While I am an OS, I do not engage in slander of anyone for their choice. Heck, my parents are republican for cryin out loud. They voted for RON PAUL today.
But on the OS side, we have been called elitist, latte drinking (I hate coffee), kool aid drinking, blind, unrealistic and others by people on this board so HS are not the only ones being called names for supporting their candidate. Obama has also been called a "boy", the anitchrist and others. I will say that the hilldebeast name is vile and should never be used.
I am also a woman who has educated herself on the issues and the people running. I feel that Obama is the better candidate for a lot of reasons. I have also been made to feel a lot of things for chosing Obama - a traitor to my sex for not picking Hillary, a follower for falling for Obama's "pretty speeches", trying to make up for racism because I happen to be white and many others.
However, I do like coming over here to see what makes you guys support her. And as far as I am concerned as long as you vote based on issues and have learned what the candidates stand for, please vote. But if it is based on lies and who to have a beer with - stay home.
We all have been made to feel defensive of our choices and I can only hope that when this is all over the democrats can come together and kick the republicans out of office.
Thanks for letting me come by and say hi.![]()
How cool is that? I know she will be amazing.I'm on my way to pick up my daughter. In a few hours, my beautiful daughter will be dressed in a gorgeous formal gown, and she'll be standing on stage at the Meyerson, singing her heart out.
And the only thing I can think about is that I can't wait that long to find out if Hillary is winning or losing.
I'm so pathetic.![]()
Good luck everyone! I'll be with ya in spirit even if I'm not on line!
GO HILLARY!!!!![]()

I wish that I could explain myself that well.Last I heard, the OS wanted us to quit talking about Obama here on this thread. Didn't know you wanted us to spell it out. I'll have a go at it if you really want me to. And since these are my opinions, I want you to know I'm not stating facts. This is how my journey has gone these past few months.
I liked Obama in the beginning. I liked his message and his delivery. He's intelligent and articulate...things I look for in a candidate. He seemed to always stay calm, even under pressure and I liked that. My DS in college was working for him during the primary and obviously liked him.
But gradually, all of his speeches started to sound the same to me. And he seldom spoke about how he was going to do things. Yes, I know, it's all on his website. (I'm so tired of hearing that.) I went there and read all the hows and whys. But it was almost like he was more comfortable talking about change and we can do it and pumping his followers up. I grew tired of the same ol' thing.
Meanwhile, Hillary was talking about issues and how she'd go about making changes. I liked what I heard, so I started to lean in her direction. After all, her stands on issues are very close to his. I liked her take on the health care plan better than his. I liked what she had to say about making college more affordable. And I liked the fact that she has more experience. Yes, I know, Obama has experience too. But I think talking about her experiences and his are like comparing apples to oranges. I think she has more experience that will help her hit the ground running. My opinion, remember?
Then there were the debates. In debates, he didn't hold up as well as in his speeches. He often would say his take on an issue was pretty much like Hillary's answer. In the last debate, he didn't handle the questions well at all. I know, that's a hot button for some of the OS. They think the questions were not important issues. I think seeing how he did under pressure was even more interesting than his answers. He seemed uncomfortable and his feathers got ruffled. Then he refused to have any more debates. I've seen Hillary handle tough questions and she's not afraid to do it again. In fact, I think she thrives on debating. She seems to look like she's enjoying it most of the time. Whoever gets the Democratic nod better be ready to face tough questions from the Republicans. I think Hillary can and will.
Then there are several issues that have come up during the last few months. I think there may be skeletons in Obama's closet. I've heard some things that may not be true, but they make me nervous. Yes, Hillary has had her skeletons too. But most of them have seen the light of day...old news. Obama's are new. Fresh meat for the Republicans. That's not entirely his fault, but it's true.
Then there was Rev. Wright. Obama handled it, finally. Giving him the benefit of the doubt...if he really didn't know that Rev. Wright held those beliefs and if he doesn't agree, why didn't he quit that church immediately when this story broke? I believe he knew. Those clips I watched were not of a congregation shocked to hear what their minister was saying. They'd heard it before and they agreed with him. I know if my priest said those things it would spread through the congregation like wildfire. Everyone would know, even if they weren't in the pews that Sunday. I'm not racist. But I'm beginning to be offended that it's acceptable for a man to say the kinds of things he said, but if I said those things about African Americans I would be drawn and quartered. And yes, these were not things Obama said, but he did say some things that offended me. Things like "typical white woman". Put them together and it makes me nervous. I want a black president. I just want one that is going to pull us together more. I want unity, not more division.
I'm tired of the "I'm different. I'm not your usual politician." I see a very intelligent politician before me. I think he's just giving lip service to what he thinks his people want to hear. That's okay. Just don't tell me you're different if you're same ol' same ol'. (And he's using attack ads just as much as Hillary, from what I've seen, so he's not above that either.) Makes me nervous when he claims to be what my gut tells me he is not.
Finally, I don't think he can beat McCain. I think we need the best Democrat out there, that has the best chance of winning the election.
So, that pretty much explains where I'm coming from. You can say that I'm wrong....don't have my facts straight. But I've listened to both sides of each issue. I finally landed with both feet in Hillary's camp. This is where I intend to stay unless Obama gets the nod.
Why not have both?OK, I have to ask:
What's the deal with the 'who to have a beer with' thing? I noticed it the other day when I happened to peek onto the Obama thread to see what was going on. Everyone was all over about
'Hillary is the one to have a beer with but *I* (as in the OS) want an intelligent person in the White House- not someone to have a beer with. < - - Not a direct quote from anyone on the OS thread - I'm just paraphrasing a lot of different quotes on the OS thread.
Wasnt good ol boy George W the one to have the beer with? So, obviously, this have a beer with is yet another slam against Hillary but what started it?
(And since tone of voice can come across wrong in written text - no harshness in this post.. I'm just trying to understand what brought this all on)
Why not have both?
The inference seems to be that you either get an intelligent person or someone you want to have a beer with. I think that there are beer drinkers who are quite intelligent and teetotalers who don't have a bit of sense. But maybe I'm reading too much into this.![]()

They are calling NC for Obama with 20% reporting, but they have not yet called Indiana for Clinton with 63% reporting. Does anyone know why?

I don't understand.

I don't understand.
CBS called it - but the others are holding back - they must end up thinking it will be closer than it is now.
Bummer about NC - was hoping it would be closer.
Only 26% of NC votes in so far.
and all around the big cities...I wonder how she'll do in the country
Well, I'm going to bed in a few minutes. If they don't call Indiana soon, I'll find out tomorrow. I guess they are waiting for Gary.
