Disneyland 70th speculations and news

DL historically ran a daytime parade and a nighttime parade, so there's no reason they can't do so during the holidays. The only reason there isn't a daytime parade this summer is cost cutting.

There is only room for 2 parades backstage. For some reason (I assume cost cutting is the reason) they decided to keep Christmas Fantasy onsite and remove Magic Happens when they move PtN onsite.

It is packed here. Lots of people waiting for entertainment and not many going on rides. They sold out of the $60 keys just about everywhere!
I love how Disney found a way to make people buy these giant butt keys they don't need

Just insane with this economy and tells me Disney will try this more offend now

If you looked at merch did you see the $100 sleeping beauty castle!? I want to buy it for my wife but need to see if it's pre-built or not since we have to get on an airplane once our trip is over. Otherwise I can see about shipping it.

Remember, this is the first official day so people came here for entertainment. That said, the benches around the partners statue and near Jolly Holiday had people sitting there since noon. They watched both cavalcade and are waiting for PTN. ETA: they eventually moved the people off of the benches around the hub and made it a reserved area.

The people on the side of Alice said that they claimed benches around 2 pm.

CM are walking around telling people they can't claim seats more than 2 hrs before parade. Obviously noone is listening. They are also telling guests no blankets unless you are continuously sitting on them.

No blankets as in people are just leaving blankets to come back to them later? If so...that's just nuts.

Around 5 they cleared people who were waiting. You had to keep moving until 6:45 (2 hrs before the parade). It got very crowded with people walking in circles and loitering in the street. At 6:45, everyone grabbed a spot and by 7 there was very little seating available. ETA: Both nights they announced at 8:15 that there was no more seating available for the first show.

Once again, this is opening night so things are different.

Regarding the blankets, they have been saying it all day - for cavalcade, Disneyland Band, etc. Some CM are enforcing it and others aren't.

That's been going on for years at DL. We sat on the curb around 2018 really early for a parade. A family of 4 walked in, put a rug on the curb next to us and happily went off to do rides until right before parade time. It's insane. Complete opposite of WDW where it's hard to hold your spot even if you're standing in it!

Good to know. I can wait 2 hours...definitely going to want to see PtN at least twice, and the dining package is definitely becoming less appealing.

Will be interesting to see how the 2nd parade crowds go over the next few weeks.

pretty trusting to expect the blanket and space to still be there when they came back...

No, as in you can't lay out blankets on the ground to sit on.

I first heard it when I was watching the characters & Disneyland Band perform in Town Square. A family had their kids sitting on a small blanket . A CM came up and told them blankets weren't permitted today. They said "today" so it might have just been the first day when a large number of guests were there to enjoy the entertainment. And my guess is that the powers that be meant that you can't put a blanket down in advance or hold a spot for other people while they go on rides. Some CM interpreted it as you can't have blankets at all while other CM allowed parties who were sitting on blankets to use them.

Lines for Key lock stations. It was inside the store in the back. Notice the tape on the ground. They had to create queues because there were so many people doing this.

Oh my. That area in Adventureland is so crowded to begin with! I hope the madness over this dies down by the time we go. Yikes!!

I do think with social media, a lot of people get fomo over all this stuff. However I do realize that people who pin collect are also hard core!
