Horrible, Awful, Disgusting Meals

We have never had a disgusting experience but I will say the Sci-Fi was not great, and we will not go back.
Also, the Tusker House at the AK was not great. SUPER long lines and mediocre food. It is a counter service place but still...never again.
I ate at Nine Dragons once and it was great. Super food, great service, and huge portions. That was a few years ago so maybe it's not so good now.
The bad reviews of the Storybook breakfast scare me. We have PS for it.
And I love the Alfredo's review. We ate there and deemed it our fave eating experience that trip. The desserts were out of this world. We were going to do it this time but...after the vomit story..maybe not.

Ted, I can pan sear my scallops at home and get them to come out right. I also don't follow this trend of undercooked sea food. I also have problems with the stomach portion of clams and would NEVER eat a raw oyster or clam. My main problem was that when I asked for it to be cooked thru they did not do that and at the prices of Narcoosee it should have been done for me. I had also heard the luau is much better in Hawaii:D . You live and learn..........I now ask for my seafood cooked well. :teeth:

I absoulutely could not stand Boatwrights. We (mother/daughter trip) had breakfast there one day that was close to inedible. My mother had ordered the Boatwright special (or something to that affect) and it came with eggs...she asked for overeasy, they were WELLLLLL done, hashbrowns...which were hard and tasteless and appeared as though they had been left under a heating lamp for hours. I had this banana french toast which sounded great, until it came covered in sugar and burnt. I scrapped and scrapped until there was hardly anything to eat. Plus our service was horrible. Our waitress never came back to ask how things were, or to get any drink refills. After sitting there finished for about 15 min we flagged another server to ask them to find ours so we could get the check.

Other than that I have had, not so good, so-so, good, and great experiences at all other places. There is no where else I will refuse to go back to.

Even though it wasn't part of the question, I just couldn't help put a plug in for Le Cellier. We eat there every time we go, and have never had a bad time. The food and service is always great for us!!!

The worst hands down :

O'hana with Planet Hollywood coming in second.

The lousiest:

Tony's. Blech. That is not Italian Food.

Chips and Salsa at Big River Grille on the Boardwalk. The "Salsa" was spaghetti sauce.

Although I am sure we are in the minority here (and I wouldn't go so far as to say it was horrible, awful or disgusting), our dinner at Artist Point last March was extremely disappointing. My DH and I love fine dining and we were both really looking forward to eating there during our stay at WL. The food was mediocre and the service was terrible. However, it might have been a one-off thing. This year, we will be trying Flying Fish (again...loved it the first time), and possibly Jiko and Shula's.

:p

Planet Hollywood used to be good. In the last 3 of 4 times we have been there the staff are just no interested. Food is just blah.... We have been to PH in Paris, London and Amsterdam and they are all excellent.

Ohana was nice enviroment but I found the food either overdone or rare. I did think the starters were better.

Rainforest cafe. I give up with the one at DTD. They have the worst servers and the food is always a disappointment. Very pricey for what it is also. AK one is better, only just.

I loved that description of Alfredo's.... in fact I might just have to clip it and send it to DH who's away on business.

We tried to have a meal there once... we were shoehorned into a postage stamp sized table against the wall, the server didn't want to give us the time of day- much less take our order.

When the food came (if you can call it food), it was embarrassing for them to be charging those prices for what they served us. I won't even discuss the lack of authenticity; evidently they were serving what they 'thought' we wanted to eat.

We couldn't even get our drinks refilled (and I was drinking water), and we weren't even offered dessert.

However, we've had great/outstanding meals at:Teppanyaki, Le Cellier, V & A, 1900 Park Faire (breakfast and dinner), Kona Cafe (although the Tonga Toast wasn't quite up to snuff this last trip), Artist Point, Spoodles, Flying Fish, Concourse Steakhouse, California Grill, Columbia Harbor House, Restaurant Marrakesh, Boma, Jiko, Beaches & Cream (even though we can't make PSs for it), 50s Prime Time, Brown Derby (better at lunch than dinner JMHO).

Usually Rose and Crown is right up there too, but our last visit was very disappointing. I can't really blame the server (although how hard is it to deliver 2 salads and 2 appetizers correctly?) because he had 6 tables full of diners in a short amount of time. We'll probably skip it next week and hit it again later. We'll be more careful about what time we get our PS for, too!!

All of the above are our opinions though...............

Well I didn't finish reading this thread, but I have to say that there is only ONE restaurant at WDW that we will never try again...Sci Fi Dine In at MGM-Disney Studios! It was AWFUL, and the car seating was the pits! I have had both good and bad at most of my favorite restaurants at WDW--sometimes poor service, sometimes bad food. For the most part the bad times are few and far between. However, Sci-Fi was terrible BOTH TIMES we tried it. I'll never go back.

worst meal?
Nine Dragons. Couldn't even make decent vegetable fried rice.

Sci-Fi order blackened tuna and it was over cooked in spite of specific instructions that I wanted it rare.

Alfredo's Lousy attitudes on the part of the wait staff. Food was really bad too.

Hollywood & Vine - Made me sick, had an annoying waiter who wouldn't stop talking to us while we were trying to eat, and very loud. with all the aluminum around.

Planet Hollywood - Loud

Mama Melrose - We just had the pizzas and they were the greasiest things! If we go again we'll try something else

Breakfastosaurus - Food was not warm and the place is JUST TOO BIG to only have 4 characters moving around. It took well over an hour for us to get to see them all.

We were really disappointed with Tony's. Really unimpressed with the menu. I usually like to try something different, but somehow ended up with a mediocre plate of spaghetti, for lack of anything more appealing.

Crystal Palace lunch (about 3 weeks ago) was also a letdown. We had PS for 11:35--right after they started serving lunch. Every time I went up to the buffet, all I saw was empty serving dishes. The first time, to make a plate for my son, the children's buffet was barren--no chicken, no mac & cheese. Ended up with PB&J. Again, I also thought the menu was lacking.

By comparison, we thoroughly enjoyed the dinner buffet at Hollywood and Vine.

Breakfast at Tony's in MK was the worst. The cinnamon rolls were burned, small portions that were cold, etc. The waiter could have cared less that we weren't happy. We won't be returning here for sure.

Sci Fi would be second with overpriced bad food.

This was at the Food and Wine celebration at Epcot 3 years ago. My husband and sister in law decided that the lefse ( spelling?) looked good and shared a piece. It was a flat bread rolled in cinnamon and sugar from norway I think. They both got violent food poisoning that left them up all night competing for the "throne". Best part was when SIL threw up in her shirt at Sea World the next day to " avoid a scene"..yuck.

Chloe'smom,
It's hard to imagine that a cinnamon bread would be the cause of someone's food poisoning. Maybe something from earlier in the day caught up with them by chance just after eating the bread???? l

My sister in law is a twig...eats 2 bites and is stuffed. The Food festival was our dinner and lunch was 7 hours earlier. The bread was all she ate that night and she felt ill while we were still at Epcot. My husband ate some chicken but we shared it and I was fine. I think the bread was rolled in egg, dipped in the cinnamon and then baked or fried. My husband commented at the time it was mushy on one end and stopped eating it when he realized this so the best we can figure is that it was uncooked or undercooked. Leave it to my husband to get sick from bread!

It is hard to imagine Lefse doing that, plain old lefse that is.,. I bet you are right, maybe it was rolled in egg or something, it had to be if it made them sick. . Lefse is made out of potatoes and flour and is flat, almost like a tortilla. It is actually very very good (usually).

I have family up in Northwest Wisconsin and you see them selling lefse there in the grocery stores. We would buy it up there on visits, bring it home warm it up and slather it in butter... LOL!

Getting sick on it is a big UFFDA! :)

I am wracking my brain and can't think of any truly awful experiences in our 5 trips. I like trying new places but I'm relatively cheap and avoid the really pricy ones.
We probably won't go back to Sci-Fi. Had a good experience with solid burgers the first time--the second time they were gross.
We've done Chef Mickey's 3x for dinner and once for breakfast--I think we are "chef Mickey'd out", because in December we skipped it and I don't know if we'll do it in July or not. It does seem pricy for the food--although I love the prime rib and the desserts.
We've had good food many other places, but the all-time best was Flying Fish, where we ate in July with my parents--my dad (a guy who has to have a rare steak cooked just so) just commented again yesterday (7 months later!!) about how wonderful his steak was, and that it probably ranked in the top 5 he has ever had--and this guy knows his beef. Cost almost $300 for 4 adults and 3 kids--luckily dad was paying too! ;) I loved it but won't go back until I win the lottery, as I'm too cheap!
