Hillary Supporters unite part 2; no bashing please

Does anyone have anything positive to say this morning? I'm down in the dumps and I'm usually pretty upbeat and I have a final tonight and a vacation in 3 days...I feel like crap. I actually had tears in my eyes for the first time during this campaign. Sigh...
 And some final exam pixie dust! pixiedust:
I would really like to hear some serious talk from both campaigns about the dream ticket. I think it's the very best way forward. Any thoughts?

I would too! Thanks for the cyber hugs! I have to go now and get some last minute studying done, but will come on tonight after my final to chat and read what has been said during the day.

I would like to keep this board positive about Hillary. Sorry if my post got anyone else down in the dumps. I was trying not to do that.

Yes she will!!!

Yes. I don't care about the sniping that's gone on between the two sides. Whether it be Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, we have TWO great candidates to choose from that can take back the White House for this country. (And who knows, it's still possible they could do it together!) Neither Hillary nor Obama will come out of this as a loser. The GOP and John McCain, they will be the loser!

Feel better. Good luck on your final. And then go enjoy your vacation! :)

I've been in favor of this from the beginning! I think that the two combined would handily beat anyone. I'm not as sure how either would do separately.

Can we please stop with the conspiracy theories and name calling? Some serious sour grapes going on.
Apparently you didn't hear what the man said? He came across as a jerk and I calls 'em like I sees 'em. Sorry if that offends you.

Also this is the place for 'sour grapes' and other such comments. No, we won't stop if it feels right to say these things.

BTW, I was just doing a google news search on Hillary and came across this quote of hers, I've never seen before. It's a great one!

"We need to get on the track in America and get towards the finish line to change this country," ... "You want to go forward you put it in D. You want to go back you put it in R"

Lastly, I can name about 15 reasons why I have said I would not vote for Hillary if she somehow got the nomination at this point. Probably more than 15. Yet I keep seeing people here say they "just can't" vote for Obama, and have yet to see a single solid reason why they say that. Exactly what has he done to cause people to have this kind of reaction? He hasn't unfairly attacked anyone. He hasn't been caught telling tall tales about anything. The worst thing he's been even accused of is having poor judgment when it comes to his choice of churches. Is that really enough to cause "lifelong Democrats" to feel like they "can't" vote for him? :confused3

Congrats on the win in Indiana, and the upcoming wins in WV & KY.

I just want to say, I don't have to explain or even give a reason to anyone why I will not vote for Obama.

Besides the reasons I give to you, you will find reasons to say that isn't true. But that is how I see things. You have your opinions about Hillary that I do not agree with. That is the beauty of opinions, no two are the same ;)

I am a believer in following your heart and your gut. Haven't you ever came across someone that you just don't care for, you really don't have a "good" reason but something in your gut is telling you don't trust this person?
Well, that is what my gut is telling me. I can not trust Obama.
I feel he will make a bad president.
When I hear him talk I hear nothing but fluff. I don't see president matariel with Obama.
Now he has potential in the future, but I feel he isn't ready now.
Honestly he needs to grow up a bit.
I feel he stinks (that is putting it mildly) at debates and the GOP will eat him alive and spit him out in the general.
I feel Obama as a leader of this Country will cause more harm then good or the best case is if Obama were to get elected as President then he would be a Jimmy Carter, a president that did nothing! Sadly if that happens then we will hand the White House back over to the Reps in the next election.

And since I have heard more than one person say they won't vote for Hillary because of something Bill did or did not do, then I can honestly say I can NOT stand Michelle Obama. Her as a first lady makes me sick! She is a bitter, bitter lady. You can hear it when she talks.

Now I suppose you can pull this post apart and defend Obama, but it doesn't matter. You will not get me to vote for the guy, period. I have made up my mind. Just like YOU made up your mind NOT to vote for Hillary and no one can change that.

I can accept that not everyone likes Hillary and has their reasons they don't like her, even if I don't agree with those reasons. Why can't you accept that not every one likes Obama and has their reasons, even if you don't agree with those reasons?

I do not like Obama plain and simple!

If you honestly want opinions from both camps....At one point, I was getting on-board that bandwagon as well. I think it would truly unite the party if that were to happen, even today.

However, I honestly think it would be very difficult at this point for Obama to add Hillary to the ticket. After some of the things she's said during the campaign...I mean, it'll be bad when the Republicans run out the ads featuring Hillary saying that she's "passed the test" and so has McCain, while all Obama has is a speech he gave in 2002. But it would be that much worse if the ad ran while Hillary was running as the VP to the man she said wasn't qualified for the job.

Maybe it would be something that they could overcome, and maybe not. But it certainly would be an obstacle, and one that would need to be addressed before any talk of a combined ticket could progress at a high level.

BTW...There is a hilarious article at DailyKos today about McCain and all his talk about the "League of Nations" and saying that they need missile defense in "Czechoslovakia" - a country that hasn't existed in roughly 16 years. :lmao: I'd link to it, but the language in the comments sometimes gets kinda rough, so you'll have to look for it.

Honestly, at this point I think that is the only way to get a Dem in the White House.
Obama can't win it without Hillary supporters
Hillary can't win it without Obama supporters

I have already gone on record that having Hillary as a VP would be the ONLY way I will vote for Obama in the general. I won't like it and I will have to hold my nose, but I think it will position HIllary for a Dem nomination in the future so THAT is why I would do it. Not because I think Obama can do a good job as President

Secondly, we on the Obama thread talk badly about Hillary. You on this thread not only talk badly about Obama, but about US. If you can't see the difference there, then I suggest you take a step back and look over the insults thrown at "OS" on this thread. If it feels like it's getting personal to you, you might want to think about the fact that it was you guys that made it that way.

Uh no. I'm not letting you get away with that one. You want to look at the origin of situation? Look in the mirror. Almost everyone of the Hillary supporters started out okay with Obama as a second choice. The real animosity started when you and a couple of other OS repeatedly talked down to us as though we were too stupid to grasp the wonder of Obama. You and and several other posters repeatedly made derogatory comments about some people needing to be "spoon fed." You dismissed us for wanting Obama to speak about issues. Yes we made Kool-aid comments and those were certainly inappropriate. But they were in response to your attitude towards Obama and towards anyone that questioned Obama. Never once did you treat us like fellow democrats working through the process together, you treated us like the stupid ugly step sister and then act surprised when we retaliated.

Even now you still arrogantly come into our thread to "correct us and straighten out our facts" Despite us repeatedly asking you to stop, you continue to do so. I can't even count the number of times you've said you'd leave the thread and yet...... you always come back to "straighten us out" You're one of the top posters on a thread for Hillary supporters - does the irony of that escape you?

I have posted in the Obama thread exactly one time. And only to express my sympathy on the banning of some of your members. I would never have the audacity to correct you and belittle you in your own clubhouse. But it's never once stopped you. You seem to be totally oblivious to the fact that a lot of what you do is only feeding the fire and creating animosity.

You talk about Hillary aiding the Repubs. But where was your party loyalty? When some right wing nut started a thread about hildebeast? That's one of the vilest most despicable terms those thugs ever came up with and you just blew it off. Yet as much as we've come to hate Obama every one of us stand up for him every time the Muslim issue comes up. And now you're talking about how you're going to actively support McCain? I think you're the one that needs re-evaluate your party loyalty.

Lastly, I can name about 15 reasons why I have said I would not vote for Hillary if she somehow got the nomination at this point. Probably more than 15. Yet I keep seeing people here say they "just can't" vote for Obama, and have yet to see a single solid reason why they say that.

We have explained it. We've explained over and over. But you were too busy dismissing what we were saying. You've made no effort to actually listen to our concerns. Frankly I don't feel like I have to defend myself in this thread of all places.

I propose a truce.

I have always heard the term "Memory Like an Elephant". Little did I know that Donkeys have even better memories! I have stood up again and again to request that personal name calling of Obama and Hillary Supporters stop. But it seems to fall on deaf ears. The justification to continue attacking other Democrats boils down to "The Hillary Supporters called us "misogynistic latte drinkers" back in March!" or "The Obama Supports called us "ill-informed racists" back in April!". That's 100% true, both sides have lobbed insults at the other. It needs to stop and it needs to stop now.

Here are my suggestions for all Hillary and Obama Supporters:
  • Quit holding a grudge for anything that was said before today. Just let it go ... you'll feel a lot better!
  • Don't bring up past insults in your posts. It just adds to the divisiveness already in place.
  • Don't use past insults as a justification to insult someone or a group.
  • If you start the sentence "(Some) Hillary/Obama supporters ..." then think long and hard about what follows next. Will it contribute to your point or will it just help you vent or hurt someone?
  • If someone on your thread does insult another candidate's supporter ... call them on it! You cannot allow your own friends to insult another supporter and then cry foul when you are insulted in turn.
Let's all move forward together on this as adults and Democrats. We really are all on the same team and most of us will come together behind a single nominee very soon. Let's not make it any harder than it already is.

The subscribe function is not working on threads so I am posting.

I agree with you. I think he is a lot of talk and quick combacks but not a lot of action. I have looked thru his legislative record and am not impressed. If Hillary loses the nomination, I am one who will move my vote to McCain and sadly, I think many others will be making the same choice.

I also am not satisfied with Hillary being #2 on the ticket. Most VPs are ever heard from and Hillary is the person with a plan for action. Next to her I think McCain is our best choice. Unlike others, I do not see him being another Bush - far from it.

I keep hoping that things will turn around and that the next few primaries will make enough of a difference so that the superdelegates will have to look at the electability issue.

I would just like to respectfully point out that many of the same folks who are saying he is "unelectable" also could not have imagined Obama doing so well in the primaries....

I do not believe he is unelectable...

I can understand if you all do not want to think about supporting obama just yet...or even admit to being able to support him...
but I hope for the sake of our country you will try and rethink your opinions of him with fresh ears and eyes....if he succeed and becomes the nominee....

I have some REAL GOOD NEWS!!!!!

The Summer AP Rates are out!!!!:thumbsup2

Sounds good to me. I was thinking about a joint ticket again on my way to work this morning while listening to the news, and I STILL love the idea.

Actually I just want to say I am NOT surprise he is doing well in the primaries. Truth be told though majority of the people sit out the primaries. It doesn't give the whole picture.
Most people who vote in the primaries are the followers of politics.
Sadly most of the general population doesn't really care until the general election.

I truly feel Obama is unelectable in the general election.

Gore or Kerry could not cross over some hard core red states what make you think Obama who is VERY liberal will be able to cross over those red states?
What states that Gore or Kerry didn't win do you honestly think Obama can win?
I am truly curious because I can not see how Obama can win the general election.
Plus don't show me polls, polls can easily be made to favor someone.
I want to know how you honestly think Obama can win some of those very important "purple" states that Gore and Kerry were not able to do.
Plus add the fact that like it or not you will have some Hillary supporters not voting for Obama

As much as I would like to say I will vote Democrat this year, I can't. No, time will not change that only an united ticket would change that.
I also want to add I respect people's choice in who they want to support. I just wish others would give me the same respect!

Besides Hillary is STILL in this thing! Every one is coming on here like she is done in. BOTH Hillary and Obama can not win this thing without the Supers.
It is not over until one of them steps down OR one of them reaches the magic number.
That is the FACT :)
