Help me find a squeaky clean chick flick

I have to give my vote to the new Pride and Prejudice movie. Excellent choice for a chick flick. I really like Sense and Sensibility too. (The version with Alan Rickman) :lovestruc

Not a new movie but one of my favorites is Crossing Delancy. It stars Amy Irving and is a romantic movie involving a matchmaker.

What about Fried Green Tomatos or How to make an American Quilt with Winona Rider? I don't think there is anything negative in those movies

What about Fried Green Tomatos ... I don't think there is anything negative in those movies

Except for the part where a woman and her female lover kill and and strongly imply they cooked her abusive ex-husband?

Don't get me wrong, it's a great movie, but that'd have to be a pretty liberal church!

What about something like Nights in Rodanthe? It's been a while since I've seen it, but don't remember anything particularly racy about it.

There are some rauncy scenes, but a very positive message. Diane Lane's character was separated and headed for a divorce when she met Richard Gere's character.

No extramarital fooling around? Just try finding a chick flick with none of that.

That's what I was thinking. I mean, even one of my all time FAVE movies, the *original* The Women, centers around a woman who has found out that her husband is having an offscreen (no men in the movie at all) affair with another woman.

That said, I think it's a fabulous movie, and I even had a girls' movie night while in college, and everyone there LOVED the movie even though it was from decades ago.

Mamma Mia's about a woman who had so many sexual partners she doesn't know which one is her daughter's father. Nor (at least in the play version) does she seem to mind particularly) Probably not church-y.

Well, in the movie at least, it's simply 3 young men in a very close time-frame. And it's when she's rather young. And she doesn't seem to have ANY male partnership at all after she has her daughter, as she builds her own life because her mother has kicked her out. She is certainly "paid back" for her mistakes, and then raises a terrific daughter who meets the love of her life very early and wants to make a life with him and him alone.

Looking at it that way, it's actually rather nice.

But her friends are really raunchy; so raunchy they make me uncomfortable.

It's a bit old, but I absolutely loved the movie, "Ever After." And it's quite clean.
Oh! I love the final line in that movie!!!! Well, I enjoyed the entire movie, too :)

What about Contact? There's a definite religious message in it, I don't recall any nudity (although I think the two stars are in bed together in one scene), and I don't recall any profanity. Hold on, I'm checking Kids in Mind... okay, squeaky-clean, maybe not. But it's rated 2-1-2

Ever After got a 1-2-2

While not what would normally be considered a chickflick by any stretch, and I admit I did only see about the first fifteen minutes of it, Earth is absolutely stunning. It got a 0-4-0 rating from Kids in Mind. I won't post the violence/gore details, but given the basis of the film, it's animals in their natural habitats behaving, well, naturally "A documentary look at three animal families across the globe and the difficulties they face in trying to survive: we follow polar bears, elephants and humpback whales. Narrated by James Earl Jones. Directed by Alastair Fothergill. [1:39]"

None of thiese are new, but all are extremelely low-rated on Kids in Mind:
Selena 2.1.2
Shadowlands 1.0.0
A Simple Wish 0.2.1
Sister Act 1.2.0
Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit 0.0.1
Sleepless in Seattle 1.0.2
Spellbound 0.0.1 (documentary about a spelling bee :))
WALL-E 1.2.1
Emma 0.1.1
The Age of Innocence 2.0.1

Not recent but "IQ" with Meg Ryan and Tim Robbins?

I can hardly believe that any real life movie, dealing with real life issues would be appropriate for this. Bambi is good, and Little Mermaid might make the cut too.

Some she loves: 27 dresses, The Blind Side, The Pursuit of Happyness,
Pursuit of Happyness may have some profanity, but overall it's a really inspirational movie.

You will not find Squeaky Clean anymore.. since the movie /TV industry has changed it will be incredibly difficult to find an "adult" movie without curse words, slight nudity, adult situations, strong thematic elements, death, blood, sexual situations, etc.

You may want to revisit old movies from the 1940's and 1950's. The 60's would be pushing it.. considering the movies pushed the cultural limits of the time. However there are some that aren't squeaky clean there as well "From Here to Eternity"-- kissing on the beach, Rear Window-- it's implied that Jimmy Stewart had unmarried adult company, etc.

You may be better off with a book club!

Boxofficemojo.com lists gross earnings for movies, by rating and year. So back to 2007, movies that might work for this imho:
No Reservations
Hairspray
Enchanted
Marley and Me

Even those 40's and 50's! Double Indemnity, anyone? There's actually lots of "How to Murder your Husband" movies in the fifties. All the 1940's film noir. The Big Sleep has a homosexual criminal. The Man With the Golden Arm is all about heroin addiction. And Cape Fear! And of course you have to watch out for the standard sexism and racism that no one really noticed in those days. (Or worse, thought was cute!)

Honestly, I think there's many more Adult-friendly G rated films these days than there were in previous generations. Films that used to be aimed at kids alone are now being made so entire families can enjoy them. The Incredibles is a good example, as are the Narnia films.

For more modern films, reviewed from a Christian perspective, this site has wonderful articles. I loved their take on Tron, Legacy : http://www.christiancinema.com/catalog/article_info.php?articles_id=7664

I love A Walk to Remember. It is also based on a Nicholas Sparks book but probably my favorite movie of his! It is sad but such a great message.

I was reading through the thread and realized Age of Innocence hasn't been mentioned. It's an older movie, with Daniel Day Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Winona Ryder. It's a very clean movie, very visually stunning.

Emma - Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeremy Northam, I watch this annually

I know Persuasion was already mentioned, but - love love love it.

I LOVE Now and Then! One of my favorites, and entertaining, also it follows the ladies from childhood- adulthood, it's a fun movie to watch in a group :goodvibes

What about the documentary Babies? My whole family enjoyed it and it is totally clean!
