I'm in the early stages of planning my UK trip for next spring and I need advice on where to stay. I like the idea of B&B's but I've only ever stayed in one once. We plan to fly into London and then travel around England and Wales. Any help is appreciated!

We often stay in b&b's and they are often chesper than hotels (not always though !) hotel chains are mainly based in large towns/cities and you should be able to find a b&b off the beaten track :)

it really depends on where you are visiting as too what is the best option

As Natalie says, a B&B would probably be your best bet for time spend in the countryside or off the beaten track a bit where as you'll probably find it cheaper to stay in hotel chains (ie. Travelodge, Premier Inn, Novotel etc)when you're in a city or town .

Down here on the south coast I live in the New Forest and the hotels actually in the forest can be horribly expensive so a B&B is definitely the way to go.

Probably a good thing to do is when you know where you plan on visiting is to post on here again and you can get some recommendations for other posters, or you can always buy a book on UK Bed and Breakfast places to stay.

Have fun planning :)

If you look on the tourist board sites it will give you a good idea. For example on the 'Yorkshire Tourist Board' site you can do a search for BB's & hotels for a specified date and area.

Hope you have a good trip:)

Thanks everyone for the help! Planning my first "over seas" visit is very over whelming!
