Holy Diagon Alley Batman!

INow, can you explain why Universal told people that Gringotts was to be open at 9am this morning and allowed people in the line within the attraction and then not communicate with them. Only for it just to start being operational at 1130am?
I don't know. Last time I flew back here to Orlando, why did Southwest tell me the plane was leaving at 3pm when it didn't leave until nearly 7pm? Why did my doctor tell me to show up for my appointment at 10am last week and then didn't see me until 11:30am? Perhaps unexpected things just happen in life.

Shouldnt the leader in innovation/technology be better than Disney when opening a new attraction? Shouldnt they execute better than this?
They are executing better than Disney simply by having a new attraction.

btw: Why were there 5 hours waits to meet Anna and Elsa at Magic Kingdom? Disney's execution fails lately when all it involves is hiring a couple extra college girls to play dress up. Can't imagine how well they would do if technology was involved in a new attraction. Fortunately they're sticking with what they know...new parades, new merchandise, a corny sing along and a renamed fireworks show. :lmao:

But if Universal is the new standard in innovation/technology as we have been repeatedly told and better than Disney then they shouldnt be having the same issues as Disney now should they?

The obvious question is why did they rush opening an attraction that wasnt ready to be opened yet.

And more specifically, why did they allow people in line for Gringotts this morning telling people it would be open at 9am and now just have it up and running at 11am? Now the posted wait time is like 7 hours.

Do you honestly not appreciate the difference between a technological advancement in the creation of an attraction and a technical failure in the operation of said attraction? Is it not possible to have a state of the art technological wonder, and still have an operational issue that needs to be fixed? The fact that something isn't working properly is not proof that the creator isn't in fact ahead of its competition.

Space Station to Mission Control: "We are having an HVAC issue up here and I am recommending that we return to earth until it can be fixed."

Mission Control to Space Station. "Roger that. Looks like the United States isn't any more advanced technologically than Borneo."

Yeah, I just added Plutomars to my ignore list. I generally like to hear from both sides of an issue, but I believe he is here just to stir.

That will work until they return under their fourth or fifth (at least) online persona.

Anyone who argues that Universal hasn't won the "battle" for great attractions added in the last few years is being disingenuous. It's been more than 5 years since WDW added two AMAZING attractions (Toy Story and Expedition Everest). I mean, I love the Little Mermaid ride and I can't wait to ride Seven Dwarfs, but that's really not much compared to what Universal has done this current decade.

But (and I've said it before) I, personally, don't go to Orlando strictly for rides. And that's why Disney will win every time for me.

SO you would have waited in a line at 7am this morning when Universal workers told you that the attraction would open at 9am only to have them finally have it up and running by 1130am?

You think its acceptable for Universal to allow people to start lining up within the attraction when they really dont know when the attraction will be fixed?

I'm guessing most of the people there in line were there for just that ride. They'd be lined up no matter when they were told it would open. I'm sure they'd prefer a shorter wait, but they'll wait no matter what. The employees may even be encouraging people to get out of line but they won't (for all we know).

Or maybe too many people figured out how to use the ignore function.

And with the click of the "mouse" it's complete! Now stop quoting him already people so we don't have to see his drivel.!!:thumbsup2

I can't recall the last time that I so thoroughly agreed with every word, syllable and letter of a post as much as I agree with this one. :thumbsup2

Amazing how many people are getting off of Gringotts after a multi-hour wait only to tweet that it was sooooooooooo worth it. This one was very cute .....

Maybe I'm just a jaded cynic but she sounds kinda emotionally unstable to me. Or a teenage girl. Same thing, I guess. ;)

We also need to keep in mind that Diagon Alley is geared towards a HARDCORE fanbase which has no issues waiting hours to experience their dreams come to life. If Disney opened a star wars land, I would wait days to experience walking through Tatooine or any other planet.

Same here.

Apparently they were also handing out free bottled water to those waiting inline vs. rolling out a cart and offering to sell it after their groundbreaking, innovative, cutting edge technology didn't work...:rolleyes2

Hoodligan ‏@michaelsgoods 3h They're handing out complimentary water bottles in line for #gringotts how nice

Wait... was Disney really selling water to people stuck waiting in line for the Seven Dwarfs?

Please don't tell me Disney really selling water to people stuck waiting in line for the Seven Dwarfs. :crazy2:

True. But that fact cannot be used to blame, criticize or diminish what Universal did. It chose a franchise that people wilt over. Disney chose Avatar which people...well....we shall see. But I don't think too many people here envision a HARDCORE Avatar fanbase the likes of what we would see with HP, SW, LoTR, Star Trek, Marvel or even "Best of Pixar".

No but apparently they had a major glitch last week or week before where many people were refused entry to MK and told to go stand in GS line for hours to get it fixed. Disney apparently rolled out water carts to sell water to people in the GS line.

Oh, ok... well that's like 10 times worse.

Avatar is a fairly young franchise so it's unfair to cast judgement on that until the remaining movies are rolled out in a few years. I agree it's a gamble on Disney's end but they saw potential in the first film's earnings.

I was relating it more to the "waiting on line" aspect of the argument in this thread. It's alot easier to wait on line for something you have been a die hard follower of for years.

Agree. But again, Disney opted for a franchise that does not have followers who have been die hards for years. Their choice. Could be a bad move. People carrying light sabres, wearing Spock ears, or donning T-Shirts that say: "Frodo Lives!" would (in my guesstimation) wait a lot longer for attractions based on their passion than people will for Pandora. Time will tell.
