We'll be coming to WDW from Atlanta, GA. I got our directions from Mapquest. They seem pretty clear but I've read on the Dis about a new way not yet on Mapquest. Can someone give me directions coming from Atlanta using the "Western Way"? Is it any longer? We'll be driving our motorhome to Fort Wilderness, any help would be appreciated!!

Come down I-75 to exit (approx.) #328 Florida's Turnpike.
Exit the turpike onto Route 429 south towards Tampa.
Get off 429 at the Disney/Hartzog exit, turn left and you will see the Disney arches and be on Western Way.
Takes you to Buena Vista Drive near Blizzard Beach.
Left to get to main north-south drag World Drive.

I also live outside of Atlanta (howdy neighbor!) Is this new way suppose to be shorter or about the same? Thanks

This route is a little shorter and a LOT less traffic.

FYI with a single axle trailer the tolls on this route are $6.50. If your trailer has a double axle, not sure of the tolls.

Thanks for the heads up on the tolls! We are driving our Motorhome so I'm not sure what they'll charge but whatever it is, it'll be a drop in the ocean of what this trip is costing:sad2:

Cherokeemamma: :goodvibes we actually live in MD but are driving to Atlanta first. We have family in Marietta and my DH is doing the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Once he gets out of the stock car and back in the motohome, we ought to make to WDW in record time :scared1:

One last question, if anyone knows... Using this route, when will we see the WDW arch?

After you get off 429 at the Hartzog Rd. exit, turn left onto Western Way and the arches are ahead of you. You are just on the Disney land border and if you could see through the trees on the right, the northern edge of the Animal Kingdom safari will be in the distance. It's about three miles to Blizzard Beach.

Just watch your speed on 429 and where you enter Disney property. That is a great place that the police sit. They have given out lots of speeding tickets.

You actually don't turn left when you get off onto Western Way. When you're southbound on TOLL 429 (Western Beltway) and use the new Disney exit the ramp loops around to your right (cloverleaf style) such that when you get to the bottom of the ramp you're turning right and headed east into WDW. But as long as you follow the "Disney World" ramp, you can't go wrong.

A two-axle vehicle pays $2.50 on Florida's Turnpike and $1.00 on TOLL 429 between I-75 and the Western Way exit. Vehicles with more axles pay progressively more.
