Buses have been plentiful but so have ecv's. 1-2 on 7 straight rides. We are just allowing more time. What's frustrating is watching peeps struggle with loading them. Peeps don't want help or bus drivers lack of skill to help.

Also had 1 bus driver a few times that is very slow and miserable .

:cheer2:

Probably because people complained it took too long to board the bus :rotfl2:

As far as people saying you can't "segregate" the people with ECVs by providing them with their own bus, then explain to me why they get segregated parking (designated by a handicap sign), a special entrance to rides (um isn't that segregating them as well). People are not saying do NOT provide them with transport, just provide them with the services they need while others are not "inconvenienced". In schools, kids who qualify based on disabilities get IEPs, but people who do NOT have disabilities do not qualify for one on one help/aids. There is a point where abled body people feel just as discriminated against simply because they do not qualify. I'm sure I will get flamed for these comments, but oh well, some of us are sick of hearing "treat everyone the same no matter what a person is able to do". Fine then all the ECV people can fend for themselves in a parking lot with NO handicap designated parking if they don't want to be "singled" out!

the word was inferred from what posters who are in ECVs mentioned how they felt when people watch THEM board the busses....they were defining the word stigma without actually writing the word.

stig·ma   [stig-muh] Show IPA
noun, plural stig·ma·ta  [stig-muh-tuh, stig-mah-tuh, -mat-uh] Show IPA, stig·mas.
1.
a mark of disgrace or infamy; a stain or reproach, as on one's reputation.
2.
Medicine/Medical .
a.
a mental or physical mark that is characteristic of a defect or disease

they don't want to be looked at as an inconvenience to other riders due to their abilities, but they will gladly park close to entrances due to their abilities....in other words, convenience to them when it is convenient is OK, but not OK for to people with lack of a disability to want conveniences, too? If you want to be treated like "everyone" then do away with handicap parking for a start and travel from a distance just like everyone else in a parking lot! Again, I don't care about their loading on the busses, I don't have a problem with it. I was just trying to show the other side to "we want equal rights to the busses, rides, etc"...basically if ONE group of people get SPECIAL treatments (a separate entrance, separate bus, a separate section of parking) then EVERYONE abled or disabled should get the SAME special treatments! Providing ANY group of people DIFFERENT considerations is SEGREGATING....something someone on here said was illegal!

thank you, have a nice day because AGAIN I can careless what you think of me. I will state again, I can care LESS how long it takes for someone on an ECV to load on a bus! What I have an issue with is people like you obviously, who believe a certain class of person deserves DIFFERENT perks but those perks are not EQUAL amongst all persons! You my friend are the one without class believing not ALL people are created equal REGARDLESS of a disability or not my friend!

Okay...I have pulled these few posts. You are somewhat argumentatively posting your beliefs. You do realize that this isn't a Disney thing, right??? It's the law!!! And if people choose to work the law to their perceived advantage, well, I guess they are going to have to answer to some higher authority!!! But, you are the person calling people classless because they know the rules and the law, and adhere to them.

Handicapped parking is provided to move those with issues out of the mainstream..it is safer for everyone. The law requires this...there is an equation that tells you how many handicap spots you need based on the capacity of the parking lot. And in order to get this handicap placard, you have to prove you need it.
So, that brings us to ECVs and buses. Should they make guests prove they need an ECV? Sure, that would be nice, but it's against the law. Using a handicap parking spot is different than using an ECV. Riding that ECV doesn't get you anything special...it really doesn't. It does mean that you get to be walked in front of, you can't move nearly as quickly as those on foot. You have to look for breaks in the sidewalk so you can get up on it when on the street. You get jammed in when crowds are exiting the parks. Sure, it probably looks like great fun when we see seemingly able bodied people riding them. I watched a couple on two ECVs at S/D...they rode off the boat, and then started racing off, to get to the hotel!! Really...racing. They didn't much care who was in there way, even the little girl who walked out from behind a pole!!! That was a little scary!!!
There are going to be those that will abuse every single perk they can get...that's just human nature. We are not perfect. We can only do what we think is right!!!

There don't need to be specific buses for those using wheelchairs or ECVs. But there does need to be a little bit of empathy. I completely realize that there are some on ECVs that don't need to be. I also realize that they bring along their entire family....not crazy about that either. But, in all reality??? I can't waste my time, at WDW, worrying about what those idiots are doing. Believe me...karma is a wonderful thing. What goes around, usually comes right back around. I won't always see it when it does, but I know it will happen. So, just smile pleasantly, and go about your fun at WDW.

Oh...and everyone really needs to take a chill pill here. People are starting to get really out of control...and no, I am not talking about 'one' person....it's the whole group. Sheesh...lighten up cha-cha!!!

Wow! That is a wonderful view. I'm glad the trip is going well. I'll have to check out your trip report. Enjoy the rest of your trip! :goodvibes

The last tidbit just was a gallon of gas on a dying fire....

But honestly in response to the meat of that ot would just be courteousy to fold it up before hand or whatever. If you don't you don't but it would be kind of nice yet it wont (or shouldn't) ruin ones trip

Must say I am jealous but not as much as when I thought for a moment that your trip continued to real Fiji, my all times dream!:)

Why would someone intentionally be so rude to others as to not give a crap about anyone other than themselves and their family? I can't imagine being that rude. Maybe the kid behind you is tired and wants to get to their hotel just as much as you want your little angel to wake up gently.

That is the beauty of quoting, once it quoted, delete it or not it is there. Better not to post rudeness in a first place, just a lesson to learn.

I'm inclined to agree. We'd step around.

::yes:: I understand not wanting to wake your child but if you do have massive amounts of stuff and haven't even made an effort by the time you see or hear the bus I'm going to go around you.

Oh, I totally get that I should have bags packed, and be ready to roll - thats why I said, as soon as the bus shows I'll wake my girl(s) - I'm not just standing around blocking the bus and making you all wait while I put the crackers away.

I'm just saying, I'm not giving you my seat because it takes me a couple of minutes longer to get the girls out of the stroller, and get it folded up, and load everyone onto the bus. I don't think that is intentionally being rude to people behind me. I just think all the stroller-haters sound silly. Its Disney World.

I'm never intentionally rude to any one (well, almost - unless provoked). I don't go out of my way to make anyone's lives more painful. That said, my kids and their comfort come first. My family comes first. If that makes me selfish, or "entitled" or whatever, so be it. If my kid is sleeping in a stroller, I'm waiting to get them out of the stroller until that bus shows up. And I'm not stepping out of line so you can pass by me and take my spot when I was there first. I'm gonna gently wake my kid, fold my absolutely enormous behemoth of the double stroller, and unload the giant piles of stuff I bring to the park, and if it takes 5 minutes, you can wait. Won't kill you. Its 5 damn d@mn minutes. And if there happens to be three of us self righteous, entitled, selfish parents in the line, then its 15 minutes. Bummer....for all of us. Just how it is.
Part of being a good parent is making sure your child gets the rest they need. But having manners and showing consideration for others makes a great parent.

How is that different from the people who are behind her getting annoyed? They are getting on the bus in the same order, the bus is not leaving without them, but dammit, the inconvenience of the minute or 5 minutes they are being held up outweighs the benefit of the child sleeping while waiting for the bus, or the child being contained in a stroller in an area crowded with bus traffic.

I can't imagine being so rude as to get annoyed with a parent who held me up for a minute or two, but it happens. And the more it happens to that parent, the more the parent feels backed into a corner of either bend over backwards for the rest of the world at my family's expense, or focus on my family and stop worrying about what other people think.

I used to bend over backwards for everyone else. But frankly, it's the judgment and the complaining from others about the way my kids affect them that has caused me to make other choices. I waited until the bus pulled up to take my kid out of the stroller because I did not want to subject other people in line to her playing with the ropes and wandering around the line. That's not good enough. So I'm told that if I keep her in the stroller, but step aside to let everyone else past and get on the bus last. So that leaves my family with standing room only, causing my kid to step on people's toes and fall onto them. So that's clearly not good enough either. So what does that leave? Not using the buses? Finding ways to change my kids' underlying personalities? That's certainly not happening.

When it reaches a point when the only solution that does not garner criticism and complaint puts me in a position of feeling as though my family should behave like second-class citizens, find ways to navigate the world that do not put us into contact with others, then I start thinking, "I'm done worrying about what others think. I'm just going to look out for my family."

IRL, I still bend over backwards for other people. But I would be lying if I said I never felt what the PP said.

I guess I misread. As long as you're moving stuff by the time the bus is in sight we're good. I have no problem with that! :goodvibes It's the people with a giant stroller and mountains of stuff that just stand around until the line is moving that I have a problem with!:crazy2: I don't hate strollers, I've become very good at bobbing and weaving!
