We are staying at OKW for the first time in July :dance3: and would like to get suggestions as to what buildings would be best for view, peace, but not too far away from main pool and bus stop. Also what floor is the best for a studio.

I like being away from the main pool - too much traffic for me - but I don't have little kids.

don't get a first floor - some are handicapped (no tubs), others are surrounded by shurbs, bushes - others are next to the air conditioning units...

so if you can get a second floor or higher. (there are only 3 floors on most of the building some have 2 floors)

however if you only want near the main pool and LAST bus stop - then 11-14, 62-64 - are the closest - 15, 16, 17 aren't too far.

further back with a nicer view of the area - 23-26 - this has it own bus stop and is the first stop (so if you miss it just walk to the HH for last stop)

I personally like building 18 or 55 - both very nice water views.

I hope this information helps. My DH and I walked the whole resort looking for what we hope will be one of the best building for us. We really didn't want to stay to close to the HH but if you do then I would suggest 64. It's in between two buildings, not close to a "main" road, overlooks the golf course and some water, and is a relatively short walk to the main pool. However: it is the last bus stop and if busses are full then you will not be able to get on the bus. I would suggest either 53, 54, 55 or 56 because they are all located near a quiet pool and a bus stop. I would also suggest buildings 43, 44, and 40 for the same reasons. However: the pool near these building has a snack bar called the Turtle Shack.

You don't want your requests to be too complex. Simply state "top floor near Hospitality House".

I disagree with Diane. If you are looking to stay in a specific building then by all means - REQUEST IT! There are MANY buildings near the HH but some are closer than others. It NEVER hurts to request a specific building that is closer to the HH. You may get stuck in the building that has it's bus stop at the HH but is the furthest away if you don't speak up.

We just made reservations today for the last week of July for a studio also, does anyone have a layout of were studios are located at?

I loved building 15. It's quiet, and half way between two bus stops. And it's just a short walk to the HH.

Thanks everyone for the great info. I have only requested a non smoking, high floor at this point. And I'd rather have a nice quiet view than be around the loudness of the main pool. So my new question is...about how long of a walk is it from buildings 55 and 18 to the HH and main pool?

Stayed at building 14 the last 2 trips to OKW and loved it there.

We were just there in May and had room 1422 and it was super!! It is across from the hospitality house, there are not rooms around the main pool, they are all across the street. It was great. We have always stayed in the turtle pond area but with turtle shack not always open and we get refrillable mugs I wanted to be near the area that I knew would be open. I now have a new area that I love and It won't be anything but the hospitality house area.

If you choose to walk from 55, it will take you about 5-8 minutes, but you can take ANY bus from the South Point bus stop, and it will drop you off in about 10 minutes.

All buildings have studios, and the studios are all on the outside corners of the buildings. Not are buildings are the same, and the link Spicey gave of Doc's review is a good one for looking at how each building is configured. I think if you request a specific building you are seriously limiting your request, because there may not be a studio available in that building when you check in. There would be no way for the front desk or scheduling people to know why you were requesting that building, so making your general requests would be the best way to get what you want.

the problem with requesting a building - is what happens if the building is full.
the room controller can't put you in that building.

it is always best to ask for a view or near something.

I don't think I'll request a certain bldg. but want to be prepared for check in to see if we have options that I could choose from that are ready. So thank you to everyone for listing their favorites and why. You guys are the best!! :grouphug:

I "third" building 14. We stayed there, first timers, early May. We were on the first floor and had no issues with either foot traffic nor view.

Upon returning from the parks, we would get off at Pennisular stop and walk back to our room.

Great location.

We like the Southpoint or Turtle Pond area.

The area near the HH is a bit too busy and loud for us. We were there one summer and they had this "beach party" thing every day at the main pool, with a DJ and music and all sorts of carrying on.

Southpoint has a quiet pool and a bus stop. Turtle Pond has a quiet poll with a snack bar and a bus stop. Every bus that leaves OKW stops at the HH last, so if you wanted to get there and didn't want to walk, you could hop on any bus. I usually ask the driver when I get on if he/she will be stopping at the HH, just to make sure.

I don't really think there is a building that is much more than a leisurely 10-15 minute walk from the HH, no matter where you are located.

What buildings are in the Southpoint and Turtle Pond areas? I looked on the map but only see the building #'s, not by names.
