Here now, I hate MM+

It is a good reminder that these forums are public on the internet for anyone to read. One does not have to be a registered member of DISBoards to read and keep up with matters such as FP+ that are being discussed regularly.

Ad Hominem attacks are a frequent tactic used by those who want to silence any opposing viewpoints.

There have been no ad hominems yet.

A frequent tactic by those who can't win an argument based on facts is a flight to anonymity while proclaiming a non-existent moral high ground.

Anonymity? What is your real name? is it Silock? You are anonymous to some degree arent you?

And jumping on me accusing me of being another person is a definition of an ad homimen attack. Rather than discuss what I am saying, claims are made against me. No place for that in a rationale, intellectual discussion.

Speaking of someone who claims to be done with Disney.

Juvenile, ad hominem attacks and baseless accusations do not detract from the fact that these tactics are mainly used by those lacking the intellectual capacity to discuss matters at hand and prefer to just demonize the messenger.

It is a shame that new posters are often accused of this because they do not agree with the prevailing group thought. New posters must be silenced.

Sugar, you have 5 posts. Stick around, the messenger is often demonized, no matter the topic. It isn't smart to act as though you're smarter than the rest of us.

They are on my ressie but can't get their ticket to show up or FP+ ressies to show up AT ALL!

This was a major problem for us during our Nov trip. All kids on the reservation, but first my two oldest boys' tickets didn't show so could not make FP+ for them with the rest of us. THEN as soon as they finally showed, the girls' tickets disappeared, along with their already scheduled FP+. MAJOR PITA :furious: The only times we got to do FP together was when we pulled FP-. They need to get these kinds of kinks worked out before they pull FP- completely.

This is his third time trying. Personally, I thought he would be in a better mood since South Carolina won their Bowl game. I guess I was wrong.

There is far less anonymity within the community when you have established an identity of some sort.

And being as we are not in an argument, I cannot be guilty of an ad hominem. Nor did I accuse YOU of resorting to anonymity.

I certainly can't help it if you feel guilty of it, though.

I have no idea any more what this original thread was about but the argument over who is using what fallacy is immensely entertaining. :) I call straw man because that is my favorite fallacy.

I see it all as a way for Disney to keep everyone honest with the FP+ and MB. It was getting difficult to get dining reservations - now having to reserve with a credit card - it's amazing how easy it is to get reservations now. So that just shows you how many were working the system.

Janis

This is a pretty important observation here and an example of why changes were made. People were making dining reservations at multiple restaurants just to keep their options open and then not showing up. People screamed about having to reserve with a credit card but all of a sudden it is possible to get reservations again. The same thing was happening with fast passes. Some people were pulling dozens of fast passes in a day. How may threads have we read where people talk about how they had to throw away fast passes because they couldn't use them and couldn't get anyone to take them? We have no way of knowing what percentage of fast passes pulled were never used. Those fast passes tossed in the trash represent people that didn't get to ride that day.

I'm not going to sit here and try to say that Disney is just looking out for our own good but clearly there was an escalating level of abuse of the system and as more people learned how to game the system they had to make a decision at some point to rein it in. A lot (not all) of the people I see complaining most about the change go on to follow with anecdotes about how they used to be able to pull a dozen or more during a day. They weren't breaking any rules but it wasn't working the way Disney designed it. While it was great for the minority that had learned how to play the game it was detrimental to the majority of the casual customers. If one customer rides Space Mountain six times in one day with a fast pass that is five other customers that were not able to get a fast pass for that ride and possibly didn't get to ride it at all during peak season. (If the math on that example isn't possible please don't get stuck on attacking that. It doesn't change the point.) I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more than three a day but the day of a dozen is gone.

This thread isn't giving me any warm fuzzies for our trip at the end of the month. Just made FP+ selections today. Thankfully crowds will be thinner...but a bit concerned now that see all resorts may be going FP+ only by the end of the month which could have some impacts on the system. Guess we'll see.

We were just there the week of Thanksgiving and if it makes you feel any better we loved the bands and we didn't have any problems. We did stay at Pop for two nights before checking in at Coronado Springs and the wifi at Pop didn't work well at all. It worked great at Coronado Sorings though.

My advice would be to print your fast pass plus info out so that you don't have to keep looking at your phone, it screen shot a picture of it. We were able to make changes easily too.

I agree that more than 3 fast passes are needed and I would hope that they will not decide to charge us for extra ones. It costs a small fortune to go to Disney as it is.

As a seasoned July 4th traveler, I see one clear benefit- the south American tour groups! No longer will a tour group leader be standing in line ahead of me with 300 tickets for FP as I watch the return times shift by more than an hour.

I do prefer the FOTL access at Universal but they only have 3 hotels, going on 4. Size matters. That kind of system work fo them because there are fewer onsite guests. It is a great perk though and has made us spend more than one night over in the dark side.

I will reserve judgment on the system until I personally see it in action.

Here's one: TT FP line 50 minutes

You actually responded to that post:

Except the ride wasn't broken down. It was just a long FP line.

That thread had a lot of good discussion about why the TT FP line is often long and why that has a lot more to do with the ride design than FP+. It includes some comments from a CM (The Hub) who provided information about how they try to manage the lines.

Even a number of the posters who openly admit that they hate FP+ acknowledged that FP+ was probably not the cause of that long line, and that that specific experience was not typical.

I will note for the record that I made a number of other comments on that thread, not just the one that you chose to lift out. I also note that your original post in that thread concluded with the line "Yep, this new FP system is wonderful". I see that you edited that post late last night and that that line no longer appears. Were you concerned that the last line compromised your claim that you are really neutral about FP+?

No hard feelings, Wis.... I really do respect your position, as I hope you do mine.

I do respect your opinion and the opinions of others who feel that FP+ is going to make their WDW experiences less enjoyable.

I am sending you a PM.

Moving to rumour board as there is speculative comments in the OP posts along with other posts.

Is there any way you could move this thread to the TPA&S board, please? Yes, the first post is a "trip report" but there's a very good strategy discussion at its end that I think would help lots of people -- first timers and regulars -- cope with the new technology involved during their next visit.

A thread copy would be even more efficient and helpful. Would leave it on the trip report board for those that think it is a trip report, but also copy it to the planning board, where it is actually more appropriate. Takes care of everyone.

We were there in October and were able to use our MB with our FP+ on them AND get paper fp using our room key (they gave us both just in case the MB didn't work). And we were told it was perfectly fine to use both MB and paper fp so no flames. Am I understanding that for my March trip we will only be able to use FP+? Are the days of paper fp over? Or can I choose to not use FP+ and just go with paper?

If you are staying at a Disney resort in March you will not have paper FP. People staying off site might still have access to paper FP at MK,HS and Epcot in March, but I highly doubt it the way things are rolling.

FYI you have to pay for any "fast passes" at universal. Go on over there....less folks for the rest of us to wait behind! :)
