please help me im needing a new car seat for my 3yo dd. im giving my mom ours. she is 3 and it must be a 5 point harness all the ones i have seen our 5 point harness just up to 40 pounds then you use the car buckle. i want a 5 point harness do you know of one for higher weight limit?:confused3

The new Graco Nautilus goes to 65 lbs harnessed. Can get it at WalMart, Babies R Us, and Burlington Coat Factory/Baby Depot. Though I also saw it at our Fred Meyer (a Kroger store). Costs about 150.

And there's the enormous Britax Regent, which goes to 80 lbs harnessed.

We love the idea of harnessing as long as the Regent, but even though we have a boat of a car, it's just too big. We're getting the Nautilus soon, and when he gets to 65 lbs we'll see what's on the market then. :goodvibes

We have a van, so the regent is no problem. It harnesses to 80 lbs, and the harness heights are really high too.

The other Britax that isnt so big is the Marathon. It harnesses to 65 lbs, but the top harness heights are lower. I believe they are 17.5 inches? My ds 4.5 is 41.5 inches tall, and he can still ride in the Marathon, but we bought a Regent so it would last him longer. He is getting close to the top harness heigh for the Marathon. I would think it may last him another year. So it depends how tall your dd is now. If you are having another child in the future, the Marathon also rear-faces to 35 lbs, so it can be used with an infant as well.

I have just finally seen the Nautilis too. Our Walmart was out of them for quite awhile. Looks really nice. Much smaller than the regent. About the same size as the Marathon, but can be used longer as it switches to a belt posititioning booster (I think) after the 65 lb limit is met. I do not know how tall the top harness heights are?

Watch the heights as well as weights as you look around, my kids have always outgrown carseats by height before weight.

We have the Britax Boulevard. It goes from infant to 65lbs. It also has the Side Impact Protection that the other Britax's don't have.

I have the Britax Marathon for my oldest DD, but am planning on upgrading to the Britax Regent once I switch my youngest to the Marathon. I know the Regent looks HUGE, but it is only 1 1/2'' wider than the Marathon. I think it is great that it goes up to 80lbs and am hoping it will fit into my car :)

Yeah this is actually what we have for our dd (21 months). It has the same height/weight limit as the Marathon. We love it.

And fwiw, the regent seems so much bigger than the Boulevard. They sit side by side and the Blvd is good sized, but I do agree the Regent is big. The weight is actually what surprised me more than the size - that thing is HEAVY! But I love it too. Ds is so comfortable in it, and when I see kids his size (41 inches, 35 lbs) riding around in the boosters, they just seem so much less secure!

I agree with the suggestion of the Graco Nautilus. I just bought one for my DH's car. I wish I knew about it earlier, I would have gotten one for my car too! However, I was able to snag a Radian65 on a great deal (friend's son outgrew hers and it is in new condition) and I like it as well. It also harness to 65 lbs.

The Graco gets you the best bang for your buck though.

We have a Nania Airway that goes to 50lbs with the five point harness.

The Radian65 and Radian80 (up to 65# and 80#) are both much more narrow than the Regents, Britax and Graco. If space is an issue for you, I have 4 of the Graco Nautilus's and we couldn't fit 3 across our back row of the minivan. So we had to put two in the middle and 2 in the back row. Neither here nor there, but info you may need.

My dd4 rides in Apex 65 seats in both cars - they harness to 65 lbs. and then converts to a booster until 100 lbs. It is a big seat and you must have a high seat back or adjustable headrests. My ds6 still fits in this seat (48" tall and 50 lbs).

I have a Britax Wizard - I think that's what the Boulevard was called before. It harnesses to 65 lbs. My husband's truck has the Apex someone previously mentioned.

For both of my DD's we use the Britax. The oldest has the Wizard and my youngest has the Boulevard. My oldest (4 yrs. old) is 44 inches tall and about 45 pounds. She fits very well in it and has always been comfortable. My youngest (2 yrs. old) is about 40 inches and 42 pounds and she fits well in her seat as well. Britax is unveiling a new seat this May and we will probably buy that one for our oldest since her seat is approaching 5 years old and will need to be replaced. There are lots of car seats out there that have weight limits higher than 45 pounds and are five point harnesses. Carseats are one of those things that I refuse to skimp on and buy the best. There is nothing more important than my children's safety!

My 3 yr old dd has the Britax Regent. We love it.
