My BIL and his family (who live is Austrailia) are considering coming back to the States next year.

They have told us they may want to spend a week in Orlando and would like us to come with them. We weren't planning on returning to WDW for 2 years, but I certainly would never pass up the opportunity ;).

There are 2 families (wanting to stay together in the same room). There are 8 people total, including 4 children. The ages of the 4 children late next summer would be: girl - age 10, girl - age 9, boy - age 7, and girl - age 4.

We are NOT interested in renting a house. Would a 2 bedroom be large enough? Are there any resorts with 3 bedrooms?

What resorts would you suggest, and which ones would you avoid?

(Edit) Oops...I forgot to ask..... can we all stay in one of the resorts that offer timeshares. DH and I would be willing to do the timeshare part, but I wasn't sure if 2 families were allowed to stay in the same unit when they are so drastically discounted?

Thanks :)

Hi - I just found a 3 bedroom condo yesterday. It is a place called Cypress Pointe located in Lake Buena Vista. 2 miles from Disney.

The 3 bedroom condo has a full kitchen as well as a washer & dryer.

I found it on Hotels.com - The best part - $99.95 a night in September!!!!

I booked it for the 5 of us - hope that it is as nice as it looks!!!

Good Luck!!:D :Pinkbounc

Thanks Suezpqt!

That's a terrific rate! I'll check it out :)

The Hilton Grand Vacation club has three bedroom units. It's a great place. I've been to three Orlando timeshares in the past three years (Vistana resort, Orangle Lake, and HGVC) and the Hilton was the nicest by far.

We're booked at Cypress Pointe for the exact same reason, 2 families, 4 kids between us. The thing that sold me was that the 3 BRs there have 3 bathrooms!

Jeff968,

Thanks!!! Who did you book your reservation with?

I have a friend who sells weeks that people decide not to use and he got this for us. It was only $675 for President's week 2002 but I think it was so cheap due to 9/11. He couldn't get me back there this year and we ended up at Orange Lake. A nice place but no Hilton.

mcnuss - Thanks! 3 bathrooms would be a huge plus with 8 people!

jeff - our neighbors own at Orange Lake, but I've never seen it, they recommended it to us. $675 is a wonderful rate! Sorry he couldn't get it for you again.

I would also recommend Cypress pointe Grande Villas we stayed in a 2 bedroom there last year and thought the place was awesome.with 8 people definetly get a 3 bedroom.we used www.hotelkingdom.com to make our ressies and would use them again.

You are quite welcome.we loved it there and will stay ther again.we are DVC members and just need somewhere for a night or 2 and we will definetly be staying again.:p

There are 3BR timeshare units at:

Celebration World Resort
Embassy Vacation at Grand Beach/Sunterra Grand Beach
HGVC - Hilton Grand Vacations Club
Liki Tiki-Ron Jon Resort
Marriott Imperial Palms at MOWC
Marriott Grand Vista
Oasis Lakes Resort
Orange Lake Country Club
Silver Lake Resort
Summer Bay Resort
Sunterra Cypress Pointe & SCP Grandvillas

When you book on a timeshare promo, it ought to be fine for just one couple to attend the promo sales tour for a single unit booking. If you wanted to get two separate units, they would more likely require eligible adults from each unit to tour.

Many 2BR units will sleep 8 people, but it's a tight squeeze with every bed and sofa sleeper in use. That's okay when there's just one family but you may find it less desirable with 2 families together. JMHO. HTH. :)

Orange Lake has a great 3 bedroom unit. The master bedroom has king size bed and own bathroom. The 2nd bedroom has a queen size bed and a pull out couch, its own bathroom The 3rd bedroom, across the hall from the master, has 2 queen beds and a bathroom right outside the door. Great unit.

I did a lot of research....I found Doubletree has 3 bedrooms but not too many good reviews...

so thats why we choose HIFS for $82.00 and some privacy I couldn't find anything better....

but then again we are only going for 5 nights...

I will be curious to know what you find out...

Let us know:D

I have stayed at the Mariott Imperial Palms and it was quite spacious. Also, I believe Star Island has three bedroom units but I believe they are two bath.

We are considering 2 connecting (or is is ajoining, l can never get them straight) units at HIFS!

However, I think we all want to be in the same unit. We haven't seen BIL in 3 years and his family in 8 years.

But MIL seemed to think they would be fine at HIFS if we picked that as a resort for us all to stay at.

This is all in it's pre-planning stage. I'm not even sure what month they are coming!

Thanks :)

We stayed at the DoubleTree and thought it was terrific! The only thing was that the furnishings were a little outdated, but we had a great unit at the back of the property over-looking the pnd & fountain. It was private and very quiet. We also had some ducks who visited our patio every evening. It was fun!
