Hillary on GMA...

Oh, and 3) in reference to eclectics' comments...that is why it all comes down to getting out the vote. It's why a complete imbecile is sitting in the White House at this moment. The religious right believed - all evidence to the contrary - that Shrub would support their values through his policy, so they put together a massive get-out-the-vote operation. Even though the left was unified in it's disdain for Shrub, it just wasn't enough to combat that. (It's either that, or this country is in a lot worse trouble with it's education system than I thought.)

For the record...this is why I'm fairly confident of a Democratic victory in the 2008 election. Not one of the current Republican candidates can unite their party the way Shrub somehow did. About the only thing that could happen that COULD lead to a Republican victory in '08 would be if Hillary won the Democratic nomination. Their irrational hatred for her might just drive them out to the polls as nothing else could.

I wonder if this time around they will sit it out and concede, especially if a moderate Republican is given the nomination. If a true Conservative decides to run on a third party ticket, that will all but guarantee a Dem victory, even if it's Hillary.

Does the "perfect trustworthy" politician exist?? Has there ever been such a beast?? I think most everyone has already formed their opinion of Hilary and all the other candidates. I cant stand her...not because shes a woman, but because she basically is on the other side of everything i believe in. I cant see many people flocking to her in 08 if they arent with her now. Im not sure who i will vote for in 08, but i do know who i will not vote for. So all the mudslinging is pointless. Its a little sad that we have to settle for the lesser of 2 evils in most elections.

See, I just don't understand that. What has she ever done to make you think she is any less trustworthy than any other politician (admittedly a low bar to clear)? In fact, if you truly are a "left-leaning centrist", odds are her politics - and her record would back this up - are much closer to yours than they are mine, since I lean a bit further left. It's not that I think the only people that don't like her are righties...I'm not exactly a huge fan of hers, myself. But the completely unreasoning hatred that is spewed at the woman by the right tends to make me believe that's where the majority of it comes from, if not all.

Why is it that a poll that puts any democrat down is a joke, but a poll that puts Bush down must be considered law?? If you want to know how she would fare as president, just look at what Bill did.......that was a disasterous 8 years!!! She cant do any better. You say "we' are coming off a disasterous 8 years...who is "we"?? Did you have a bad 8 years? Sorry if you did.....i hope things get better for you, but i saw an incredible 8 years and was happy to be living through it. Let me ask you this....and be a sport and play along....if gore won in 2000 and kerry in 2004.....and the exact same things happend with this country, would you dislike kerry and gore as much as you dislike Bush?? Im surprised how many of my democrat friends up here in Mass said they would give them a pass if they did the same things. That speaks volumes!!!!!

1 - Half the respondants to the poll probably couldn't name a single one of Hillary's political opinions.

2 - We are coming off a disastrous 8 years where people selected a presidential candidate that they thought would be a good drinking buddy. Should we really give a rat's derrierre how well the candidates "connect with people on a personal level" ??? She's in the running to be the President of the United States, not the replacement for Oprah Freakin' Winfrey.

Sometimes, I think Bush is exactly the president we deserve. :sad2:

Or as Bruno said in that one episode of The West Wing "I'm sick to death of voting for the lesser of "who cares?"!"

Sorry, your post just made me think of that. And it's true, more often than not.

...and if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry christmas...thanks for the chuckle!!:thumbsup2

To be honest, what I want to bash is the same old candidates with the same tired old campaign--Democrate or Republican. I have been paying attention to the fresh faces: Obama and Gulliani. These two don't make me want to scream and shout for them, but I am so tired of the current politics, I am ready to listen to the new ones on the block.

I hear you on that. I really think we need to dump the old guard and have some fresh faces. I'm tired of the same jaded politicians playing the same game and reciting the same talking points.

Good points and well said! :thumbsup2

I would like to see an average person of average means who has held an actual job (not as a lawyer- no offense to lawyers) run for President. But, our system is such that only rich and/or famouns people can be the President. I don't have anything against rich people, but most of them have no idea what it means to be an average American. I choke whenever the John Edwards and the George Bushs' of the world talk about cutting taxes for the middle class or about affording this or that, blah, blah, blah, like they know what the hell it means.

Can I be reading this thread right?

Are Democrats & Republicans; Conservatives and Liberals, actually getting along on this thread? Posting in a civil manner? Actually agreeing in some cases?:scared1:

Could a trend be starting? Could this be the beginning of Americans coming back together? We can actually agree and disagree and still get along? :woohoo:

LET'S KEEP IT UP! :goodvibes

NNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

OK Yes. We are all tired of the same old same old.:hippie:

But if it was OK for Hillary to do, why isn't it OK for anyone else? She set the precedent for everyone else. Hey, the NJ Republican party was going to try and bring Rudy over to run against Corzine! Based on her background, she could have gone to Illinois, MA, CT or Arkansas-but the springboard to the Senate was better from NY. Now, she has done a very good job as NY's Senator-at least until she started campaigning, I don't know how much time she's spending on NY now.

I don't think it was ok for Ms. Clinton to do it. I don't think anyone who has lived for less than 2 or 3 years in an area can represent them in any level of government. That is why I don't vote for someone like that. Now if they are running for a statewide election and have lived in the state for 2 or 3 years, then they need to convence me to vote for them based on what their "planks" are.

For those who dislike Senator Clinton because you feel she's a carpetbagger, do you feel the same way about Mitt Romney?

Can someone explain this for me please!!?!?!?!?!

She's a Clinton. End of argument.

If anyone writes a High School Debate Team Manual, this could head up the chapter "Don't let this happen to you". :lmao:

You are right. The correct "High School Debate" response would have been: "Dude, she, Like, Sucks, youknow!" :rotfl2:
