Here's one for you (and remember, I'm a rookie): What exactly is Disney Magic??

I just wanted to say thank you for all the wonderful responses to this thread, it has made me smile during a time when I don't feel much like smiling. Earlier this month I was taken to the hospital with chest pains because of a previously undiagnosed heart condition. While I was in the hospital, the IRS showed up at our business and seized all the assets! My FIL is the president of the corp and the problem is with unfiled personal returns and unclaimed income on his part. Needless to say, the process of getting back in has been stressful, my family and all the wonderful people on the DIS have helped me through it. If I need to escape for a while, I come here.
You Cindy fans will appreciate this one, my 90 day out reservation
window came and went while I was in the hospital and I missed my chance.:( I am still trying, though, I call every morning.
Thanks again!

Oh goodferry, hope things are much better with your health and your business! At least you can look forward to your WDW visit!

Just wanted to wish you all the best and I hope you get that Cindy reservation! Hopefully something should open up! Keep calling in everyday! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Keep thinking about that Disney magic; it can't help but be good for you!

Disney Magic is what you make it!

It is skipping to the attractions and walking hand in hand with grown children.

It is the little details that Disney does. Like having a CM hand you his private cell phone to tell you that you have a call and have Goofy answer and sing you happy birthday! It is a happy feeling you get as you hug said CM and crying happy tears on his shoulder! Thank you PHIL at the EPCOT main gate!!!!!!

It is having a rhino encounter on safari!

It is riding up front on the monorail.

It is having every bus driver greet you with a smile and answer all your questions.

It is having a CM link elbows with you to help your tired body catch up to your child.

It is meeting a CM who knows the streets in your neighborhood at home! Yes it is a small world!

It is having wash cloth animals waiting by your sink when you return from a long day. And having your children's stuffed animals placed in assorted crazy places, like hanging from a hommock made out of the room curtains!

It is having mousekeeping check on you because you slept through the wake up call. The just wanted to make sure we were alright! ::yes::

It is having the CM in Tower or Terror tap you on the shoulder when the lights go out! YES I screamed!

It is finding hidden Mickeys all over the park!

It is finding a way to return the kindness that others share with you! We helped a family with 6 children under the age of five get on and off Small World! Can you imagine taking a 4 year old, a 3 year old, 2 year old triplets and an under one baby to Disney with just the two parents? We watched a family do it and laugh and smile and have a great time! It was a WOW experience!

It is having this board and all the great people on it help you plan your trip and share their great experiences! The things we learned on this board helped to make this past trip one of the best ever! :wave2: ::yes:: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Make sure you buy a guide (I liked the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disneyworld)and read it before you go. The most important thing is to get there EARLY!!! Hit all the major rides in the morning and then just relax and take it as it comes . Make sure you stay late and see the fireworks and parades. Watch the Spectromagic parade and you will know what Disney magic feels like. Another thing: I hate crowds and lines, BUT I have to say, when you are at Disney, most people are happy even when they are in lines. As a child I remember meeting many people by talking to them during the waits in line, and everyone seemed happy and friendly. It is a feeling I do not have anywhere else in the world. Most people leave their grumpiness at home; I know I do! So don't worry about the crowds; you'll have a ball no matter what!

For me, it is the feeling of immersion. Once you cross those gates you are really in Walt Disney WORLD. You leave behind very element of the real world and enter the fantasy. The street signs are even part of the magic!

DH and I sat at the California Grill and looked out and realized that I couldn't see anything but Disney. We truly felt like we were in another world.

When I stayed offsite in 1997, every night when we left for our hotel we felt like we were "leaving." When I stayed onsite in 2002 I never had that feeling until our towncar picked us up 7 days later!

:grouphug: A BIG part of the MAGIC...is "knowing" you all feel the SAME way I do about Disney, and actually get "IT." :goodvibes: I have read, and re-read all these posts...and now am "printing" them. Your words reflect the simple fact we all SHARE the same concepts of DISNEY MAGIC. THANKS...so very much...to all of you, for making the MAGIC (in the connections & bonds we share) in the LOVE of all things DISNEY.

Hi ALL!
Disney Magic is when 10 and 12 year old boys, who play game boy video games all other times of the year, go through Imagination with Figment and end up buying a Figment soveneir plus sing the different songs that were presented at the attraction all the way home and days afterwards.
Imaaginaation, Imaaginaation ........!

"THE MAGIC HAPPENS!!!"
:jester: :jester: :jester:

It's the tears comming down your new wife's face on your honeymoon during the spetromagic parade and she looks at you and tells you how great this honeymoon is.

It's DD face at 4 years old when she wakes you up and says get up daddy we have to have breakfast with piglet.

It's looking down main street and realizing that it all started with one man's dream.

;)

OKAY THATS IT!!!!

Im practically in tears over here reading this thread!! It is so beautiful and heart warming to read what the magic is to them I was just getting shivers reading everyones posts!
To me Disney Magic is everything everyone has already listed but the biggest part of it to me isnt something that can be described or explained...just felt.

WOW, everyone is doing such a great job. I am pleased to add what Disney Magic means to me. It is the 'take your breath away' excitement when you enter Main Street holding your husband's hand and see the castle. It's losing every single time playing Buzz Lightyear but running back to do it again. It's seeing the smiles on children's faces when they see their favorite character and the character gives them a hug. It is the smiles on CMs' faces when they go out of their way to make sure that you are having a magical timel It is waking up and walking to your balcony and seeing a giraffe munching his breakfast. It the breathless feeling when you watch Illuminations from the Breathless. It's the excitement of Fanstasm. It is DISNEY. It is one of the few times that the outside world ceases to exist and you leave your day to day worries outside the gates. Thank you Walt for starting it all!!!!! PS: wdwrookie - Are you planning on learning about the magic first hand soon?

What a great thread!

Disney Magic, for me, is:

Coming home from WDW for the first time (in 1983) and not knowing why I was hooked.

2002: My little grandson's first trip to Disney. :earboy2:
We hop the monorail to MK. We enter the magical storybookland of Main Street just as the Share A Dream Come True Parade starts. My grandson is looking up in wonder as the first float goes by and he knows he is someplace very special. He looks up at me, on the verge of emotional tears and all he is able to say is, "I like Disney World." That made the whole trip worth while.

Can't wait to go back and feel the magic,

Tink

To me the Disney Magic is watching my 42 year old brut of a husband enthusiastically wave and smile at people as we are riding on a float in The Share a Dream Come True Parade. I am so glad that I video taped our experiences as Grand Marshals. It is priceless. We get goosebumps every time we watch it.

Lori

Disney Magic is utter bliss.
It is the feeling of knowing you are creating a memory. You are giving your children a gift they will cherish throughout thier lives. Something they will always remember. Something they will want to always return to, and someday share with thier own children.

I just replied to a similar thread on another baord...but here it is again

it is the sound of your child shreiking 'Mommy, we're really here, we're at Disney World' as you walk under the train trestle at MK.

it is seeing the look on his face when he got to meet Mickey

it was the CM that gave my crying son a pin just to try and cheer him up

it was the manager at Boatwrights making an order of rice for my sick child when the restaraunt was closed

it was coming back to our room to find all of Sam's Mickeys watching Toon Disney. Sam was (and still is) convinced Tinker Bell stopped by and did a little magic

it was the CM that let my son wake up Tinker Bell in her store at MK one morning

it is the Tweedles playing with your child for a full 5 minutes and taking him by the hand and dancing with him

it is watching Pluto get down on all fours and play fetch in the lobby at Ohana

it is the picture of your child nose to nose with Pluto

it is seeing your normally reserved DH smile and laugh like a child when Chip surprisingly taps him on the shoulder during breakfast

it was sitting on a bench at POR at 5:00 AM watching the sun come up as the water animals played and the resort came to life

on a broader scale, it is the theming, the attention to detail, the happy (even if faking it) CM's, the sounds and smells in every area and the feeling that you are truly in another world for a short time.

Wow, great question. It's all of what everyone else has said. It's the feeling that you've entered someplace special and have left the rat race behind. It's the wonder on your children's faces, and the tears that run down your own as you watch *them* in wonder. It's the lighthearted feeling that makes you want to dance down Main Street USA knowing that no one will wonder what is "wrong" with you--they'll likely be feeling that same urge!

It's the attention to detail. It's the willingness that CM's have to extend themselves above and beyond in order to make someone's day. It's the feeling that I get everytime I go and am amazed at what Disney has accomplished. It's not a place where Imagineers say, "No, we can't do that." It's a place where they say, "Let's do what hasn't yet been done!" It's the total immersion in "the show" that begins as soon as you enter the property. It's the magic that makes you want to plan your next trip as soon as you arrive home from the present one.

It's going back for the 1st time 20yrs later and it still being as magical as the 1st time.

It's taking my DS (10) to WDW for the 1st time and seeing his eyes light up as everything becomes real.

It's watching my DM see Disney through my DS's eyes and loving every single minute of it.

1.Watching my DS run up to Tigger for the first time and hug him like an old friend. :lovestruc

2. Sitting in a lounge chair at Typhoon Lagoon with a cocktail, someone asks you what day it is and your reply is Day 4 cos you honestly have no clue what day of the week it is or the date.

And I am off to get me some! ::yes::

:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Disney Magic to me:

1. Watching the share a dream parade and cry as the floats go by and the music plays.

2. Trying a new hotel each time we go, to see WDW in a new way every time.

3. Riding on the monorail and hearing the recording giving the announcements in english and then in spanish
