Hi:

We're planning a trip to London for 9 days in May to attend the Chelsea Flower Show. We'd like to stay in Mayfair/Chelsea areas. I would like a king bed and satellite tv and I am not sure where to stay. All suggestions are greatly appreciated. Email jjvnone@yahoo.com. Thanks Alot!!

I can't help with most of your questions as I live in Nashville, TN.

However I was cruising over here since we are also going to the flower show.

Having done the flower show one other time I have a suggestion in case this is your first visit.

ARRIVE EARLY! Think EE At Disney (LOL!) In order to see the gardens without being mobbed you need to be thru the gates at opening.

Have a good time. Which day are you going?

Vacationeer you're looking to stay in one of the most expensive areas of London, if you're ok with that then fine, but if you want to find a better class of hotel for the same price, or just to save money then you may be better thinking about other areas of London. You can check out Expedia for some prices of hetels in London. They often have some decent deals on good hotels. With the subway service in London getting about is pretty easy and you can afford to be a fair distance from Chelsea and still get there pretty quickly.

I would agree that this is not a good place to stay. The London Underground is great and you will get a much better deal by going slightly away from this area but your journey time to the flower show will not be significantly greater. Also as another poster has said, get there early and wear comfortable shoes.

Sue.

PS I lived in London for 24 years until I got married.

Might be worth considering the Victoria (SW1) area as there is a special bus (as well as the normal services) that run to the Flower Show.
There's a Holiday Inn right by Victoria station and if you want something a little smaller the Rubens is almost oppisite.
Mayfair hotels are generally very nice but top dollar price wise. Depends on your budget

Another vote for the Rubens. We have stayed there a couple of times and thought it was very nice.
