Help me find a squeaky clean chick flick

Eat Pray Love was used in our Minister's message b/c it kind of "glorifies" frivolous divorce...might not be a good choice if your church is conservative....:confused3

'Return to Me' with Minnie Driver. Kids-In-Mind, which rates movies based on sex, violence & language, gives it a 2,3,3 which is pretty mild. Here's what they say:

Its one of my absolute favorite movies. My DD is 10 & I think its about time she sees it.

This was my suggestion. It was my Grandmother's favorite movie.

Angels and Demons or DaVinci Code

Seriously? They draw into question fundamental beliefs of the Christian church....I enjoyed them, but wouldn't even consider showing them at church!:confused3

27 Dresses was lovely. It's been a while, but I don't "think" it had any major flaws....

It's a bit old, but I absolutely loved the movie, "Ever After." And it's quite clean.

It was a pretty good movie, but I'm pretty sure Julie and Julia had lots of bad language and sexual references.

This is one of my favorite movies and I have to disagree that it had lots of bad language and sexual references. However it does have a few so if that is totally off limits, then it wouldn't be appropriate for church.

I can't think of any movies that are totally sqeaky clean, maybe A Beautiful Mind, or We are Marshall, or A Walk To Remember, Dead Poets Society, Lorenzo's Oil, Extrodinary Measures, My Sister's Keeper, Dragonfly.

The Young Victoria or the newer Pride & Prejudice would both be excellent choices.

The Young Victoria does include some sensuality, but it's very mild and in the context of a loving married couple. It's a very nice story and beautifully shot as well.

I had no idea that Lars and the Real Girl was church appropriate. I will have to go back and look at it again.

Ironically it really is. And it's an excellent movie.

The fact that the "Real Girl" is an anatomically correct sex doll is the raciest thing about the movie. That fact is really only incidental to the plot. They don't spent much time focusing on how she would traditionally be used.

One nice part of Lars and the Real Girl is that the church community is actually prominently featured in the movie and is a very positive force. That may be a springboard for some good discussion on how the church community, by practicing tolerance and acceptance, can help people.

I LOVE love love love this movie. I just caught it the other day on cable. I bawled, too. :lovestruc:sad1:

How squeaky? No cussing at all, obviously not the big words but how would the church ladies feel about hell and damn? Those are in pretty much every movie above a G rating made these days.

No extramarital fooling around? Just try finding a chick flick with none of that.

If you want something more comedic and not really a tearjerker, here was some movie with Julia Roberts in it about a guy who was her friend and was getting married and she decided she wanted to marry him herself, so she tried to break them up - that could work except I don't remember about cussing. I remember she smoked a lot.

The first thing I thought of was Beaches - but there's some cussing and a little bit of fooling around in that. It's also an older film than you were looking for.

I could most likely get through with a few common swear words. I would not be able to show a movie with extramarital sex. It is hard to please everyone and not offend anyone. :confused3 At the same time, I do want to try and find something that will get ladies to come watch.

I will have to go back and look at 27 Dresses. I zipped through that one when I saw it originally. The new Pride and Predjudice is a good idea. I will have to get past my dislike of Keira Knightley and her odd eyebrows in it.

I am going to take some of these suggestions and try to go through some movies over the next couple of days. Thanks for the suggestions so far!

What about While you were sleeping. That's one of my favorites. A walk in the clouds is great too but it deals with a woman getting pregnant out of wedlock.
What about princess Bride. That's a fun movie that church ladies might like.

Why not show them a new angle on an old story with "Bride and Prejudice"?
Great movie, colourful and entertaining with fantastic songs.
They could even learn something about another culture.

ford family

This was the movie I was thinking of as well. It is a Bollywood-style take on Jane Austen's classic. Very entertaining and Bollywood keeps it clean for sure.

Of course, now I need to check out Lars and the Real Girl :rotfl:

I'm kind of shocked at what some consider to be "squeaky clean". Breakfast at Tiffany's? Eat, Pray, Love? Mamma Mia?

I can think of some movies that can be considered squeaky clean, but there would be more like family oriented movies (Toy Story is a great choice).

Sadly, "Chick Flicks" are almost always about women catching a man; because apparently that's the only subject women can think about.

What about something like Nights in Rodanthe? It's been a while since I've seen it, but don't remember anything particularly racy about it.

Don't waste your time with 27 Dresses. Here is the review:
http://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/27-dresses

It says there is a "fairly generous sprinkling of.........(insert many swear words (not the worst ones but more than a damn or hell). It also says there is "deep kissing and making out in a car and on a couch." I am guessing that won't work for a church group.
