Here now, OMG buses.

I stopped taking the buses specifically due to stroller issues and I was the one with the stroller.

Sorry but I find vacationers to disneyworld are down right rude bordering nasty if the nanosecond the tram pulls up you don't have your stroller folded and child ready to hop on.
Dh and another guest darn near came to blows because she said some thing nasty about not waking my son up and taking him out of the stroller before the bus pulled up at WL. after that I said "never" again. of course my kids no longer use strollers.

I did a trip report and 95% of dissers said it was my fault I should have had the kid out of the stroller instead of making everyone wait.

So sorry we are not the supposedly patient happy guest that we portray ourselves to be here on the boards. Don't even get me started on the rude comments I've heard directed at moms who dare have those "double" strollers.

Unfortunately there isn't any thing disney can do about that. IMO the problem is really we are a more rude, selfish society.

Generally we stay at the deluxes close to Epcot since that is our favorite park so I don't have to worry about slow buses. But I figure since disney themselves advises folks to allocate an hour to get where you are going (which is ludicrous imo) I always figured they were not meant for speed.

What if DH wants to ride a ride and I want to walk across the park to get fast passes? It means we would never be able to split up.

Yes we did go in the no bag entrance because we don't bring bags, we use the stroller as a bag. They just look under the stroller and wave us along.

My stroller is no more a nuisance than your wheelchair. And no more annoying than a bus full of scooters that take up 3 seats a piece.

But your attitude throughout this entire thread may just be. Plus I have been to Disney many times and I have never seen more than 1 scooter or open wheelchair on a bus at a time but I have seen many families try to board the bus with an open stroller or wait until they hit the door to take their snowflake out of the stroller and board causing the line to back up.

:confused3
In what way does suggesting alternative methods for transporting jackets (in preparation for future years) translate to a need to find alternate vacation destinations or indicate argumentativeness?

LOL. It's the golden rule Kaytieeldr, if you do not think the mouse world is absolutely perfect, if you dare to say that disney could possible improve or that there was some thing you don't like THEN you will be told a few standard things.

1) If you had researched your trip enough, you would have known these issues existed.
2) So many people don't get to go to disney. You are blessed by the Gods to be able to step foot into disney (never mind the fact that you paid good money to go) so suck it up and stop complaining.
3) You are a complainer. So what you have a dirty room, you should not let that bother you.
4) don't go anymore.

the Dis is great for information, very very knoweldgable people here with tons of tips. It is not great for objective reviews or to voice a complaint.

The late bus issues could have been in part to a PGA event being help at Magnolia and Palms golf courses. So in part it could have just been bad timing not to say I saw bunches of people at the course as if Tiger Woods was playing or something but it does cause congestion around the vicinity.

I beg your pardon, but thankfully we currently are not in wheel chairs :confused3 So actually your large stroller takes up much more room than the two of us (being small people), and we are sitting in seats, not taking up much of the isle.

In all fairness though, most complaints are really not complaints, they are whines. You read them and think "really? get with the real world" hence the immediate barrage of DISers jumping in to chop them down. I am amazed at the unrealistic expectations.

Real complaints that I have read are always met with helpful posts of who to contact.

:confused3

I haven't ridden a Disney bus since the 80s.. Those who have strollers, wheel chairs and EMV/ECVs already have a seriously difficult time getting around and in some cases the bus is the only form of transportation they have available to them (aside from using their own vehicle - if they have one). Personally, i feel they have a right to use the buses and if the wait times are longer due to it then the wait times are longer due to it. I do agree with the Seashore CM, if the waiting at the station is longer then the posted time then call and complain. It is possible Disney is experimenting with reducing the number of buses on a run and the complaints are how they gauge success. :moped: :)

1) If it's true, it's true... How many people have shown up during a predictably busy weekend and then post here commenting that they never saw it coming? And then take no steps to try to dodge the crowds? This whole site is about helping us do our research!

2) I'm always grateful to have the kind of disposable income I can fritter away on silly vacations. I will never, ever take it for granted or feel entitled to it.

3) There's legitimate complaints and then there's complaining. I experienced a dirty room recently, while travelling in Mississippi. I notified housekeeping on the spot and they fixed the issue. The next day we returned in the evening to a completely unmade room! So I walked down to guest services, had a word with them, and they not only sent up a team immediately to fix our room, they also comped us a night. Which went a long way to making us feel less cranky. Then, the next day, we noticed that the girl running the complimentary hot breakfast was doing an amazing job. So we stopped by guest services again to let them know. They kind of cringed when they saw us coming, but when they realized we wanted to compliment one of their staff, they couldn't have smiled broader. :thumbsup2

In summary, when I read an internet complaint, I always want to know - did you tell anyone who might have a reason to care? Did you give them a chance to make it up to you? What did you do to try to FIX the situation? And if the situation is unfixable (ie: trying to take a bus at the same time as a million other people), then what are you planning to do in the future to avoid experiencing this again? (Rent a car, take the bus at a different time of day, vacation in the low season, etc...)

A complaint is just a beginning. Finding a solution is the point!

4) This is a legitimate solution to the problem. If you're unhappy about something and none of the alternatives are acceptable and it's ruining your vacation... then for the love of all that's good, vacation somewhere that will make you happier!

Some posters never seem to post anything positive, ever. Sure they'll claim they "enjoy" visiting the parks, but they never mention anything concrete that went well. It's all just disaster and woe, even before they arrive, and definitely after. "I love visiting the parks but now let me tell you in detail, blow by blow, exactly how Disney's rocketing downhill with generic brown napkins, late busses packed like sardines, vicious stroller-wielding moms, drunks vomiting all over the place, rats running down the sidewalks in plain view, roaches and bedbugs in the hotel rooms..."

Really, one does have to wonder why some people keep coming back!

Sorry if this has already been brought up, but don't many (if not all) bus depots have signs that spell out the rules of the bus - one of them being to fold up strollers? There's nothing worse than ignorant people holding things up because they can't be bothered to educate themselves on the rules. And this goes for everyone - not just stroller handlers.

Of course the rules are posted but far too many people believe that those rules do not apply to them or their snowflakes.

Otherwise intelligent, considerate people do dumb things when they're overstimulated and tired.

I'm really happy that they're installing wait time monitors at the bus stops. I think everyone will be more prepared and patient, and it will attenuate the "hurry up and wait" atmosphere a bit.

Unorganized, indefinite bus waits tend to bring out the worst in those with Type A tendencies (myself included).

The only thing about Disney transportation that really bothers me is that the Contemporary, Poly and GF share busses. People pay so much to stay there, there should At least be a dedicated bus for each. I've found the busses to be much better at the valves I've stayed at then the deluxe resorts, at least the deluxe resorts have alternative transport making them more attractive, but still they should each get their own bus IMO.

WOW. You're the type that we complain about - rude & uncaring! Pleased to meet you :thumbsup2

She's probably also the type of parent who let's their kids push all the elevator buttons and smiles at "how cute" they are when they're being "precocious"

About the busses. Anyone mind if I try to look for a way to solve the problem? Disney has ImaginEAR's right? Let's put them to work on this problem. Hows about-

1. Everybody has seen the new doubledecker Mega/Super busses patrolling our interstates haven't they? We have a continuous schedule of them between St. Louis and Chicago and Indy.

2. How bout making the top level the "no stroller/no ECV" level and the bottom level half ECV and Half Stroller fams.

3. Improve the ramp up, having them ride right on and park since they will have more space.

4. separate entry points for all involved.

5. Everybody would be welcome to ride the bus, no federal laws stepped on.

6. Lower the overall number of busses used. Save fuel.

May/May not work. I don't hold a grudge to any family (I had twins and the strollery we had was bigger than a Yugo) or any disabled person. I go in relaxed state of mind and body. But, I do agree that Disney may need to look into the problem, similar to how they addressed the problem of bad coffee in the parks. :thumbsup2
