Help me find a squeaky clean chick flick

Lars and the real girl

It is a great movie amount a community that has messages of love and grace. It's quirky, but thought provoking. Great chick flick IMO and has been used a lot in church circles. It would be okay at my church, especially if used with some guided discussion.

That is a good movie. We even had a short series at church during which we watched most of the movie over a few weeks and discussed it.

Sweet Home Alabama

Steel Magnolias (a little old, but a pretty 'clean' movie)

The BLind Side (perfect for church as the family did a GREAT thing for a boy!)

how about the 1961 Disney version of The Parent Trap...saw this on TCM the other day...was a really good, funny movie.

I was also going to suggest Calendar Girls.
!

Freedom Writers is also a great movie - true story, and somewhat inspirational.

OP - you'll have to let us know what you picked!

love this movie... that is a great choice. Reminds me of my own classroom.. I need to just give my students journals and let them go...

I loved That Thing You Do.. it's a cute 60's type story.

Hairspray.. the newer version with Nikki Blonkski and Queen Latifah.

Thanks for the choices so far! Keep them coming! I really apprecite it.

I had no idea that Lars and the Real Girl was church appropriate. I will have to go back and look at it again. I had also forgotten about Julie and Julia. I love that Julia child's husband was so supportive of her. That could be a good one too. To the person who said Persuasion. Love that one too! Some of the other choices aren't as familiar to me and I will have to check them out.

Thanks again!

It was a pretty good movie, but I'm pretty sure Julie and Julia had lots of bad language and sexual references.

I have to admit, I'm a little surprised at some of the movies people are considering to be "clean" :)

I don't know which church the op goes to, but this website for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops gives ratings for movies and tells what's in it (nudity, profanity, etc.)
http://www.usccb.org/movies/index.shtml

For example, "Eat Pray, Love", which I've seen suggested here a few times is described with
The film contains complex religious themes, acceptability of divorce, nonmarital and premarital situations, rear nudity, some sexual humor, an obscene gesture, a few uses of profanity and at least one rough and a half-dozen crude terms. The Catholic News Service classification is L -- limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling

What about the Last Song?

:scared1::scared1::scared1: oh gosh...I Happened to be in the room when my DD and DW watched this movie...or the Lifetime Version of Hannah Montana as I began calling it.

I'd rather have steaming hot hedgehog quills, dipped in muriatic acid jammed into my eyeballs than have to endure that movie again. I think the goal was to see if they could cram every corny chick-flick cliche into one movie=goal accomplished.

I think Nicholas Spark must really be a woman.

:rolleyes1

I don't have any movie suggestions, but my mom uses the movie review site pluggedin.com. It's very conservative (through Focus on the Family) and is very comprehensive in it's review of any questionable content, broken down by violence, language, alcohol, etc.

My aunt is pretty picky about the movies she watches, she defiantly loves clean movies.

A few movies I picked out, that she has enjoyed: My sister's keeper, Devil Wears Prada, Toy Story 3

Some she loves: 27 dresses, The Blind Side, The Pursuit of Happyness,

I've stared so long at her collection, I can't seem to recall that many.

Mamma Mia with Meryl Streep or Serendipity (John Cusack, Kate Beckinsale).

I also agree with "You've Got Mail" and "Sleepless in Seattle". Love Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan! Can watch those two movies over and over!

Mamma Mia's about a woman who had so many sexual partners she doesn't know which one is her daughter's father. Nor (at least in the play version) does she seem to mind particularly) Probably not church-y.
