Hi gang. It's been a while. Haven't been on the boards for ages, major housing issues due to storms at Xmas, meaning still not back in our home and all holiday plans for 2012 out the window !

Anyhow, to make me happy, I am thinking of a trip during school holidays 2013which happen to fall around end of March.

Concerned that this period is possibly during Spring Break in the USA so wondering if anyone else is thinking of going during this time?

We usually travel either April/May or Sept/Oct, this will be the earliest we have ever been and we have to include school holidays for part of the trip as DW is a teacher.

Hi Marvel. We are thinking of travelling at a similar time. Still trying to talk DH into it though! We are thinking of mid April though to try and miss spring break. As Easter is late March I am figuring the weeks up until Easter and the couple weeks after are going to be pretty busy. In SA our school holidays start 12th April so we may travel then.

Sorry to hear about your home. Hope it gets sorted out for you soon. Trip planning gives you something to look forward to.

It is so hard to find info on who has holidays when in the USA. We would love to go a bit later april.

On our FB disney group we have a USA travel agent with 3 young girls, plus a woman that worked at disney for 8 years and lives in LA. I have stacks of USA friends i have joined in the group that can help you with questions. Its a great back up group from the aussie DIS group.:surfweb:

Welcome back Marvel. Sorry to hear about the house and I hope you get back in soon.

Yes, information about which state is on holiday when is sadly lacking on the internet. I've even asked a couple of Dis-sers that are teachers and they just tell me that it really depends on the state and on the school.

Good luck with your planning!

Thanks princess, may have to ask on the other forums I suppose, but thought some Aussiee disses must be planning for this same period.

Hey Tara, what's the Facebook group sounds like a great one to be in.

We are planning a trip in May 2013 to WDW but have been to DL smack bang in the middle to Spring Break, in Easter.

Spring Break is staggered across the US and different schools take it at different times, so just figure on running into SOME school kids anytime between mid-March and mid-April.

FWIW, DL was busy but we found it was manageable with a little planning, - which is what all DIS-ers are so good at!

Welcome back Marvel, great to see you here planning another trip, sorry to hear about your home though :sad2:

Can't wait to read your plans :)

Thanks saskiwi, we will have to decide what to do since we love going in may but have to include school holidays so that makes it tricky.
Not even sure if early April is warm enough for us.

Hi becpee, good to hear from you. I am hoping to start some planning, have had such a trying year that I hardly have been on dis at all.
We could use a couple of weeks next year just hanging out in Anaheim, but I have always wanted to do Yellowstone so I am all over the place!

We are doing WDW from 1st March to 14th March. First week will be very low crowds and then the next week starts to build, Following week they say is pretty busy. I looked at some you tube videos of WDW spring break and to be honest it didnt look that much busier than when we last went in Early Nov. WDW always has lots of crowds I suppose you just have to navigate the busy parks and the not so busy parks at certain times. Thats why we are going for 12 full days, it gives us plenty of time to see it all.

We are then off to Disneyland for 3 days plus San Diego. So its a big Disney trip for us, Also couple nights in Vegas.

You go when you can and deal with the parks at the time I say. Just wound not go in the Monster Peak times if possible.

Hi Marvel,

We are heading off on 27th March to New York for 9 nights, then travelling to WDW from 5th April for 10 nights. Looking at the costs of on site accommodation, the Easter period ends on 7th April when regular season costs kick in. It still looks like an expensive time to travel but it was the only time we had available. I've also looked at crowd calendars for April and the crowd predictions ease off later in the month.

I hope this helps

Steph

Sounds like you have some good plans. We end up in Disneyland starting April 20 for 12 days, so we should miss all the Spring Break crowds.

We are heading off to UK and France on 24 March for 4 weeks. Only 2 nights at Disneyland Paris but it's right at the end so works out to be 3 whole days. I wish it was more but that will have to do. I'm only spending one more day than this in Scotland so really if I think I can get a taste for a whole country in 4 nights, surely I can get a feel for DLP in that amount of time :rotfl2:.
