Here now, I hate MM+

At Mk, there was a CM with a Green Flag who signaled the end of the FP line for Buzz. I asked how long the wait for FP was. He said 20 min from that point.

Earlier in this post, in response to another post (heck, or maybe even another thread, I've lost track) someone wanted examples of extended FP+ wait times.

I offered that during a recent visit, some of the FP+ lines were so long that Disney felt it was necessary to have CM's stand at the end of the line with a pole that had a "FastPass" sign at the top so everybody could see where the end of the line was.

Others claimed they were there the same time as I was and never saw such a thing.

So I've asked others who are there now if they are seeing this, and several are now coming back saying that they do.

And apparently or possibly, WDW ran out of poles with a "FastPass" sign at the top and are now having to use colored flags or other means to indicate where the end of the long line is.

One source of confusion was/is that the longer an FP line becomes, guests can't tell the difference between the FP line and the Standby line, and they get in the FP line first even though they don't have an FP. Because, believe it or not, in many cases the FP line was longer than the SB line and it was the one they encountered first.

Got some really bad advice on this...

Why you make a comprehensive reservation system at a place where 95% of your stuff is 20-40 years old is beyond me. Do they honestly think that people want to book fast pass for The American Adventure in advance? They predictably overestimated their own demand. Not for the complex as a whole... But for the rides.

So now it gets interesting.

I've been thinking of this, and I have another question.

I am a passholder. I am staying at the Dolphin in March, which means I can access the front of the park kiosks for FP+ once I'm on property. The Dolphin is not, and according to the employee we spoke to, probably will not ever allow online reservations for their hotel guests. But this is a "perk" I'm entitled to once I check in.

BUT….in theory, can't I just stick my annual pass in the old FP machines and proceed with fast passes the way I always have? Do I HAVE to use this option they are offering to Dolphin guests at all? Since annual pass holders aren't yet on the new system, don't the rules for annual pass holders apply to me regardless of where I stay? Do I HAVE to link my annual pass to my stay at the Dolphin, or can't I just carry on as though I'm a regular pass holder visiting the park on any other given day?

Sorry, but this whole thing has us pretty stressed out because we are visiting during spring break, a super busy time. We are annual pass holders, but we live a plane ride away from the parks, so it's not like I can just pop in at any time. The more I think about it, since my ticket is an annual pass, why would I have to try to use the FP+ at all on this upcoming trip?

The old Fastpass machines are already gone in Animal Kingdom (so only FP
+for that park) and are scheduled to be removed from all parks by spring. Old Fastpass will most likely not exist when you are there.

That is, assuming it will be up and running for passholders online by March. What are passholders currently doing at AK for fast passes? Utilizing the kiosks, I would assume?

This is all so confusing, and I guess I managed to pick a bad time to visit. Crowded, and on the cusp of a transition away from the original Fastpass system. And, here I am, having booked the Dolphin, and having no online access as a passholder (as of yet) and no info as to when exactly it will be happening. Kinda leaves my vacation hanging, and I don't that that a bit! And it wasn't like the airline tix were cheap at this time of year either! Basically, it's the only time my kiddos are off school, so that's why we are going. In hindsight, I might have made other spring break plans. Thanks for listening to my rant on this. And I'm a HUGE fan of all things Disney. Going to try to roll with it, but it's made me feel upset for one of the first times ever about an upcoming Disney trip.

Have you stayed onsite yet? If not, you can't prebook FP+ with your AP. So then you will use the same-day kiosks upon entry into the park, assuming all of the paper FP are gone by March.

You might want think about adding a day onsite to get access to FP+, but there are no guarantees. Maybe by March APs will have prebooking access, even without the resort-stay loophole.

I never saw a FP line longer than the SB Line. I was there 12/28 - 1/1. Spent NYE at MK. We had the opposite experience - FP lines were a lot shorter than previous. TSM we walked to the boarding area without seeing a soul in front of us. The only place that we waited 15 minutes was for BTM - which wasn't unusual.

i think it may be having to scan the bands that creates the inital back up making the FP+ sign look longer. typically, we had to wait foe the few people in front of us to scan, but then walked all the way up to the merge/second scan point with no wait. the FP+ queue was actually empty wven though there was a line outside (like the people hovering until their time kinda)

We definitely encountered the flags, even for the People Mover. We were there 12/25-12/30. We were off property, so no FP+, but were using a DAS so utilizing the FP entrance at each ride. Our experience was that people were attempting to enter early and not getting caught until the 2nd station and having to exit against traffic. Or just before a new time period would start, they would form a line blocking others from entering. Since you can't really tell why the line is wrapped 1/2 way around the building, people were waiting in the next hour's line and missing their entrance times! Others were just standing around, not actually in line, but taking up space in the line nonetheless. Cuz who would think there was a line there?!? Several times we were delayed while guests in front of us had glitchy bands not scan correctly or had missed their time waiting in that line unknowingly. Again, this was just my observation while attempting to use the DAS through the same entrance.
