May 2 – Disney’s Hollywood Studios anniversary celebrations
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Yesterday was the 20th anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A special rope drop ceremony was held at 8am which featured vice president of the park, Rilous Carter, and a few of the “streetmosphere” characters. Guests were also invited to a special talk by Disney Imagineers who worked on the creation of the theme park. One interesting moment in the talk came when they were discussing the park’s full size replica of Graumann’s Chinese Theater which is currently hidden behind the giant Sorcerer Mickey Hat. One inagineer made the comment that his favourite view was of the Chinese Theater but you couldn’t see the view as they intended anymore but “we will get this view again sometime soon”. Could this be a clue that there are plans to have the hat removed?

Sounds like it was a lot of fun - but what's that about the hat??
Has anyone else heard any rumours??

On reflection I would be surprised if they did get rid of it.

All of the souvenirs they sell around WDW promoting the 4 parks uses the hat to symbolise Hollywood Studios.
What would they use if they got rid of it?

They could always go back to using the Earful Tower.

Plus, having been the last 3 years and seeing the same merchandise again and again it would be nice if they brought out some new stuff, as previous poster mentioned, using the Earful Tower or something in its place.

And dont get me wrong, I like the Big A*** Hat. Just seems like the construction guys dumped it down in the wrong place when installing it :rotfl:

I read that on WDWMagic - I don't know what I think. It is in a weird location and doesn't serve a great deal of purpose......

Shortly after our first trip, I walked in on my DDs watching an episode of Extreme Makeover and the family whose house was being made over were being filmed in front of Graumann's Chinese Theater. I thought the family must have been sent to Disneyland until they started to show them in other parts of the park that I did recognise. I hadn't even noticed the theater on our first trip :scared1: so definitely made a point of having a good look round the next time! :rotfl2:

I love the hat :wizard: but it would be lovely to see the view they intended. :)
