My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon, and we're trying to decide on which resort would best suit us and our special occasion. I have been to WDW several times staying at either the Polynesian or All Star Music Resorts (or off-property - NOT my choice).

We have looked at some books and the Planning Kit DVD and online; it looks like our top 4 choices are the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian, or Caribbean Beach Resorts. All seem to have their pros and cons.

We're going to be visiting at the beginning of next January - so pools really don't matter to us. However, she did mention that she would like a whirpool/jacuzzi tub. We're looking to spend 7 days/6 nights, and while I don't want to spend a fortune on the trip, I don't want to be stingy either.

If anyone has stayed at any of these resorts or has been for a honeymoon, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I know that some of these resorts have honeymoon suites too (I'm sure they cost extra as well). I'm looking to give her the best experience possible since she hasn't been to WDW since she was 5. And, in my opinion, it starts with the perfect resort.

In advance,
Thanks for all your help!

I'm staying at the Wilderness Lodge for my honeymoon in May. If she really enjoys the outdoors and especially the northwest (National Parks), she may enjoy staying at the WL. I think the WL looks wonderfully romantic and I've heard it has some great nooks and crannies to go off by yourself.

For a moderate, I've heard that Port Orleans - Riverside is very lush with beautiful gardens. However, I think I noticed that you were from Louisiana so you may not want to do that since it may feel like your too close to home.

If you can afford the Grand Floridian, that would definitely be nice and it's probably the most expensive unless you find a discount. Second choice, would be a toss up between Wilderness Lodge & the Polynesian.

Caribbean Beach Lodge was one I also considered, but was not the top of the list choice and I think you would be happier with one of the other choice above that are in the Deluxe category.

Yeah, we've had recommendations for the Port Orleans, but living right outside of New Orleans, we want to kinda stay away from that.

I don't know if this is a factor to you or not, but the only King beds at the Poly are in the suites (which are pretty pricey). This is why my DF said no to that one.

I think Wilderness Lodge would be a good choice (not that I'm biased or anything  ) We are staying there because we definitely wanted to stay at a Deluxe for our Honeymoon but not with the higher prices. We're working with Dreams Unlimited and they have been great helping me with the details so far. We're getting a woods view, which I think will be romantic. And their are two hot tubs on property which might be nice for the two of you.

Happy Planning!
Ashley

You mentioned that your Fiance was interested in a Hot tub. From what I understand, the Polynesian does not have one. I am sure you will have a wonderful time no matter what you decide! Happy planning!

We stayed at CB and really didn't care for it. It was just too spread out. The bus service took forever. I just didn't feel the Disney magic here. This year we are trying WL. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

We did our January Honeymoon at the WL, and just returned from our 10th Anniversary. So don't go there, it's ours. pirate: But seriously, for that time of year, I would suggest WL. The fireplaces on the upper floors are nice /romantic when you return from a cold day at the parks, or a night at PI.

DH & I went on our honeymoon in 2000 and were debating between Grand Floridian and Yacht Club. We went with Yacht Club and loved our choice! The hotel is beautiful and everyone there was wonderful. And the area was perfect for us. With the parks not open as late, we'd walk to the Boardwalk. They had great desserts there too, and at Beaches and Cream. And we walked to Epcot almost every day for some meal as well. I would suggest looking into YC or BC.

I stayed at WL two years ago and would definitely recommend it for a honeymoon. I think it's romantic and different than what you're used to in LA. The fireplaces are nice and Artiste Pointe restaurant is fabulous. My friends honeymooned there and loved it.

I find that WL is more reasonable than the Poly and definitely GF because it's not on the monorail. The boat service to MK is great and the bus service is also very good.

The Poly is nice too. I think the Yacht Club is also a good choice.

I'm pretty much on the same page with a lot of you. I think she's kinda worried about price and THAT'S really why she suggested the CBR. I also heard that it's VERY spread out and the bus service there isn't that great.

I suggested the YC/BC or BW but she really didn't seem interested. She likes the WL, but again, price kinda has her worried. If anyone has stayed in these resorts and suites there, please let me know.

I think you need to so to the one with the theme that she likes. If we were on our honymoon we would go to the WL or the YC. YC has a great pool and several hot tubs. You are also right next to the Boardwalk that is fun to visit. They also have a few quiet pools that were emply the couple of times we used them. We love the theming at the WL. It can be very romantic.

Have a great time.

Hi!
A Honeymoon is a Special Event, After that event, the cards fall as they may in the future , but ENJOY YOUR WDW Experience, I mean is that children nine months from the WDW visit may not allow a return for a while, a breakup of the nuptuals, or financial down turn ( job loss ) may postpone a soon return to WDW.
Think about if you (both ) want, share your childhoods at the MK vs Epcot vs MGM or just veg-out at a pool, golf, or some non parks activity.
Not knowing your ages hinders a suggestion relating to Nite Clubing vs Romantic stolls along a white sandy beach watching fireworks luminate the skies over the MK.
In 1977 we stayed on our honeymoon at the Disney Golf Resort aka Disney Inn aka Shades of Green, and did not return til 1987.
After that we have returned numberus times with our children to almost all of the WDW Resorts using the ammenities suited to our Family Needs.
The Theme of each of the Disney Resorts should be looked at as to your requirements in reserving a honeymoon experience.
January, if I remember is a good time to book a HIGH END Resort at a lower rate ONLY if it fullfills YOUR NEEDS.
One final note, when you have book THAT WDW Resort, mention to the Cast Member at CR this is your Honeymoon, plus call THAT WDW Resort 30 days before your arrival and ask for the name of the Resort Mgr, thus write a nice romantic letter to the Manager informing him/her of the Special Visit Event and mail atleast 10 days prior to you arrival.
THE RESORTS Mgrs we have conversed with have not disappointed.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, SENT AN E-MAIL!!!!!

My dh and I spent our honeymoon at the Wilderness Lodge and loved it! The hot tub is awesome after a long day at the parks and eating all that wonderful food at WDW. The resort is very romantic. We love getting a drink and walking around the hotel after the parks close-there are all kinds of nooks to just spend time together. The lobby is breathtaking everytime you walk in. We had a regular room however requested a king bed. The room was very nice. We resort hopped and visited the cbr and I agree with the above post it is way to spread out we walked alot, although it is nice but the WL lobby is just so beautiful! My honeymoon was my first Disney trip and now 6
1/2 years later, 3 more disney trips, and 2 days ago became a DVC member at Wilderness Lodge, we still talk about our wdw honeymoon so I'm sure you'll make a good choice-she already choose you so she's got to have great taste right?
Congrats! Have Fun!

At the time of the honeymoon, I will be 25 and she will be on the verge of 24 (about 2 1/2 weeks to be exact). She LOVES the beach, although she did agree that she did NOT want to go to the beach in January. Therefore, we ruled a cruise out. I LOVE Disney and she is excited about returning after nearly 20 years. She is a very romantic minded person and I think she would LOVE the seclusion we could get at the WL. She mentioned the whirlpool/jacuzzi tub in the room and has said that we don't have to get a room with one since.

I truly think she is worried about pricing. I have told her though, this is our honeymoon. I don't want money to be an influence on any decisions. We get this once in our lives and I want it to be perfect for her and myself.

I just think the CBR, after looking at pics, doesn't suit what we really want. There are no REALLY nice restraunts there, it's REALLY more out of the way then I would like.

She knows that we have to book as early as possible. PLUS, she wants to go with the dining option on the vacation plans, that way we have to bring less cash with us (which makes sense to me).

We honeymooned 13.5 years ago at the Beach Club and loved it!!! Loved the decor of the resort, loved the location, loved the pool(in case it is hot enough to swim, there is no beating SAB).

If I was honeymooning again, I'ds go right back to the Beach Club. As a matter-of-fact, DH and I have stayed there every time we went for a big anniversary (ie 5 yeras, 10 years).

In January, you may be able to get some deals too.
