ALS is so brutal, just seeing reports on t.v. The pain associated with it is very hard. Your dad sounds like he's been in a battle for awhile. Did you see the piece with Anne Curry on her dad with cancer? Very touching and her dad seemed like a lovely person. His last words were "I can feel the winds are changing", "time to turn this ship around". He fell asleep and never woke up. I cried during that part really hard. He sounds like he was a wonderful man and I'm sure your dad is too.
At least he listens to your political views. My dad is a die hard Republican and he doesn't like me being an independent. He doesn't like me to talk about Hillary or Obama. Sometimes he just says blah blah blah. I tell him, nice maturity dad. He has to laugh. I try not to talk politics with my dad, it drives him crazy.

Yes, it is brutal and seeing a person you love go through it is so much worse then what they show on TV. :(

Uh nope, I said Obama is SMART in knowing just what to say. That is different then being intelligent

BTW, I am not saying Obama is stupid. I know he isn't. Just like Hillary and McCain are not stupid.

I just don't feel Obama is intelligent enough to run this Country!

Yeah, they pass out those Harvard law degrees to everyone. :confused3

I have been wondering where I fall into, uneducated white folk or older woman? ;)

Me too. What does "older" woman mean? If it's over 40-that's me (just barely). I can't say that I'm uneducated though since I have a professional degree in addition to a baccalaureate from one of the best universities in this country. I don't like guns and I sure don't go to church. :lmao: I just don't fit anywhere.

:rotfl: Ok, having a law degree from Harvard makes you the best candidate to run the Country? OOOOOK!!!!! :lmao:

Well if Obama had a degree from Harvard and a degree from Yale, he'd be just like Bush. :rotfl2:

I don't fit in anywhere either. I am 36, not really "older" unless older is over 30

Uneducated? Well, I have a teaching degree. Although now I am a stay at home mom, so maybe that makes me uneducated ;)

I don't like guns, but I do attend church. I guess I am just all mixed up :upsidedow

You're a mixed breed that has mommy mush brains. I'm a SAHM and that's what I call it after years of going through diapers and tantrums. My mind can't focus on much else.

Did you guys see the media around Cindy McCain and her in Vogue magazine? She's one classy lady!

Hi folks.

Just wanted to stop in and say thanks for those well wishes and prayers.

My Mom passed away last night.

Please remember that there's more to life than this political fight we have going on here.......
Oh no! I'm so very sorry.

And you're right. This is what really matters.

Thank you!
One day at a time.
Yeah, I may get a little ruffled up here on these threads, but in the end I don't let anyone say really bother me.
Life is way too short and I have more important issues to deal with at home then what others think of me on here.

When I turn off the computer I let all the debates and such go away too.
Spending time with my dad and family is the most important thing right now.
I'm sorry to read about what you and your family is dealing with. Life is definitely way too short. :sad1:

 I'm so sorry for your loss! Unfortunately, your post got lost amongst the other posts and had a hard time finding where I left off.
You are in my thoughts and prayers while you put your mom to rest. :sad1:

I've decided to quit fighting with people. If an interesting post appears to be baiting or argumentative, I'll read it and then move on without comment. If it's friendly and the poster wants to discuss issues then I'll respond if I think I have anything to contribute. Maybe some of the HS could consider trying that too? It takes two to fight after all.

Some people who post or have posted on this thread are dealing with really major things. I think that the bickering and endless arguing is so pointless in restrospect. But of course, as always, YMMV. :)

I have to go clean the laundry room anyway and being here is not getting that done. Talk later,

True and I do usually let things go especially when they sound like a bait or argumentive. The past couple days I guess I just fell into the bait, especially after the watermelon and fried chicken comment :headache:

Oh well, read and more on is my new motto
Don't sweat the small stuff ;)

Besides I would love to have this thread get back to what it was made for
HILLARY and her supporters :woohoo:

I am off to play the Game of Life with my son
Later :)

That comment (bolded above) gets me. I can't believe that someone would play that kind of game over here. I'm glad I wasn't around when it was made because I have enough trouble keeping my mouth shut and not saying the wrong thing. :sad2:

Have fun playing Life. :thumbsup2

How is accusing Hillary supporters of being racist any different than accusing Obama supporters of being misogynist? That seems to be perfectly acceptable on this thread, right?

This quote bothered me and since I'm one on this thread that has brought up the sexism issue; I feel that I should respond.

I have not accused any Obama supporter on the DIS of sexism. I don't know if any of you are sexist or are not. I stay off the Obama thread, for the most part, to see whose viewpoints are what. Occasionally I peek in to see what's going on when I find a reference to it elsewhere - but a lot of the posts in the Obama thread have upset me and I don't always find them to be accurate -- just like a lot of the posts in the Hillary thread upset a lot of you (you being the collective OS) and you don’t find to be accurate.

I did want to point out that there is an issue in this political race of sexism and double standards that has largely been ignored. It has been brought up and discussed numerous times any racial issues that have arisen, but any sexism issues get dismissed and Hillary is just passed off as being a whiner. So, that’s why I wanted to strongly point out that sexism does exist in this race as it’s been ok to acknowledge and discus that racism has played some role but it’s coming across that any sexism occurring is not to be acknowledged and is to be dismissed.

And I don't believe any of us have gone over the the OS thread to strongly imply that 'the only reason you're not voting for Hillary is because you are sexist' but we've had a couple of OS come over here and strongly hint that we are all racist because we don't want to vote for Obama.

Todays Hillary news, in ref to RFK...Press is certainly making a MOUNTAIN out of a molehill!
