between taking a 4 night Disney cruise on the Dream mid November, 2015
or
going to WDW and staying at VWL for a week early December, 2015 to join in on all the Christmas activities.

Which should I do?

So far I am batting 0 for Disney cruises. I have booked and cancelled 2 in favor of going to WDW instead. The price in the end was the big decider for me, I felt my money went much further at WDW because I could use my DVC points and annual passes. I have yet to regret a Disney trip and the Christmas decorations are beautiful.

The cruise would likely be more relaxing. What kind of vacationer are you? We can't sit still for more than an hour, so WDW is great for us. If you have little kids the kids club on the ship could be nice to enjoy some adult time.

DH's birthday is mid November, and our first DCL cruise was during that time. Very few people were swimming in CC....I was, but I suppose the water seemed less than ideal to many.

We have had a December WDW trip every year since we joined DVC in 2003.

I would miss the cruise (& I love DCL cruises!) before I would miss Christmas celebrations in WDW. We will do both next December....have already booked a Magic cruise for mid December since we want to see a DCL ship decorated for Christmas!

Why not do the VWL in Dec and plan the cruise for sometime during @May of 2016 when the weather is warm enough to go swimming and the kids are still in school.

That's a good thought but my DH says if I cancel the cruise then he doesn't want me to book another one until 2017 or after.

I've only been to WDW once at Christmas time and it was the week of Christmas. It was so busy that I don't want to go back during that time period. But I've never been early December and I've never toured the resorts to see the decorations or have I ever joined in on any of the Christmas celebrations, so I'm probably going to go with spending early December at WDW, I'm excited already just thinking about joining in on all the Christmas celebrations at WDW.

The hard part is waiting the whole year, since I have no current trips planned to WDW.

VWL for the Christmas decorations....and then enjoy them in all the parks.
We bought VWL just to go in Dec.
We will be there this Dec.

That's why I purchased VWL in order to go in December, my problem is my DH doesn't want to go as often as I do, so I end up renting my points more often then I want. I do take the rental money and use it to book our cruises. My DH does enjoy taking cruises even Disney cruises.

Meriweather, will you be there in December, 2015 as well?

no....2015 is a DLR year, so we will be there in Dec.
We have a 2 bdrm this year at VWL for a week.....so all out of points there for awhile.

No wrong answer here, but I'd opt for the park trip. :)
