***Hey, Hey! Come right in and plan, OFFICIAL OCTOBER 2017 thread!!!***

Need some good vibes today. I tripped over and stepped on my poor kitty cat this morning. I am a blubbering mess and I feel horrible. We are at the vet waiting for X-rays( and my cat hates the vet) praying for no broken bones. I also landed on my hip and am very sore. Just not been a good morning so far.

Oh no! I hope you and kitty are just fine and feel better very quickly.

I don't think I've ever visited Disney Springs in the fall - do they decorate for Halloween or the season at all?

No broken bones, but he will be sore and bruised. He is 12 yr. old and may have kidney problems. I feel like a bad mommy, but I'm glad nothing was broken. I'll be loving on him today- he's groggy from being sedated.
I'm glad to hear that, I hope you both rest up and feel better soon.

I must be certifiable. I got a new job (yay!) that requires us to relocate to another state. We're going to be moving as soon as we can sell our house which will require my kids to start a new school midyear (they're in first grade). We have had this trip planned for two years and it is all paid for and involves travel with a large group of extended family to celebrate my 40th birthday. My new boss is being very flexible about it but I worry that it will be too much - especially for the kids. Also, we have flights booked from the current city which may not work. I don't even know what address to which to ship the magic bands. This is a mess. Does anyone know how easy it is to move a Southwest flight from one city to another? Also, how long does it take magic bands to actually arrive once the date for customizing them has passed? Am I crazy for doing this? I really, really don't want to cancel this trip. Has anyone else moved in the midst of Disney planning madness?

If Irma is to be as devastating as forecast for Southern Florida - do you feel guilty still planning to go in October? :( I do.

Hopefully some kind of miracle happens.

Not crazy at all. If your new boss is being flexible, I say go for it! I have found that MagicBands take about 7-10 days from the customization deadline to arrive. They ship with a shipping partner that thens transfers them to USPS. Not the fastest by any stretch.

As for SW, it is probably one of the easiest things you will ever have to do. If you're changing all the tickets on your itinerary to the same flight, you can do it all online. SW will transfer all of the travel funds from the one ticket to the new ticket. It will also keep the same confirmation number. No fee for changing, even if its an hour before the flight takes off! If the new ticket is more, you will pay the difference. If not, you will have a SW credit in a travel fund associated with your confirmation number that can be used up to one year from the ORIGINAL booking date for your first ticket. If your whole family is booked under the same itinerary, you will have to call SW to have them separate the tickets that need to be modified to another confirmation number, and then the associate will also change your flight. The wait times are extremely long right now between Harvey and Irma (I just did this for my trip since my sister is leaving earlier now), but SW also has a wonderful feature that will call you back and keep your place in line with an ETA of the wait! I LOVE SW!!

Florida will need the continued funding from tourism. I am happy to contribute.
I agree 100%! I hope there is minimal impact on Florida and it just goes out to sea. I went after Matthew last year and that was only the 4th time Disney had ever officially closed. I hope my money can help!

Any hope they extend animal kingdom hours for the first week of October?

Well they already did-thats what opened up FOP FP's for me awhile back it used be closing at 7 and now its 8. So maybe not that late but better than it was.

I feel a tad guilty celebrating 50 days today. But we are. My kids are too excited not to do so.

We started our paper chain today, and ceremoniously wrote "50!" on our dry-erase board. I bought YDS a "Hidden Mickeys" book. I've never been particularly interested in these (beyond the occasional "Oh, look!") but he read about them in the Birnbaum book and is now obsessed. I think he just likes knowing something's there that no one else does. :)

My kids LOVE searching for hidden Mickey's! They look for them everywhere (not just in WDW!!!)
