Here now, I hate MM+

Okay.

Would you agree or disagree that Disney's prime objective with FP+ is yield management?

If by "yield management" you mean that Disney is trying to allow a higher percentage of guests to enjoy certain attractions at least once, I would absolutely agree. I have said that many times.

That is why I understand that one of the reasons some people don't like FP+ is because they want to ride some of the most popular attractions multiple times per day, and FP+ might make it more difficult for them to do that. Because we are generally satisfied riding things once per day, if not once per trip, and never pulled that many FPs in the first place, it isn't a big deal to us. At a busy time like Christmas week, it made it EASIER to do everything we wanted once.

I have no desire to convince you or anyone else that FP+ is better for you. But I think it does help to present some opposing viewpoints for the benefit of first time or infrequent visitors who are being scared off by all the negativity.

As for how long FP lines have been in recent weeks, that is a matter of fact, not opinion. I have reported my actual experience with FP lines. If you think that I am fudging my facts because of an expectation that I was going to enjoy using FP+ during Christmas week, that is your choice.

This thread isn't giving me any warm fuzzies for our trip at the end of the month. Just made FP+ selections today. Thankfully crowds will be thinner...but a bit concerned now that see all resorts may be going FP+ only by the end of the month which could have some impacts on the system. Guess we'll see.

Don't get discouraged before you try it. We used it and loved it. Those against are very vocal and that is their right, but those for it simply have gotten tired of defending it and moved on.

I hope you have a great trip. :thumbsup2

The reason I think this issue is so polarizing has to do with Disney's intent.

The first rumblings about Next Gen changes seemed exciting and innovative. Disney is changing the way theme parks will work. It will be more immersive and interactive. The entire park would be the experience.

But as Rasulo has said in interview after interview this was designed not from an imagineering interactive standpoint but from an accounting business standpoint.

Some people benefit, some lose, and most won't know any better. But overall, it failed to deliver the big score.

It is nothing but a ruse - a very fancy loyalty card.

I think they screwed up by not having more of the interactive stuff ready to go. And now it looks like we might get some glowing trees in 2018 when pandora goes live.

Overall it is a dud. I understand, the bands can be more convenient, but they aren't much different than the RFID cards. Especially if you have discount cards.

Any benefits that come from it are balanced by trade offs.

If this MM+ stuff would have been created as a customer experience - think innovative 21st century, it would warrant high praise.

But as is... It's ok. Way more work for me than I prefer. And it isn't going to wring any extra money out if me, so I lose and Disney loses in my case.

100% agree. Expectations are very, very high when 1+ billion has been invested, the success of which isn't going to be measured in terms of how much "happier" I am on my next visit. This project, to me, is like a grand white paper on the largest investment in yield management ever in the theme park industry. I have no dog in the hunt whether it passes or fails, I am just sincerely interested in seeing how Disney reacts/adjusts/plans for the challenges they not only currently have but have created.

YOU GUYS. It's finally happening.

wisblue vs. LakeTravis: The Cagematch

I feel like I waited longer for this to happen than I will for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.

I've got 90,000 rocks on Lake. You totally owe me like 3 extra FP+s if you lose. ;)

Since some have a problem with MATH, allow me to break it down....I just bet $50 on LT.

Unfortunately, that is not what yield management is. I would encourage you to research the actual practice of yield management and how it relates to the allocation of limited resources of varying popularity to a group or groups of varying interests.

It should provide you with some very interesting insight as to what Disney is attempting to accomplish with MB and FP+, as well as the many challenges they face.

:goodvibes

Yeah, it is turning into that, so it's probably a good time to say good night.

Not to mention that Lake Travis has a lot more vocal supporters on this board than I do and I can't type fast enough to respond to everyone who will attack me if I say anything positive about FP+ or the length of FP lines.

So, I concede. Feel free to disregard anything I say.

I really don't care enough about delving into the economic issues of how much profit Disney is going to try to get from each of its guests. I will just ignorantly enjoy my visits to WDW and not worry about it.

No hard feelings, Wis.... I really do respect your position, as I hope you do mine.

And I know I keep saying it, but I really do believe that Disney is following many textbook principles when it comes to yield management. Checking out the science behind that helps to understand the challenges they face, as well as the possible solutions they will implement.

I love to hear the speculation that is trying to be passed off as fact once again.

All we need is someone to come along and say it's "ride rationing" for the 1,00,000,000 time.

Some people know as much about yield management as they do about patents and using Disney's financial reports on resort occupancy to come to biased, flawed conclusions.

And for people who say "they dont have a dog in the fight" and "they are DONE with Disney", they sure do expend a lot of time and energy in repeating themselves on most FP+ threads. Seems like a lot of time spent on something they claim otherwise.

Awesome first post! Did you just create this new username tonight? How many other usernames do you have?

Don't hate the playa, right? LOL!

Things that make you go hmm.... :rolleyes1

It is a good reminder that these forums are public on the internet for anyone to read. One does not have to be a registered member of DISBoards to read and keep up with matters such as FP+ that are being discussed regularly.

Ad Hominem attacks are a frequent tactic used by those who want to silence any opposing viewpoints.

What would be your viewpoint? All I can see from your first post is an outburst?

As are the creation of new and additional online identities by "one" who feels insecure with "ones" previous persona.

Not accusing YOU of that, of course.....

Welcome to the DIS. Here are the results of this past week's survey we all took. Hopefully you will be around for next weeks issue....you just never know what it will be about. Well.....most of us do.

My viewpoint is simply using your previous post as a example of someone's speculation being passed off as fact. You drew conclusions based on your bias and then presented them as definitive statements.

Speaking of someone who claims to be done with Disney.

Juvenile, ad hominem attacks and baseless accusations do not detract from the fact that these tactics are mainly used by those lacking the intellectual capacity to discuss matters at hand and prefer to just demonize the messenger.

It is a shame that new posters are often accused of this because they do not agree with the prevailing group thought. New posters must be silenced.
