I have some old Hollywood Park shares. They have since become Pinnacle Entertainment group. What I'm trying to find out is how many times has this stock split since the mid 1960's. Is there a way to find out online?

Also, I have some old stock to Western Semiconductors. I can't find anything at all about them. Did they beciome defunct? Become someone else? Any ideas of where to look? Google couldn't help me.

Thanks!

You may want to ask if the ever recalled the old stock and issued new share under the new name. Sometimes there are time limits on turning the old shares under a recall.

My mistake. Look on the old certificates and see if there is a transfer agent listed and start at that point. Also like Peg stated there could have been a time limit on the stock trade in. Also if there is no activity on the account, the property will be paid abandoned to the state and you may have to go that route. You may want to try a search for property that has been paid abandoned to your state of residence at the time. For some reason I want to say that Western Semiconductor and Western Bell (which is defunct) were somehow connected together.

I am much more interested in finding out about Western Semiconductors because my dad has a ton of stock with them. These certificates are dated Nov 3, 1959. Western electric keeps popping up when I search this or Western Bell but I can't make the connection for sure between Western electric and western semiconductors.
There has to be info somewhere that I don't have to pay for! LOL

What did Western Bell become?

I meant they became Western Electric. Which then became part of AT&T and made the majority of phone equipment. According to a brief search part of Western Electric still exists. The only way you are going to find out about Western Semiconductor is to look at the certificate and find the transfer agent. Then hope and pray that the transfer agent still exists. If the stock is that old and dividends were paid, chances are everything has been paid abandoned. I know that when I worked for a transfer agent, we paid property abandoned after about 7 years.

The transfer agent for pinnacle entertainment should have been able to give you stock information. They also should have mentioned abandoned property to you too.

Also when Hollywood Park became Pinnacle Entertainment group it may not have been a one to one exchange on the stock. When AT&T split it was for every 10 shares of AT&T you received one share in each of the regional holding companies.

So if I have stock with western semiconductors that have been hanging around since 1959 and they were bought or merged with someone else, would those stocks still be worth anything? If they were considered abanonded property, but I have the certs, than what?
It is very important to find out as much as I can. I will find out to if there is a transfer agent listed, but even if there is chances of them still existing almost 50 years later are probably slim.
I really appreciate your help with this. Like I said, it is very important to find out as much as I can and as quickly as I can. Thanks!

A broker might be able to help. I had a certificate a few years back. I asked a broker to track it down for me. It only took him a few minutes. He told me that it had been recalled and who the transfer agent was. When I contacted the transfer agent, I was told it was beyond the date to turn the recalled cert in. Fortunately, it was only for ten shares.
