History Buffs: What's your favorite part of history to read/study about?

I love Hawaiian and Asian history. I based my first book on what I know so it has been a blessing to me to intertwine my love for history and writing.

I also love world history that explains what is happening now, such as during the times of the Silk Road and also in the Middle East.....

It's so hard to narrow it down and just pick one. lol

This is also what is interesting me grlpwrd.

Maybe because i'm not as familiar with Asian history (Chinese, Korean, Mogol, the Indian Ocean countries, the Silk Road countries etc.) & Polynesion countries & migrations, this is what interests me now.

Interesting to see how backwards Europe was for over a 1000 years (compared to Asia). Also to learn about the ancient asian migrations into the americas (and becoming "native" americans).

The American Civil War, Imperial Russia (especially the rule of the last Czar, Nicholas II) the Renaissance, and World War II. I love history, it's always been my favorite subject. My friends think I'm crazy when they find out I read history text books for fun. It's hard to do with work but any chance I get I love to go hang out at Barnes and Noble for hours, just reading through all the books on history they have there.

I'm a big fan of 18th/19th century English history. My Master's thesis was Didactic Literature and the Role of the Victorian British Middle-Class Housewife. Doing research was so much fun (yay for the British Museum and their primary sources! ).

I love the steadfast rules of etiquette, gender relations, and social class interaction and have a special place in my heart for period piece movies.
