My brother has given my family of six his DVC points for the week of December 27, 2014 thru January 3, 2014. He has booked us at BCV for the week. I have been to disney several times but we have always booked thru a Travel Agent so I am not quite sure what to do. I was wondering if someone could please answer some questions that I have:

1. We need insurance and I am not quite sure how to go about this. I need to insure the flight, MYW tickets, food plan, and the points of the BCV. Any suggestions or does Disney have insurance I can buy from them that covers all of this?

2. We want to purchase the dining plan for the week. I know I can do this if we all purchase it but do I then have to buy my 8 day MYW/Park Hopper tickets thru disneyworld.com or can I buy them from undercovertourist.com?

3. Also when I purchase the Dining Plan, I do that thru the dvc member site correct?

Anyone that could help me out with this, it would very much be appreciated.

Thanks.

With DVC reservations, there is no ticket requirement for the dining plan. You can buy your own tickets. But, your brother must add the dining plan to your reservation and it must be paid when it is added.

I haven't used travel insurance with my DVC stays, but I think the DVC insurance only covers points and your brother would need to purchase that. I have heard you can purchase other insurance on your own to cover your entire trip. But not through DVC or Disney.

Sounds like a fabulous trip coming up for your family! We were at BCV over Christmas 2013 and it's always so wonderful there and at the parks!

I know that when we buy airfare, we are usually offered travel insurance when we purchase. Maybe your credit card company can give you some information on travel insurance if you are using your credit card to purchase airfare and MYW tickets.
