WOW 10 days...no have not heard that all morning and have the news on. Why 10 days :confused3 why not just a couple of days? I don't know why they just did not close the polls today in Ohio and wait till tomorrow due to safety reasons.

You will have both sides risking there lives for voting and that is terrible. Not sure how much that would help Hillary except that it gives her 10 more days to campaign there and so on. The vote in 10 days could go either way....but she has gained back some of her votes according to the polls but we all know how the polls are...
They're allowed to vote on provisional ballots at the county's board of elections. It's not the same as keeping a polling place open for an hour. I don't think it will hold up calling the state for a candidate or anything like that. It will make a difference in a few delegates at most, I'd guess.

Ouch...I know you are generalizing but I'm a Texas Democrat who just voted for Obama today and I'm getting my kids to do thier homework and I find time to volunteer. Last week at the Obama rally, my kids along with many others were doing their homework while waiting for the rally to begin.

Here's my bottom line: I support Obama but I want a Democrat to win come November so I will cast my ballot for her on Election Day if that is what it comes down to. However, this division that is forming in the Democratic party will make it tough to swallow. Instead of implying Hillary Democrats are harder workers than Obama Democrats, just admit Hillary's campaign didn't plan for something. We need to start working toward our unified goal... and not waste time tearing each other down.

I'm not tearing anyone down. I work with several self employed computer geeky people here in Austin. All of us (them & me) do homework with their kids. They are all voting for Obama & I support HC. We joke all the time....telling each other the caucus is in Dallas or Brownsville or whatever. We will ALL vote Democratic in Nov.

imo the more typical HC supporter is less likely to participate "on line". & after working all day is less likely to multi-task. The typical BO supporter is more likely to be online & more likely to multi-task.

Guys....we are similar in that we want to defeat Bush &/or his replacement. HC supporters by definition will not be as kumbaya (in nature) in attempting to defeat the Republicans. We will unite with Obama when (if) he wins. If the Republicans hit us (& they will), we will be prepared to hit them back.

Being the tough lady that HC is, i am convinced that if she wins 2 of the 4 states, she will go on. I support this & am confident that if HC concedes to BO in mid April it won't be any worse than conceding to him now. (& Giving BO a full 6 months prior to the election to wage a winning campaign.)

If BO supporters (or news dudes) want HC to concede when the score is 1200 to 1100 & it's only in the 3rd quarter, they're dreaming. I don't blame them for asking, but don't be disappointed when HC says No.

I stated i was generalizing.....sorry for that, but don't anyone get their dobbers down....we're gonna need to be focused in order to beat the "dark side" & their machine in the general election (no matter who wins the dems.)

hound - :hippie:
this is not just coming from Hound it has been said from the beginning of this election about how much harder it is for Hillary's and Edwards supporters to do caucuses due to the type of working class families and older folks like nursing homes or ones that don't drive and such.

During the caucuses young voters are able to get out and vote easier than the elderly and the folks home with there kids. So there for it gives Obama a better turn out. That's all. Nothing wrong or meant against Obama...
I live in Tarrant County which is notoriously Republican. The Democratic party precinct chairman for my precinct happens to be a 79 year old woman. I don't know who she is supporting for the primary but she contacted me (and many other people) to give rides to people who wanted to caucus but can't drive at night. I'm driving three old ladies to the caucus tonight and I don't know who they are supporting either. My husband is coming to the caucus in our other car with our three kids. My point is: all you are giving me is excuses for why Hillary might lose the caucus. We don't need excuses. We are all Democrats, we all lead busy lives, it is tough for everybody to get there.

I know I sound hostile but really, people, I'm tired. I've been one of a handful of Texas Democrats for the past eight years. I was verbally assaulted in SuperTarget in 2004 because I was wearing my John Kerry T- shirt. I want a Democrat in the White House!

I feel for you. It is hard to keep pressing on in Bush territory.

I want to thank you for taking the time to drive these ladies to vote though. I would thank you even if they were Republican. It is just the right thing to do. I for one am proud you are one of us (Democrats, not HC supporters necessarily).

Don't quit your day job, Travolta ;)

How come everyone tells me that when I sing????:confused3 Even on the internet!!!!!

Actually, why isn't Hillary's campaign organized enough to give people rides?
:confused3 Who says they aren't? I know where I live it's usua;;;y either the Democrat party or the Republican party that offers this service. I never heard of a specific candidate doing it!

You don't sound hostile your just trying voice your opinion

You need to remember that when you go to caucus you are not just taking 15 minutes to run to your polling place , vote and go home. You are at the caucus for anywhere between 4- 6 rs and they dint start till the evening.
Students can stay up late they may have school but what Collage student does not stay up late anyway. Also first come fisrt serve so that also gives an advatage to Obama because students and SAHM can get there early so if you have 50 Obama supporters tha can get there and stand in line for hrs and Hillarys that cant get there till later...it makes the caucus uneven.

Elderly go to bed very early and many don't like to go out at night. Parents with children that work find it hard to get away during the week even to go out for a cup of coffee never mind getting out for hrs and hrs to caucus.

Students, SAHM and people that own there own businesses find it easier to caucus.....It is just a fact....not one we here invented.....nothing wrong with that. But don't you find caucuses kinda silly :confused3 I always have!!!!

I am Got Disney and I approve this message :thumbsup2

Speaking of weather, any of you guys hear that they're extending voting in some precincts in eastern OH for 10 days because of the crummy weather? I would figure that that would have to benefit the Clinton campaign.

10 DAYS!!!!!! I dont think you heard that incorrectly. I heard that they are keeping the polls open until 10pm, due to weather problems.

That show I have always remembered it. That if you need a ride to the polls that meet at this so and so place or they will pick you up at your door if you are elderly or handicapped and cant get to your polling places. It was always the party...didnt matter who you were voting for in either.

But I must say that I cant remember if that was the same for the primaries or just the election itself....I cant recall any candidate doing it themselves.
I do now that they still do it even though they have mail in ballots for the general.

I could have swore it said 10 days on earlier today on CNN's political page, but now I can't seem to find it...

Found the link, but they've changed it. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.co...s-for-provisional-ballots-in-one-ohio-county/. They're now moving the polls instead of extending it 10 days. If you look in the comments section under the article, there are a number of comments saying "Oh no! 10 days?!?!" before they switched it.

I think there is a bunch of misinformation flying around because everyone has to be the first to break the story, facts be damned.

I'd guess the 10 days came about because they hold provisional ballots for 10 days to verify eligibility. I saw where it said 10 days online earlier too.

I think it was misinformation too! 10 days just sounds so bizarre!:headache:

No judgments or anything here, but are you also employed full-time? Because I think that is what the point was - that the Obama supporters have more time to be organized because so many (being students or SAHM or even upper management) are not held to a specific work schedule.

I have two jobs and three children, and am on the board of a non-profit group and yes, I have made time to volunteer for Obama.

Thanks. I didn't intend to toot my own horn but to illustrate a point about working together as Democrats.

And to "Got Disney": I don't know how caucuses work in your part of the country but in Texas, it should be over fairly quickly. You show up at 7 and the caucus will start promptly at 7:15 or if people are still lined up to vote it will start when the last person in line has voted. You sign in for your candidate and go through the minutes. I expect to be home by 8. Of course, the last two caucuses I went to in my precinct had 6 and 3 people!:rotfl:

AristoCath, I empathize as i lived in New Braunfels for 8 years (& in 2000 & 2004). A bastion of cunsavatives where they listen to both kinds of music....country AND western. Man do i want to elect a Dem pres...but also Noriega for Senate & somehow defeat my Congressman Lamar Bonehead Smith.

Don't worry...we'll all be together in June....holding hands & circling the maypole.

& fwiw, I understand that the caucus begins at 7:15 or AFTER THE LAST VOTER IN LINE AT 7PM HAS VOTED. In our precinct, there could be LONG lines at 7pm so the 7:15pm may or may NOT be the time we get started. I suspect I'll be one of very few there for HC.....Ms. Hound & neighbors & the rest of the double latte crowd (;)) will be caucusing for BO. :rolleyes1

I have two jobs and three children, and am on the board of a non-profit group and yes, I have made time to volunteer for Obama.

I surf the Dis so i only have time for one job & a coaching position for 9 y/o baseball players. ;)

Again, apologize for any stereotypes....here in Austin, all upwardly mobile starbucks type people (like my wife & everyone i work with) are supporting BO....I'm just poking fun. But since this is the HC thread, just remember.... "B*tch is the new Bl*ck". :thumbsup2

& since no one responded to my "nugget" of info way above. Hidalgo County is McAllen....in the valley & 80-90% Latino. HC & Bill spent some time down there & there are 2-3 million folks in the swath south texas.

Sounds like the Latino vote is going to be strong....& i suspect a repeat of California (in Texas). The caucuses have me worried though.

I just checked two websites before I posted this but once you sign in for your candidate tonight you are free to leave the caucus. You don't have to stay till the bitter end.

Okay I am nervous to hear what the results will be soon

OK.. media is predicting Obama got Vermont. Was he the favor for that state before today?

Who was it that posted Obama's Hollow "Judgment" and Empty Record above? (I don't have time to go back and look). That was a good, but scary, read. Scary because while this type of stuff about him may be buried at the moment - think about how this type of information (and anything else like it) that the Republicans dig up on him for the general election will show that he's really a very weak candidate. I was just on one of DawnCT's threads and she asked the question if Obama is an 'empty suit'? I never, ever, ever, ever agree with that woman but I'm worried that for once she's right and he really is.

Oh, and do you think that the media love-fest is really over for Obama?

OK.. off to vote in the caucus now.

So what is up with Texas??? They are saying that there were lots of Rep voting for Obama to keep Hillary out because they think that McCain will win to Obama but not so sure know about Hillary :confused3

Think the whole thing is crazy. We will find out at the end to see how many REP voted DEM. I hate sitting here watching this it is sooooo stressful. If she doen not pull this off she is in trouble.
