Hi!
Most of my experiences have been good but there are a few items that were ummm... unacceptable. I am willing to admit that I am fussy though.
The tabbouli at Tangerine Cafe in Morocco Epcot tasted very much like they had used dishsoap in place of dressing. Couldn't eat it.
The fish at Yorkshire County Fish Shop in the UK Epcot. The batter was very thick, very greasy and there was a thin layer that didn't cook and was still runny inside. The fish was placed on top of the fries and was so wet that the fries became mashed potatoes. It ended up in the bin.
My friend tried a sausage on a bun from the kiosk on the Boardwalk. It was a very odd grey colour and looked kind of like an overgrown breakfast sausage that had been boiled then left under a hotlamp for the day. She was a trooper though... sadly... it did not stay with her... *sorry*
Tubbi's breakfasts were okay... pretty good actually but a few times I would have loved a simple sandwich. I was shocked at how poor the offerings in the case looked. I think they wanted about $5 for them. One or two slices of questionable meat on white bread that was curling up on the edges. I was really surprised.
I was also really disappointed with the Prince Edwards Tea at the Garden view Lounge at the Grand Floridian. The pate and terrine had been frozen I guess, and was not totally thawed. It was so dry it was crumbly. The potted crab crostini turned out to be a tiny piece of crab, unadorned or prepared in any way atop a small piece of stale baguette. The berries in Cumberland sauce were added to the side of the plate and the sauce ran through everything making each offering taste exactly the same and saturating the pastry on the duck liver (the only edible thing really!) making it a soggy mess. They also ran out of scones and served us a very dry banana bread instead. Hopefully they were just having a bad day.
The funniet one though has to be the pizza from the Sassagoula Floatworks and food factory... ! I picked one of these up for my husband one night and brought it back to the room. We broke... not one... but two plastic knives trying to cut through the crust! We just about died laughing. Thank goodness I had picked up an order of chicken fingers for myself and the order was enormous so I was able to share with him once he gave up on the pizza. The chicken was really great!
Since I have complained so much I should say a few positive things...
We had a great meals of cheeseburgers at Sci Fi and would go back anytime.
Also... believe it or not in December I had a wonderful lunch at Nine Dragons. If you have any inclination to try it despite the poor reviews I can totally recommend the lunch special. It is only about $15.00 for the lunch sampler and is all you care to eat. They bring you some of everything and if you would like some more of any of the dishes they will bring another. They are very quick and friendly and the setting is beautiful.
The won ton soup was a bit bland for me and the ratio of noodle to filling was disappointing, I would go for the Hot and Sour next time... it looked good!
Standouts were the Canton Pepper Beef and the Stir Fried Shrimp with Cashews (small shrimp but still very tasty). The very best though was the Shao Mai! My friend and I asked for more of these two... possibly three times! I would go back for the Shao Mai alone! Some of the best I have ever had.
Okay... I think I have rambled on quite enough... I am hungry now... *want Jiko...*
