rent from a management company that represents private owners:
www.VillaDirect.com is excellent....you can search number of bedrooms, the dates that you want and they will show you the EXACT home you will get. They represent many of the owners on the 1st site and together they rent out the home.

3.Rent from a big broker of homes or a tour company. Not recommended. You do not know the home or the location.

I think you will really like renting a home. If you would like to email me with questions, don't hesitate. We have taken kids, grandkids and just the two of us from Iowa to Disney 40+ times in the last 30 years and stayed in just about every type of accomodation you can imagine.
Homes or Condos are definately the way to go for a family.
Have fun checking out these sites......It is VERY hard to go wrong renting from an owner as they take pride in their home and really enjoy having guests...and VillaDirect represents the owners, they do not own homes themselves.....Good Luck....Ted

Yes, some can be great deals. My friend stayed in a 4 bedroom 2 bath with pool and hot tub for just over $400.00 for 8 nights, I thought for sure it would be a dive. But it looked great from the photos and they are very picky! They split it with another couple.....talk about a great deal. It took them 15 minutes to get to WDW though, more when it was crowded

another owner site is www.orlandovillas.com which is where we found our 4 bedroom, 3 bath... it was $700 all included for president's week, which i thought was a great deal (we had seven people.) it was in oak island and took about 5 minutes to get to WDW every day.... pretty excellent... it's so nice to come home to a house and not to a cramped hotel room!

I;m renting a 3 bedroom villa for two weeks. Got it on e-bay for a great price. Fifteen minutes to Disney is no big deal. I've read where people on-site wait much longer for buses and have to change transportant several times.

I am a home owner and will gladly answer any questions you may have about renting a home and guide you through the process.I already have a guest from the Dis going in my home later this year so if you want to check me out I can ask her to get in touch with you

This past fall we rented off orlandovillas.com as well. We had a very nice 5 bedroom in Hamptom Lakes(Davenport)-- which was about a 15 min or so drive. We paid $930 for 8 nights including pool heat. Which was nice for a family of 8. We had plenty of room. The place was gorgeous. I would do it again in a heartbeat if traveling with a larger group!!

I've done the rental home thing several times. You can not beat it. There is no hotel that compares to the amenities of a house - full kitchen, washer and dryer, private screened-in pool, multiple tv's, multiple bathrooms and much more.

Several good sites have already been mentioned. Let me add one more.

http://www.windsor-palms-resort.com/

Windsor Palms is a pretty new development located about 10 minutes from Disney. They have 3-6 bedroom houses, 3-bedroom townhomes and 2 or 3 bedroom condos. We stayed there in November and it was wonderful.

I've also rented several houses in the Lindfields neighborhood and would recommend that as well.

Happy to answer any questions.

Steve

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can rent vacation home for 1 month? I would like to be as close to WDW as possible but since I'm considering moving down within the next few years I thought I'd be able to get a better feel for what it would be like to live in FL if I stayed longer and actually looked around at the surrounding towns. Any info would be appreciated. Eileen

All of the sites listed will have places you can rent for an extended stay. They don't just rent by the week, though there may be legal restrictions on how long they can rent to any one tenant. Perhaps JANNYANS can enlighten us on that.
