Hijinks & Shenanigans but not much Mayhem@The Dark Side+Disney:Link to DL/Hawaii TR

OH looks dark and thundery in your pic! Me thinks you will be getting wet one way or another very soon!

That was definitely a scary looking sky!

:(

OK, I had to take a break just from reading that first comic. "R not D2". :lmao:

OK... I'm good.

And to tie in with the second comic "Yadda Yadda"... "They're Gold Jerry... GOLD!"

Uh oh... I hope the catastrophe is canyon. :scared:

So glad you enjoyed the comics. I am a bit of a "collector" *cough* hoarder *cough* so it is nice to have an outlet to share some of the cartoons I have saved.

I love a great Seinfeld reference. I'm picturing the comedian, but blanking on his name and it is driving me crazy! I am using a computer without a mouse because Ben has confiscated mine for homework, so it will take me a minute or two to Google it.

Nice catch on the catastrophe.

:)

Yup - looks like ran.

Glad the boys got to enjoy Star Tours for the first time! I love that ride and those Star War cartoons are very funny! :rotfl2:

I know that is a familiar sky to Florida veterans!

Nate and I had been on the rehabbed Star Tours, but it was the first time for Mark and Ben. This is one of Ben's favorites, so it was nice to get on it.

Glad you enjoyed the cartoons.

:goodvibes

Love the am not D2. :lmao:

It seems to be a winner!

:rotfl2:

It looked like the ToT hotel definitely needed some guests...that line was non-existent. I try to take photos when the doors open but I fail more times than not so I just try to strike a cutesy pose instead. Loved the 2009 photo!

From how the skies look you may have catastrophe canyon outside the Back Lot Tour.

Your comics are always a fantastic addition to your TRs. The R2 - Not D2 :rotfl2: Perfect! Love the droids line. I hear that often from my DH when he's telling me to go mind my own business in a funny way.

The only problem with not having a line is that you don't have enough time to enjoy the incredible theming and details. But I don't mind skipping the boiler room at all. I have been through that once or twice, and that is enough.

My family is not (or at least was not) big on ride poses, until we did the Photo Connect at Universal. It was fun when my family started to get into it. We haven't done any poses on ToT.

Thanks for the comment about the flashback photos. I'm glad I went back and posted them.

:goodvibes

We really like the new star tours!

It does look like rain, I hope it misses you.

I've been totally MIA. Need to get caught up. Again.
We're going to France in August with probably a 1 night stay at DL Paris! :cool1:

Hi Amanada!

Good to see you again!

Your trip to France sounds exciting, and I'm so glad you will be making a visit to Disneyland Paris. Can't wait to hear what it is like.

I need to catch up with you soon.

Oooh...goodie; I wasn't too far behind on at least one thread. ;)

Great cartoons.

I love Star Tours, but I have gotten sick the last couple of times on it. Not sick sick, but upset tummy once we got off. I may try some motion pills next time.

I love the pictures of the droids.

Oh dear...those skies don't look promising.

Alright, this one has nothing to do with the Backlot Tour, but it is Disney and it is Star Wars (which we just came from) and it is funny. And in a way, the Backlot Tour IS a trap.

We Deja-Queued
(got in line for the second time that afternoon)

This time, we made it into the Pearl Harbor show room.

And practically walked right through it.

Because of the lightning in the area, they had a VERY abbreviated show with no audience participation. That was a bummer because this is one of Ben’s favorite parts.

The next area was the prop room. Since I am the one responsible for props for our community theatre group, I was looking around jealously at the collection of things in the room.

Next- we boarded the tram for the tour.

The Hat Department

Continued in Next Post:

We arrived at Catastrophe Canyon:

PHEW!!! We got through that disaster and proceeded on the tour

This is as close as we got to Lights! Motor! Action! On this trip. And that is just fine with me!

And the tour was over!

It didn’t rain while we were on the tour, but it was HUMID! Even after riding around on the tram (which was hot), we were pretty beat down.

We spent a little bit of time looking at the supremely cool AFI exhibits. And apparently, I was so tired that I didn't take any pictures. Until.

Ben found the “Holy Grail”

It was Gimley’s Axe from Lord of the Rings, one of Ben’s current obsessions.

The momentary burst of energy was temporary, though. It was time for us to get out of there and head back to the Beach Club for a break before our big dinner plans.

I have been having trouble finding the time to work on my trip report, so this is usually one that it is easy to keep up with.

HOWEVER, you Ninja-posted while I putting up an update, so...

I do ok on Star Tours, but I don't think I could do it more than once in a short span.

My family does really well using Bonine. We don't need it for most things at Disney, but it is a lifesaver at Universal because there are a lot of simulator-type experiences.

You noticed that sky, huh? Must be around 3:00!!! :rotfl2:

Deja-Queued... NICE!!! :rotfl2:

Wow, this update makes me realize that it has been a really long time since I've done the Backlot. And Lights! Motor! Action! has been even longer. No wonder I never spend a full day at DHS. I am so ready for a DHS makeover I guess.

Nice pics Dee. Like you, I enjoy looking at the various props that are hung, strung and stuffed in every nook and cranny of the building. Good for Ben spotting the Holy Grail.

Yes you did, Dee. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Would you believe we have never gone to see Lights Motor Action. And I'm pretty sure we won't. Mark is one of the few men who isn't into car chases, shows, etc. (although he does watching that Counting Cars on television or whatever the heck it's called :sad2:).

You got some great pictures on the Backlot Tour. Bummer about the Pearl Harbor situation. But happy Ben got to see the Holy Grail. :goodvibes

On principle, unless you are actually going through places where things are or have been filmed, it is not technically a "Backlot" tour. It is just a tour through a collection of stuff.

Ben likes it. I'm not exactly sure why.

I don't think I have seen LMA since Lightning from Cars has been added to the show. If one can believe the rumors that I haven't actually read, then both of these attractions will be lost to Cars Land East.

:scratchin

Thank you!

The props are neat and gives you something to look at in line.

Ben was so excited. He called me over and said "Take a picture!" so he could show his friends.

:goodvibes:

Sorry about that! :lmao:

I have seen LMA a couple of times. Pretty long show, and since our trips are always in the summer, it is REALLY hot in those bleachers!

I don't know what Counting Cars is.

Ben (and Nate, too) are really into military history, and the Pearl Harbor part of the Back Lot tour is Ben's favorite part.

I would say "There's always next time" but I'm not sure that is true. Next time for us is probably June 2015 with Ben's class trip, and we definitely won't have time for the Back Lot Tour then, if it is even still around.

:sad2:

Nice tour :thumbsup2 Last time we did it we found someone's room key with their ticket and charging privileges :scared1: Boy were they glad to get them back-the relief on the guys face when he picked them up as we got off the tram! :)

We did LMA once and ITA -HOT HOT HOT in those bleachers!
Once was enough for us as we thought it went on a bit ;)

Wow! That was a good find and very kind of you to return it the guy who lost all that!

You know, I think we saw the abbreviated version of LMA because there was lightning in the area, and it was still too long!

:lmao:

I have never done bl. If your right I guess I lost my chance. This will be the second thing tonight I have read that I will never get to do. Oh well still a lot to still do plus new stuff will be added. Your pics do make me wish I would have taken time to have seen it last visit. Oh well win some and loose some. I agree that sky doesn't look good. Hope once you get back it rains a bit to cool things off. Loving your updates as always.

We haven't done backlot tour in many years. maybe we should give it a try in March since rumor is it will be going.
Last time I rode it was it was disastrous! Literally as the canyon broke down and they had to route us backstage.

Honestly, you haven't missed much. I don't consider it a true back lot tour since you don't go through any soundstages or sets where actual filming has or is taking place. The tram takes you through a bunch of props/vehicles from movies set out, but you don't get much information about where they are from.

The Pearl Harbor special effects show is good, and Catastrophe Canyon is a fun disaster outing, but 3/4 of my family would say that the back lot tour is really not worth the time and effort.

;)

Deja-queued! I think you just invented a new word. Love it!

I love the prop room and the hat room! Catastrophe Canyon is pretty cool. It's really amazing that they can pump that much water out and then recycle it all!

Fun pictures!

Poor Ben - missing his fav part of the attraction. Boo!
