Anyone got 1,300 to spare?? HAHAHAH JK :)

Ok now seriously I still owe that to disney, thats not including flights (900 more) some stuff has happened that wasnt planned and im broke and scared that i will not be able to pay for the trip in time (have to pay by oct 25th)

I know i can pay before i leave just not by oct 25th.

so i need ideas of how i can save money easily and tips you have for if this has happened to you.. did disney work with you etc :) please help

oh and donations can be made at 1-800-i-wish-i-had-a-money-tree :D :rotfl:

Can you drop your ticket days down to 1 and then just add them back when you check in? We had to do that one year....and it worked just fine.

They will also give you a small grace period, I can't remember if it's 7 days or 14 but you can call and they'll tell you. You have to call though, so they can make a note on your reservation or it'll automatically cancel at a certain 'late' date.

Clean out your closets and drawers, have a yard sale, have the kids sell cookies and lemonade...easiest and fastest way to make quick cash!

Take nicer items to a consignment shop or sell them on craigslits/ebay.

Find somewhere to donate plasma. (DH could donate other stuff as well :rolleyes1)

Let friends and neighbors know you need to make some extra cash, offer to mow lawns, run errands, do extra cleaning, haul junk.

Offer overnight babysitting services to friends and neighbors. Or pet sitting..

The only other thing you could you do is switch to a room only, which wouldn't require payment until check in.
You wouldn't qualify for the dining plan, free or otherwise, but it would give you the time you need.
If you're not doing Free Dining (or any other discount that may expire) then you could go back and add the regular dining plan once you have the money to pay in full within 45 days, but before (I think) 5 days.

That's a lot to try and save in 2 and half months split what you owe for the next few pay days depending when that is and cut down on your shopping by going without certain things for a few months and making simple cheap meals

That's a lot of money to come up with in very little time. If saving money were easy, everyone would do it. My advice is to cut back on the package somehow so that you can pay for everything when it is due.

1. Reduce the tickets to 2-day MYW base tickets. That is the minimum amount needed to do the free dining package. Upgrade to the days and entitlements after you want after you arrive in Disney.

2. Change the resort room to a lower category (i.e. switch to a value if you're at a moderate, change from preferred location to standard view).

3. Reduce the number of days in your package. Plan to spend the first and last night in a room-only reservation that you make after you have the available funds to pay for them. Or call Disney and add the days back to your package after you have the money available. Disney does not charge a change fee if you make a change to your reservation that results in you giving them more money.

4. Last option - reschedule the vacation so that the balance is due after you have the money to pay for it. You wouldn't be the first or last person who changed their vacation plans after life got in the way.

I'd reschedule the trip to next year. $1300 and $900 to get together in two months is going to be tough. And what happens if other unexpected things come up? You're just going to be too stressed.

This is a great idea!

Can you drive instead of fly?

That's a lot to save in a short time. I would reschedule the trip. What if other unexpected things come up between now and then?

We did not vacation at all this year for that very reason. Life got in the way. We spent our 2012 vacation budget on cancer treatments. Canceling the vacation was an easy decision and the first thing to go when we realized that we were going to have very high unexpected expenses.

Thanks for the help, canceling has been a thought however my dad ( who I'm going with) keeps saying its up to you but it would a nice trip. He needs to get out he never has a break. Etc, flying is the only option I live in Colorado to far to drive. My dad is going to help just don't know when. Also I'm on a free qs pinned offer upgraded to reg dining ( for realllly cheap) and were staying at pop. I think I'm going to call them today and see what I can do

Btw: the unexepected thing was putting my doggy dog and he was cremated. My dad typically pays for the emergencys etc but that one I did since he was my dog

There's also the possibility of changing that DDP back to the QSDP to save money. I understand the need for time away from everyday life. But Disney is not the only option, so don't dismiss the idea of cancelling the trip or postponing it until later. There's a free dining offer for other dates in the fall and early winter.

My sympathies. My dogs are an important part of my life and I understand how difficult this must have been for you.

Maybe you should just cancel. If you don't have airfare, its not going to get cheaper as time goes on. If you have to wait until you have the reservation paid off to get plane tix, you might end up paying more than the $900 you expect.

Sorry about your dog. Its sad to lose a pet.

All of this!!

Look at other flight options with more layovers. Sometimes adding a layover can save you hundreds. How about a train? It will take more time, but might save money.

Knock back to the QSDP. If this is truly an emergency "I can't pay Disney" situation, then cut back every dollar you can. You can always add it back in once you get closer to the trip, and upgrades shouldn't cost you a fee.

Be very creative and you'll find a way to make some extra money. If I had a Mom in my neighborhood offer to make my kids lunches I totally would pay for that. It's those day to day chores that get people interested in outsourcing.

Have you looked into driving to a different hub for your flight? I know my husband and I save hundreds by driving to Dallas from Oklahoma. This is even with factoring in gas, parking, and a hotel the night before our flight out of Dallas. You can sometimes save if you're willing to drive a few hours to catch a flight.

Southwest has been running a few sales lately.

I'm sorry for your loss.

we had a doggy emergency and our disney balance was due at the same time. We were gonna drop our tickets down but the cost wasnt much saving since we bought our package before the ticket increase. So just keep that in mind. Disney is good and wont cancel anything until 30days out. good luck!

Hope you get it all worked out :) Sorry about your doggy :(

I would definitely drop back down to the QSDP (you can upgrade when you check in). And like I said before, try the ticket thing. If you reduce your tickets to 2 days now.....then add them back on at check in, that will save you from having to pay upfront.

If you have not purchased your airfare it is only going to get more expensive as you get closer to your trip. Last year we flew from Portland, Oregon to Orlando at Christmas and paid $430 per person. This year we priced it out and it was even more expensive so we opted to go to Disneyland instead. Maybe that can be an option for you to save on airfare.

actually airfare isnt really a problem, we are memebers with frontier and can get good rates at anytime, thanks for the support on my doggy we had him for 18 years :(

thanks so much for the suggestion of down grading the food, and tickets, didnt think of that!! with doing that (and if they really do give you a grace period) that will help ALOT! i know i can have it paid (aside from airfare) by early november. My dad is paying around 700 at least at the end of the month.
