Today I won on priceline with a GREAT price with Hertz. :woohoo: I have never rented with Hertz, always have used Alamo or National.

How is Hertz different?
Anything special I should know or be prepared for?
I know with Hertz you don't pick your car, it is selected for you. How will I know which car is ours?
What types of car can I expect for Intermediate/Mid-size?
Does Hertz have a kiosk?
Do I have to go through the rental counter?

If it matters I enrolled in the Hertz #1 Club Gold with the free promo code from Mousesavers

If you are renting for the first time you will have to stop at the counter and sign papers. When you get to the counter they will tell you what stall your car is in.

What bid was accepted? I have been trying for September, up to $18. for a mid-size but no luck yet. I do have a backup with Hertz.

I bid $10 per day so with taxes and fees it came up to $129.xx from 06/02 - 06/09. I was just 11 days out and I think that the closer you are to your travel dates the better the chances are a low bid will be accepted. The total prices was over $100 less the best price I could find using all types of codes and coupons.

Hope this helps.

Wow! Congrats.

I've been trying since yesterday for 7.18 to 7.27 and I bidded up to $18 a day and got rejected two days in a row.

I posted looking for help here and diodn't get any replies. Did you try every day?

About 3 months ago I started out by using every coupon/code combination I could find and made my resi with the best price I could find. Then about 2 weeks out I start checking Hotwire and Priceline daily to see if I can beat my best rate. For my dates Hotwire showed a price of $15.95 per day for the car class I wanted so I started bidding low just to see if my bid would be accepted.

I have worked my rental car this way for the past 7-8 trips. 90% of the time I get a better rate this way, but on the 10% of the time it has not worked I know I had the best price out there by using codes and coupons. I also do must of my hotels this way (except for WDW) too. I have the best luck with Priceline no more than 2 weeks out.

Just a quick tip -- don't cancel your best code/coupon resi until you have your confirmation from Priceline/Hotwire. This way you still have a good deal on your car if the Priceline/Hotwire route does not work out for you.

I hope this helps. :thumbsup2

It does, very much.

Where can I find codes and coupons just in case priceline/hotwire don't work out?

I use DIS, mousesavers.com, carrentalsavers.com, & carrentalmomma.com the most. I also do a google search for discount codes/coupons. If you are going to rent with a Visa card, google search for "visa car rental coupons" for good discounts and coupons.

Happy searching.

Will joining Hertz #1 Club Gold make my rental any easier?

Hertz website states that if you have AAA you get a 2nd driver free. Can I do this with my Priceline resi?

No. You can't use Hertz Gold with a Priceline reservation. Can't use AAA since it a Priceline reservation.

Is hertz located in the airport at MCO or is it off site?
